I would just like to take this opportunity to welcome you to this year’s Student Show ‘Invasion of the Doric Snatchers’ Now in its 86th year, Student Show is a well-established part of Student life and forms a major part of our annual Aberdeen Students’ Charities Campaign. For the last However, Student Show is more than just a great opportunity to have fun and meet new people, it is our chance to give a little back to the community and support the local charities of the North East. From it’s humble beginnings show has snowballed and last year’s production ‘Yokel Hero’ raised over £32,000. With your help, this year we hope to beat that total! possible, but also creates an environment from which this non-profit making event can donate the proceeds from the ticket sales directly to charity. Finally thanks to you our beloved audience, without whom our efforts would be fruitless, your continued support is most definitely appreciated! So folks, the time has come to switch aff Administrator’s Welcome four weeks our Cast and Production Team from across the City’s further educational establishments have demonstrated the true Spirit of Show by giving up their entire Easter break to rehearse, promote and produce the show, and now I am proud to say that the talented bunch are ready to entertain and delight with a super heroic performance. Special thanks must go to our sponsors for the week, Stewart Milne Homes, Chevron, CDL, Oceaneering, Marathon, The Evening Express and John Wood Group, not to mention many companies that have lend their support by various other means such as raffle donations for our spring concert amongst others. The involvement of these companies not only makes Student Show I’d like to thank you for coming to watch this year’s Student Show - ‘Invasion of the Doric Snatchers’. Whether you are new to Student Show, or a Show veteran I’m sure you’ll agree that this year’s production is definitely one of local Doric dialect, as well as loons, quines and old wifies. Although the planning for the show starts the moment the previous year’s show has finished, the cast have only had the past four weeks to learn the script, the songs and the dances. However, this short period of practice does not prevent it the best. For those of you who have just stumbled across His Majesty’s Theatre, and don’t really know what Student Show is, let me try and explain. Student Show is produced and performed by students from Aberdeen’s three Higher Educational institutions. It typically incorporates the being the biggest selling charity musical in the country, and indeed the biggest selling amateur production in the Aberdeen. All profits from tonight’s show get added to the annual Students’ Charities Campaign. Throughout the year we have been running various events, and all money raised will be disbursed to 65 charities, groups and yer mobiles, sit back, relax, open yer joob joobs and enjoy ‘Invasion of the Doric Snatchers’ All the Best Joanne Smith, Administrator, Student Show 2007 projects in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Don’t forget next weekend’s Torcher Parade - the largest student torchlit parade in Europe, and you can also buy your copy of the Eureka magazine from the Foyer during the interval. All proceeds from both of these help our beneficiaries. Charities’ Welcome 8 Thank you for your support, I hope you enjoy the show. Now he faces his greatest challenge yet. The beautiful and cunningly clever American business woman, Donna Flump, comes to the city to build a crazy golf course, but her real motivations are much darker! After enlisting the help of the evil Supervillan, “Miami Ice”, Donna plans to suck the Doric out of Aberdonians with a device of her own creation. Meanwhile, The Midgie’s sidekick Colin must also gain his HND in Sidekickery. Rounding off this cabaret of characters is the bumbling Police Commissioner Paul Easeman, accompanied by his sassy assistant Lisa Lane, and Scott Stone’s cleaner, Norma Lee. Will Donna’s plan succeed? Will The Midgie’s identity be revealed? Will Miami Ice freeze all of Aberdeen? Will Colin find love? Will Paul Easeman manage to do anything without relying on recalled episodes of Taggart? Will Lisa get her man? And will Norma harness the force that is Cillit Bang? Tune in next week to find out...Or, on the other hand, sit back and enjoy the show! 12 Admin & Production Teams 13 Administration Team JOANNE SMITH Administrator RACHEL AEDY Assistant Administrator Is there nothing this woman can’t do? We think she may be related to Wonder Woman! When Joanne is not fulfilling her role as the Administrator of this year’s show, she’s either