Strolling Venice II Marges de l’Architecture Biennale Architettura 2016 Venezia IMPORTANT INFOS – read carefully for your own travel organizations ! ! BOOK YOUR TRAVEL TICKETS (train or flight) and ACCOMODATIONS in advance ! Arrival: Saturday, 1st of OCTOBER 2016 before 15:00. you have to arrive and check in the youth hostel first (afternoon), then we will all meet at 5 pm (17:00) at the Palazzo Trevisan. Travel back: Friday, 7th OF OCTOBER 2016 - the earliest! The Seminar will finish with the Final Review and dinner on Thursday 6.10.2016. TRAVEL POSSIBILITIES Booking Flight / train – be sure to book that you arrive on time (before 15:00 on Saturday 1st of October – as the seminar starts at 17:00 at the Palazzo Trevisan – this is obligatory !): By plane: Check for good flights and appropriate flight times (eg. EasyJet / Geneva etc) – you might have to fly Friday evening for example to arrive in time ! By train: Geneva departure 7:39– Venice arrival 14:40 Fribourg departure 7:34 – Venice arrival 14:40 Bern departure 8:06 – arrival Venice 14:40 PLEASE check the trains/times yourself as well – times could always ! You can book a group ticket if you are at least 5 persons. Travel to/around Venice during the week: By vaporettos (the waterboats from Venice public transportation): To come by train is very appropriate as the main station is directly on the main island - the city of Venice – at the airport you have to pay for a separate ticket. Rolling Venice Card If you are under 29 years old it is clever to get the Rolling Venice Card (Euro 6,-) and 2 x 3-day-travel card (2 x Euro 22) – that is probably the best deal if you need it the whole week. – Depends of course of where your accomodation is and how you travel. You definitely need a day card on Monday (3.10.16). You can combine it also with a return ticket from the airport if you should come by plane. Order online or bye directly in Venice – Infos: http://www.veneziaunica.it/de/content/rolling-venice ACCOMODATION POSSIBILITIES When you look for accomodation be sure to be not too far from Palazzo Trevisan or the other Biennale Area - otherwise you need too much time for going from one place to another. On the main island you can do a lot by foot – you only need comfortable shoes. If you are a group of students who want to travel and stay together it is always worth to check out the costs of renting a flat in Venice – as it is not more expensive than the youth hostels sometimes: www.airbnb.com From our experience from the seminars before also the following could be a choice – hostels with rooms for 2-‐6 people or more: Generator Hostel Venice – on the island Giudecca (you definitely need vaporetto ticket) http://www.hostelvenice.org Istituto Santa Maria della Pietà http://www.pietavenezia.org/it/istituto/casa_per_ferie/ Foresteria Valdese Sestiere Castello, 5170, Venezia VE, Italia http://www.foresteriavenezia.it/ San Servolo http://www.sanservolo.provincia.venezia.it/conferences/default.aspx?pkey=tosleep Domus Ciliota http://www.ciliota.it/it/ Patronato Salesiano Leone XIII http://www.salesianivenezia.it/alloggi.html Cultural Center Don Orione Artigianelli http://www.donorione-‐venezia.it/it/index.html Cost estimations: train/ flight 100 – 300 Euros vaporetto tickets in Venice 50 – 70 Euros accomodation: 100 – 300 Euros (for 6 nights) Biennale entrance: 20 Euros last evening dinner: 20 Euro _____________________________________________________ 290 – 710 Euros – this very much depends how you travel and your requirements of accomodations.
