I recieved the spot of the final stop “Ülemiste” for trams 2 ja 4. At this time road construction works prevented this area from functioning in terms of tramm traffic. The final stop became not more than lifeless historical object. I marked this spot with a poster wich depicted redesigened sign of a historical landmark. Fanzine Format: booklet Year: 2006 Project senior: Bart de Baets (Holland) A 16 page A5 booklet, which is dedicated to thing I am a fan of: clash of my favorites football players and superheroes. Public Voice Format: plakat Year: 2006 Project senior: Bart de Baets (Holland) For the radio of the Estonian Academy of Arts each of the participants was suppose to create an idea of interesting broadcast and promote it with self-made printed materials. The idea of my project “Public Voice” was the following: everybody could choose their favorite song from my private collection and mark it on the Wishlist poster or if they hadn’t found one, write it down on the Public Voice poster. The book teaches us how to create your own small garden in 7 weeks at the same time not forgetting about leisure activities. One good proverb suggests: “One who can’t rest, can’t work”. Inside the book potato, cucumber, carrot and other seeds can be found. Workshop: One Mouthful, One Concept Format: poster Year: 2007 Project senior: Louis Lüthi, Kasper Andreasen (Danmark) In this woodprint workshop we were supposed to create A1 poster dedicated to reading habits. Poster compares the way newspapers and scientific books spread the same information. The book researches and documents daily behavior of ordinary people: grocery shops, preparation of dinner and shopping. How they communicate, find compromises and collaborate to achive a common aim. Workshop: 1m2 Format: poster Year: 2007 Partners: Mihkel Virkus, Jaan Kroon Project senior: Urs Lehni (Switzerland) During The Days of Swiss Design we were supposed to find a square meter of the city (Tallinn) and depict it on a A0 poster to send it on an exhibition to Switzerland. Our group chose Swiss reading room in the Estonian National Library. A talk with a Swiss person residing in Estonia showed that the Swiss respect and try to depict their flag everywhere. Notebook 20 Format: book Year: 2007 Project senior: Kristjan Mändmaa What does it feel like to be 20 years old and live in Tallinn? The book doesn’t give the answer. It researches being 20 and lets you think and decide on your own. The book includes useful life test. Workshop: Color Format: poster Year: 2008 Project senior: Matthias Kreutzer (Germany) A series of posters for announcing the opening of an exhibition “Color” by graphic design department of Estonian Academy of Arts. With the help of a professor of The Tallinn Technical University lightwaves were measured using a spectrometer in seven different spots of Academy of Arts. Afterwards the posters were supposed to be placed at those spots. Charts showed, how lightwaves are divided into colors. Trolleys Format: infographics Year: 2008 Project senior: Ivar Sakk Tallinn trolley colors are white and light blue. Due to our rainy weather and grey architecture they became sad and unnoticeable. I have redesigned trolleys exterior adding more vivid colors and useful information. The main point was to create less advertising and give more pure information using as many different media sources as possible: outdoors, ad-words, stickers, traffic signs etc. The texts on the slides: “Drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Project senior: Alex Jordan (Germany) A five-day workshop “Sauen is everywhere” in a small village near Berlin. The main point of this project was to find out the opinions of locals about their native village. We asked them to draw their houses and answer four question: what was the population, how many houses, streets and dogs were in the village. Ring Frei Format: photography Year: 2009 Project senior: Alex Jordan (Germany) The series of photos of the Ringbahn of Berlin for the “Ring Frei” book and web blog. Workshop: Wall We Need Format: wall painting Year: 2009 Project seniors: Marco Walser (Switzerland) , Radim Peško (Czech Republic) The workshop held in Berlin during “die Aktionklasse” event, throughout wich we studied the informational language in urban space and our purpose was to transfer it onto the inner 16x4m wall using only the color grey and typographie. “Kein Alk am Leo” (No Alcohol on Leo, in german) was the name of an article in the Strassen Fegel newspaper, which was distributed by homeless’ or disabled in the streets of Berlin. This article told us about drinking alcohol on Leopold Square and banning it. Leo was the name of one of the organizers of “Die Aktionklasse”. We had a party the same day at the same building. On our wall the meaning of “Kein Alk am Leo” could be translated as No Alcohol for Leo personally. Documentary: Wall We Need Format: raamat Year: 2009 Partners: Yassin Baggar, Carla Streckwall, Ferdinand Ulrich Project seniors: Marco Walser and Radim Peško The book depicting the workshop “Wall We Need”. The book contains all texts and drawings created on the 16x4m wall during the workshop half-sized. The book cover and content are designed by Roman and Yassin, the colored cover is photographed and designed by Carla and Ferdinand. Tallinn population density Format: Google Earth Year: 2009 Project senior: Henri Laupmaa Google Earth 3D model shows population number and density of all Tallinn districts. Violet color stands for density and white stands for number. Mapping heating expences Format: website Year: 2009 Project senior: Henri Laupmaa The idea of the project is to constract a map of all the heating costs depending on the district, house type, heating system type and other factors. The project was connected with Community Tools (free software for managing community activities and communication) Tallinn Public Transportation Map Format: infographics Year: 2010 Project senior: Kristjan Mändmaa Map is designed for guests of Tallinn city thus containing public transportation schema along with famous sightseeings and cultural objects. The map provides detailed yet simplified way for orientation in city centre, Kadriorg, Rocca Al mare and the port of Tallinn areas. This map is recently used by Tallinn Tourism Department.