teaching children about History and Modern Studies or taking part in ‘Invasion of the Doric Snatchers’ as one of our leading ladies. Obviously Joanne is not normally a cleaner but she certainly has the character of Norma Lee down to a tee. She has also featured in a number of productions with the likes of Pro-Arte, most recently, ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ and is a valued member of Treading the Boards. Joanne’s wealth of musical experience and phenomenal singing abilities are just two attributes which make her priceless. Oh yeah lads, she’s back and this year she’s not only sporting a fabulous look on stage as our Doric Quine, Lisa Lane, she is also assisting our Administrator. We are privileged and delighted to have Rachel back for another year of Student Show banter. Judging by the fact she is in the process of completing a Law degree, along with her enormous contributions to Show, she has shown an unparalleled work ethic and a sense of dedication that rivals even Donald Trump! Rachel lights up rehearsals and the stage with her dazzling performance and remarkable dancing abilities. ROSS BRECHIN Visual Communication With this being Ross’ eighth Student Show, he’s fast becoming Show’s guru…or granddad. With age, however, comes wisdom, as Ross himself says. Taking up his role as Visual Communications Manager once again, Ross spends most of the rehearsals sitting at his laptop working…or pretending to work! Landing the part of Paul Easeman allows Ross to get the kind of authority he’s always wanted (it’s only supposed to be acting, Ross!). With double-entendres and innuendos a-plenty, Student Show just wouldn’t be the same without this cheeky chappy. 14 FI WHITTEN Business Manager ‘Team Fi’ as she is affectionately known (a nickname she has earned primarily because she is all alone on the Admin Team this year with no partner.) However, that has not meant she has only done half a job Fi has worked her socks off obtaining and charming our lovely sponsors. Although she is dumbfounded with inventions such as the MP3 player, Fi has managed to distract herself from such things and plays a pivotal role in this year’s show. We knew she made an impressive ‘auld wifie’ as previously displayed in past Student Shows - “Spook Who’s Talking” and “Yokel Hero.” This year however, she has really excelled herself! Administration Team JILL SMITH Publicity Manager DAVIDE GRODY Publicity Manager We can’t write anything too nice for Jill as there is a good chance it will make her cry. However, what we will say is thank goodness the “Show Geek” is back; not only performing in Show but also a member of the Admin Team. Wildly notorious for her vivacious nature, Jill entertains - not only during rehearsals, but also at the numerous parties. A real trooper, Jill is always ready to have a giggle and was overwhelmed with excitement when she was placed in the front row for some of the dances. She’s the one with the big cheesy grin, look out for her folks! Possibly the cast’s most travelled member, Dave spent the past year visiting such places as Italy, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and (most frightening of all) Torry! Since starring as the evil Dow Jones in last year’s “Yokel Hero,” Dave has been honing his stagecraft in London’s West End. Moving from Show’s baddie to the Superstar Superhero The Midgie, no one plays Super like Dave, (though he believes he doesn’t need to act!). We hope he continues with Student Show as long as possible, as there is always a need for a crazy American in any show! JONNIE MILNE Souvie Editor Jonnie is taking on the role of Miami Ice in his second Student Show in so many years. It is particularly pleasing that he is also gracing the Admin Team with his presence this year, let’s hope it’s the first of many appearances! Jonnie aspires to be a writer which certainly comes in handy when one has thirty-odd cast biographies to write on a tight schedule! Casson was more than happy to grab him (only literally some of the time) and show him the ropes of a Souvie Editor as best she could. Jonnie has been entertaining and performing with Phoenix Theatre for the past nine years - he is a talent to be reckoned with! LYNSEY CASSON Souvie Editor What can be said about Lynsey that hasn’t been said many times before? Nae much really! Making her third appearance in Student Show, the female half of the Souvie Team has done a sterling job moulding her partner to fit her own (rather high) standards, making the best Souvie Team EVER! When Lynsey isn’t stressing at her computer, she can be found dancing away or teaching us all how to “Calm A Llama Down”. An obsessive fan of the Boosh, she also spent much of the past few weeks keeping her impressive hairdo in place (it should rival Russell Brand’s soon enough!) 15 Administration Team JILL MASSIE Supplies Manager KIRSTY SPICER Supplies Manager Jill is blonde and darn proud of it! Returning to us for Student Show number two, Jill was recently one of the Wardrobe Mistresses for Treading the Boards’ production of “The Wizard of Oz.” As the glitziest gal in the cast she always has a mirror, hair straighteners and make-up bag to hand, which come in handy more that you would think. Always ready to laugh at herself, she is continuously telling jokes and anecdotes of her own absurdity. She is also a valued member of this year’s Admin Team taking on the role as one of our Supply Managers. Unfortunately, Kirsty is not joining us on stage this year - but fear not! she is one of our trusty Supply Managers! Due to her commitments as a dedicated Medical student Kirsty is unable to be one of the cast this year. We are all very sorry to lose Spicer as she’s an incredibly talented singer and dancer and was our dance captain for “Yokel Hero” last year. However, it’s not just a talent for Medicine that this lady possesses; she can play the piano and the accordion. Kirsty is always willing to help out with anything that is thrown at her. RYAN PEACOCK Ticket Manager JONNY FERGUSON OAP Concert Co-ordinator The stage at His Majesty’s Theatre is unlucky not to have Jonny gracing it with his presence this year. With a busy work schedule, he had to limit his involvement to Admin Team duties. Still a keen bean, he has turned up to rehearsals as often as possible (mainly in time for the parties!) and confused many by being the fourth Jonny in the cast. “Little Jonny” (named after his height, we’re pretty sure!) is sorely missed this year on stage but he certainly makes up for it with his banter whenever there is a spare moment! 16 A member of North-East group ‘Oceans 3’, Ryan has taken on the mantle of Tickets Manager once again this year. How he manages to do that and learn the part of Colin, only he knows! Taking one (or several, more like it) for the team, Ryan spent the past four weeks being battered and bruised in the name of the show. While most of these beatings were dished out by The Midgie, God only knows where the other ones came from (or maybe a certain Administrator might…!). With this being Ryan’s sixth Student Show, the wee man is stacking up the appearances, and we’ll welcome him back every time! Production Team SHIRLEY CUMMINGS Director BRIAN GUNNEE Musical Director Even Wonderwoman herself would fail if pitted against our Director, The Mighty Miss Shirley Cummings. Trying to listen to her speak Doric is a show in itself, but we forgive her as she is in fact a Perther. A regular to the Aberdeen theatre scene, she has been a Principle, chorus member, Director, Musical Director and due to her two left feet we cannot say Choreographer but simply a mover, for many of the City’s amateur theatre companies including Lyric Musical Society, Aberdeen University’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Treading The Boards and this June will see her directing Aberdeen Opera Company’s summer show. Her organisational skills are legend, but then she is an English teacher at Robert Gordon’s College, just don’t upset her during rehearsals or the ‘Teacher Face’ comes out, stark contrast to the smut and innuendo that can surprise us all in her blocking! Brian is thrilled to be finally lifting the Student Show baton; deep down inside he is jumping for joy. He has worked with a number of local choral and orchestral groups both as a solo vocal performer and percussionist. Brian has been Musical Director for Pro Arte, University of Aberdeen Gilbert and Sullivan Society, Treading the Boards and for the last two summers with Scottish Youth Theatre. He is more than at home in His Majesty’s Theatre as he is a member of the industrious Front of House team and is looking forward to a change of view from the pit. SHONA KING Choreographer Back for a second year on the Production Team, Shona has a wealth of dance experience both as a performer and choreographer. She has worked with a number of local amateur groups including, Lyric, Attic and Treading the Boards. Shona is notorious for her arm movements both in and out of rehearsals. Her flexibility and stamina is never in question, but her sanity is. ANDREW MERSON Script Editor My, my, here comes the fuzz! After making many appearances in Student Show, and a good few years on the Script Team, Andrew has taken over the reigns as Script Editor. Commanding meetings at exotic locations such as the St. Machar Bar, Ma Cameron’s, and Parkvale JFC Social Club, our very own J. Jonah Jameson has had the unenviable but ultimately successful task of taking three (at times, very different) scripts and turning them into this year’s show. Please note that Andrew’s work for Grampian Police has in no way provided any inspiration for any material involving the Granite City Police Department. Ahem. 17 Production Team COLIN BROCKIE Production Assistant LINDSEY MASSON Rehearsal Pianist Colin is an incredibly talented vocal performer who is currently receiving vocal tuition at the North East of Scotland Music School. He performs in and around Aberdeen both as a solo performer and with various choral groups including the University of Aberdeen Chapel Choir. Colin’s skills extend beyond his vocal talent and he is a keen Gilbert and Sullivan fan. He has directed the University of Gilbert and Sullivan Society and last year received critical acclaim as Sergeant Meryll in their production of ‘Yeoman of the Guard’. He is available for weddings, bar mitzvahs but please, no funerals! Lindsey’s musical prowess is second to none and she is delighted to be back on the musical team for Student Show, having been Musical Director herself some years ago. She has worked as Musical Director for Aberdeen Gang Show, Attic and most recently for ‘Monkee Business’ which goes to the Edinburgh Festival later this year. We hope that her comic turns will be welcomed at the Fringe and she continues her secondary career as purveyor of fine pieces. JONATHAN MACDONELL Photographer CATRIONA COOPER Doric Coach Catriona has taken on the coveted role of Doric Coach and there is no one more qualified. She has been involved with Student Show for a number of years in a variety of capacities including Administrator and as a principal performer. Catriona has a reputation for playing the classic Doric ‘aul wifie’ and has passed on her top secret tips to the members of the cast with flair and flamboyance. 18 Providing the wonderful photos you see throughout this Programme, Jonathan lights up Student Show with his wonderful air of professionalism and no lack of banter! They say good things come in small packages, and in this case they are certainly right! Diet Coke obsessive, Jonathan has been known to dabble onstage as well as behind the scenes. On the occasions he appears at rehearsals, his cheeky face lifts our spirits almost as high as his eyebrows. Not being a student prevented Jonathan from taking part in this year’s Student Show, but he’s already established himself as one of the gang, and will be our favourite photographer for a long time to come! When not whacking balls with a stick (hockey, people - keep it decent!) Siobhan spends time being a valued member of Lyric Musical Society. The wee lass isn’t fazed at all about taking on the role of evil Donna Flump, despite really being a “good girl”. In addition to all this, rumour has it that her escapades dressed as an OAP suggest there is a lot more to this one than meets the eye. We certainly hope that she’ll return to Student Show for years to come! This wifie is a barrel of laughs! She has graced the stage with Attic and Phoenix and now she is here with us. This woman’s ability to entertain knows no bounds. In addition to grinning and laughing (mostly at herself!), Debbie has an incredible ability to run a commentary on what she is doing, the majority of the time while she’s in the middle of a dance rehearsal. It certainly adds something to her positive and hilarious character. We would welcome her back to Student Show any day of the week, especially the ones when there’s a party going on that‘s for sure! CLAIRE CHERNOUSKI Claire makes her debut with Student Show this year as the delightful PC Rachael Prejudice. A lead dancer with Phoenix Theatre for the past four years, Claire is no stranger to the stage. Moreover, with a dancing role in the recent performance of “Aida” at HMT, there is no doubt that her skills are a welcome addition to Student Show. Claire spends most of the rehearsals getting into her policewoman character, and I’m sure many male members of the cast are desperate to be handcuffed by the wee minx! 22 SARAH CLELAND Schoolchildren watch out, Commander Sarah is on the lookout! This future Primary Teacher needed no motivation whatsoever getting into the part for her debut Student Show. Having appeared in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Yeoman of the Guard” last year, Sarah was keen to step it up a level and take part in Student Show. For all you fact-finders out there, Sarah’s a firm believer that the bottle opener is the greatest invention of all time (we wonder why?)! Cast Profiles LUCY DAVIES KRISTINA FARQUHARSON This is Lucy’s last Student Show but, she is definitely moving on to different but exciting new things. Completing her Diploma in Legal Practice is just one goal this lady has set herself, she also plans to travel to Tanzania and build houses, something she has been fundraising for continuously. So, Lucy has been fundraising already this year and plans to do even more charity work. There is no end to this girl’s generosity. She’s an asset we are sorry to lose but we reckon she makes up for leaving by putting on a hell of a performance as various characters throughout this show. Who says that lightning can’t strike the same place twice? Kristina returns to Student Show this year for her second consecutive performance. Despite a period of uncertainty about time constraints, she just couldn’t stay away! After Student Show last year, Kristina went on to feature in Pro Arte’s “Merrily We Roll Along,” where she met and bonded with our esteemed director. Kristina has spent rehearsals cheering us all up with her infectious smile, so thank you! KATE FRIDAY SARAH GAULD When Kate isn’t studying for her Research Degree at RGU’s Business School, she is on the stage with ProArte or the University of Aberdeen Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Obviously sporting a plethora of artistic talents, Kate is another very welcome new addition to the Student Show clan. She claims her role model is ‘Tinkerbell‘, which is particularly interesting as she is certainly light on her feet. She picks up and performs dances like a professional, something which can challenge all of us. We hope Student Show is a continuation of great things for this young lady and we would happily have her back again and again. A Student Show newcomer, Sarah’s cheery demeanour and extroverted personality are a welcome addition to the cast this year. With role models such as Marilyn Monroe and Britney Spears (pre break-down), Sarah lights up rehearsals and coffee parties with her embarrassing stories and claims to fame. Having spent some time in Edinburgh, she is glad to have come back to Aberdeen and has discovered Student Show, thanks to Jonnie. There is little doubt that Sarah will succeed in her dream of achieving a career in the media. We only hope that she’ll find time in her busy schedule to join us all again! 23 Cast Profiles FERGUS KINNON JENNY LUCAS Fergus is our very own TV star here at Student Show and who’d have guessed it? No stranger to having hundreds of eyes on him, Fergus marks his HMT debut this year. It didn’t take long for the knowledge of Fergus’ appearance on The Weakest Link and auditions for several other television shows to spread through the cast. I wonder how Anne Robinson compares with our Administrator Joanne?! Fergus is a living example that hard work pays off, which can only bode well for his future career in Primary Teaching. Jenny is just so bubbly and adorable! Thank goodness she’s joined us for her first Student Show, however it is certainly not her first appearance on stage. Jenny has performances with Pied Piper Productions and Treading the Boards under her belt, so she can dance and sing her way through Show with a smiley demeanour. When Jenny is not bargain shopping (we are pretty sure she is obsessed with Primark!), she is dreaming of an early retirement, living in Paris. We reckon if she manages to retire when she claims she wants to (at 24 no less!) she’ll be laughing. RYAN MACFARLANE Ryan has joined Student Show this year and taken on the challenging role of Harris Ment. His involvement in “Invasion of the Doric Snatchers” will be particularly interesting for him, as the majority of his time in His Majesty’s is spent Front of House as opposed to onstage. It seems the superhero spectacular has proved too tempting an opportunity for this young man. Ryan had no worries about meeting new people when he joined Show, having used several cast members in one of his many films for his College course. So, keep an eye out for Ryan at future Oscar ceremonies! 24 LAURA MERCHANT This young lady describes herself as vacant but we’re pretty sure that’s not true as she is proving her talent and brains by playing one of our wonderful ‘auld wifies’. As talented singer, Laura brings plenty of experience with her, most recently in Treading the Boards’ production of “The Wizard of Oz.” She aspires to be a History teacher thus she has got an awful lot to talk about with Joanne. Luckily however, she shares her chat with us all and brings incredible enthusiasm to Show, we hope this is the first of many Student Shows for you! Cast Profiles JOHN MITCHELL ROSIE MOYES Eager to avoid confusion as another John in the Student Show cast, this John asked to be called John Kidd early on, though the reasoning behind this mysterious nickname remains… mysterious. So, most people just refer to him as Hat John, as he’s rarely seen without one! One of our (im)mature students this year, John studies computing. An avid fan of the Glasgow Hilton Hotel, John has spent rehearsals and parties entertaining the cast with his witty banter and tales of what life is like for ‘real’ adults (since we students dinna ken!) Rosie had to leave her home for the duration of Student Show and live with one of the Souvie Editors. She returns for Show number three - a fact we are certainly not upset about. Don’t be fooled by her petite stature, this lady’s got a whole load of character and talents which are essential. She studies Sociology, so she is obviously very good with people and an expert at socialising: two qualities which are vital when taking part in Student Show. With a sparkle in her eye and an infectious giggle, Rosie performs and entertains with a robust and spirited energy both on stage and off. Moreover, with good chat, dedication and not to mention good looks, we certainly nominate her for Show sweetheart! MICHALIS PAPENMICHAIL When the cast are not busy trying to remember how to pronounce Mihalis’ name, they’ve been ending themselves at his performance as David. At first he was worried about how his friends would react, but he soon let go of his inhibitions and went with it. While the dances this year have proved challenging for some members of the cast, Mihalis’ background as a professional Greek dancer stands him in good stead. For all you trivia fans out there, Mihalis once played a dead body on Taggart. We can just hope that the self-proclaimed “Greek God” doesn’t corpse on stage! SHANNON SMITH Shannon is studying Diagnostic Radiography at RGU and has on occasion been seen at rehearsals in her uniform much to the delight of certain members of the cast. Straight out of Treading the Boards, Shannon has been known to display her singing expertise down the phone to anyone who will listen. Shannon describes herself as “fantabulous” and judging by the hard work and talent she has shown us we would be inclined to agree. We hope she sticks around with Student Show that’s for sure! 25 Cast Profiles AILSA THOMSON AMANDA WATT We have poached another member of Treading the Boards - something we are incredibly proud of! As soon as we saw Ailsa perform as a singing tree in “The Wizard of Oz” we knew she was Student Show material! She can dance, she can sing, she can act, but firstly and most importantly she makes the best cup of tea in the world! Ailsa always has a big cheesy smile and can brighten up anyone’s day. In addition to this, if you are very lucky, she may even let you join the fan club she chairs. So, if you have a strong passion for the spectacular music of East 17 then she would be more than happy to share her excitement with you. Just please don’t try and tell her Take That are better - it might make her angry! Amanda joins us for the first time and certainly adds an element of sparkle and a great deal of theatrical experience to Student Show. She has been involved with Aberdeen Opera Company for three years, so is extremely used to being on the big stage at His Majesty‘s Theatre, and also works there as part of the Front of House Team. Thankfully, when she was asked to play the role of our Narrator she jumped at the chance. Amanda aspires to “ge it laldy in the West End” and we’d certainly like to see that! This diva is a welcome new addition to our cast and full of the banter which make rehearsals as entertaining as one of our infamous parties. RUTHIE WHYTE JONATHAN WOOLLARD Alright me old mucker? John hails from down South - Essex to be exact, and is a welcome addition to this year’s cast. While worried about mastering the Doric tongue to begin with, John admitted he was up for anything something we’re sure has pleased the quines in the cast! We hope John-boy returns to Student Show next year, but the Politics and History student might have his hands full in the House of Commons by then! Not, however, if he fulfils his ambition to have the ‘Robot’ dance move integrated into every dance number here at Student Show! 26 This lady is a well versed and impressive talent, with performances under her belt with the likes of Lyric Musical Society, Aberdeen Opera Company and Leading Lights. Additionally Ruthie works at our very own His Majesty’s Theatre and is directing the musical “Fame!” later this year. When’s she is not carrying out these tasks, she is studying Philosophy at the University of Aberdeen - a subject very suited to this “pensive” lady. Ruthie is charming and friendly everyday but do not be fooled by this lady’s quiet demeanour - when Ruthie gets on stage she is as extroverted as even the most professional performer! Script Team MICHELLE BRUCE Miss Bruce’s innocent appearance bellies her ability to produce the smuttiest material from even the most mundane topic. Providing that crucial female voice on the team, Michelle has not let a lack of knowledge - or even interest - in superheroes and comic books stop her from churning out pages and pages of doubleentendre, instead relying on thirty (count ‘em) years as a genuine glaekit doric quine. Despite holding down about twelve part-time jobs all linked to her acting skills, Michelle still found time to make a welcome return to the Script Team and keep the boys in check. If during this performance, you hear a dirty laugh followed by, “I just got that”, then Michelle is somewhere nearby. DAVE PORTER Dave really does exist. We know this, because we have met him. Dave doesn’t want us to know that he exists, hiding himself in his secret lair, somewhere in his hometown of Turrif. Dave sent his sometimes surprisingly surreal yet satisfyingly traditional scripts through with just a whiff of mystery. Dave’s first exposure to Show was as official photographer. He decided to try his hand at writing, and has been on the Script Team for five years now. When not writing for show, Dave has just started a new job looking after the finest golf course in Turriff. If, during this performance, you should happen to see Dave, please report the sighting to the local press. STUART DALLAS KING Resident Superhero Consultant, movie buff and owner of a mischievous grin, Stuart is the debutant of Script Team. Never afraid to steal(!) the best and the worst dialogue from films you’ve seen, and a few you haven’t, Stuart has been our keenest contributor. Meanwhile, in an arty Belmont Street cinema, Stuart earns his crust as a manager and leisurely lecturer, giving courses on superheroes in cinema. Having held this years script so close to his heart as, week after week, Stuart increasingly morphed into the characters you see on the stage. If, during this performance, you see someone mouthing along to all the dialogue, you’ve located Dallas. ANDREW BREBNER Brebsy is, famously, a man of negligible height, impressive wingspan and occasional employment. Having written or edited Student Show scripts for time immemorial, this year his input has been to email Andrew on a regular basis and say that next week, I promise, I’ll write something. In the end we had to pin him down and forcefully extract some lyrics from his brain, before setting him free. If, during this performance, you have a clear view of the stage, then Brebsy is sitting in front of you. 27 28 31 Where The Money Goes Aberdeen and North East Deaf Society, Kincardine and Deeside Befriending, Crossroads Caring for Carers Aberdeen, The Breadmaker, Grampian Hospital Radio, Blue Horizon Youth and Family Project, Momentum Scotland, NSF Scotland, Aberdeen Breathe Easy, BIG (Brain Injury Grampian) Group, Salvation Army Aberdeen Action on Disability Ltd, Aberdeen and North East National Osteoporosis Society Support Group, Aberdeen and North East Spina Bifida Association, Aberdeen City Mission, Aberdeen Macular Degeneration Group, Aberdeen Northern Woodturners Club, Aberdeen Wheelchair Curling Club, Alcohol Advisory and Counselling Service, Beacon Sports Club for the Physically Disabled, Dee Swimming Club, Home Start North East Aberdeenshire, Home-Start Aberdeen, Huntly Day Care Centre, Meningitis Research Foundation Scotland, Myasthenia Gravis Association North of Scotland Branch, North East Student Money Advisors, Pillar Aberdeen, Pillar Kincardine, The Friends of Woodend, Torry Youth Café Development Group Aboyne Terrace Residents’ Association, Balmedie Friendship Club, Brimmond Court Social Club, Echt and Dunecht Senior Citizens Friendship Club, Garthdee Pensioners, Grampian Senior Citizens Forum, Inverurie Old Age Pensioners Association, Mastrick Senior Citizens Club, Newhills OAP Social Club, Newmachar Senior Citizens Club, Northfield Pensioners, Regensburg Social Club, Rosewell Gardens Residents Association, St Clements Friendship Club, St Peter’s Court Social Club, Wednesday Afternoon Club High Church Hilton 32 Visiting Our Sponsors 34 35 Good Luck Messages 36 37 Acknowledgements Joanne would like to thank her fabulous Admin team for all of their hard work throughout the last year.
