COMMOTION OF EVERYDAY LIFE

so Easy to escape to,
SOLITUDE:
SKI AT IT
SKI IN IT
yet so hard
toAND
leave.
When you’re still making fresh tracks after noon, when your kids
feel like they own the mountain, and when everything—from lunch
lines to lift lines—is easy, then you’ve discovered Solitude.
Solitude Mountain Resort is nestled near the top of Utah’s Big
Cottonwood Canyon, a quick 40 minutes from the Salt Lake
International Airport. Yet as easy as it is to get here, you’ll feel
like you’re a million miles away. Stress disappears. Pressure is
nonexistent. And fun is first on the agenda.
With 1200 acres of terrain and 64 runs that range from beginner to expert, there’s something to please everyone. Cruise
down velvety smooth groomers. Hang with your kids in our
family-friendly terrain park. And
discover the incredible off-piste,
gorgeous glades and wide open bowls
in Honeycomb Canyon.
We average more than 500” a
year of unbelievably dry snow—the
perfect recipe for silky-soft groomers,
untracked stashes, and consistent
conditions. And no matter where you
go, you’ll rarely see a lift line.
And the fun doesn’t stop when the snow melts. At Solitude,
there’s no such thing as “off season.” Summer, spring and
fall are packed with things to do and gorgeous scenery
to enjoy.
Solitude is nationally ranked as a top U.S. resort by
both Ski and Skiing magazines for the 07/08 season.
Make your evenings as
memorable as your days
When the day is done, you’re just steps away from one of the
many lodging options in our European-style pedestrian village.
The perfect blend of modern comfort and old-world charm, the
village offers everything from true slope-side convenience, to
luxurious lodging and spacious family-oriented condos.
The Inn at Solitude: The charm of a traditional Austrian-style
lodge with first class amenities like fine dining, spa and pool. For
reservations, call 801-517-7717 or go to skisolitude.com/inn.
Creekside Condos: Luxurious units with a rooftop hot tub,
conveniently located at the base of the mountain on the creek.
Powderhorn Lodge: Under the village clock tower, with easy
access to Club Solitude’s pool, exercise room and game room.
Eagle Springs Lodges: Tuscan-style architecture with one, two
and three-bedroom condos featuring majestic views.
The Crossings: Elegant town homes with the extra space for
family gatherings.
Luxury Homes: Secluded, large, private redidences adjacent to the
village and mountain.
Club Solitude. Kick off your boots and take a plunge in our heated
outdoor pool, relax in the hot tub, go ice skating, or kick back in our theater for a nightly movie. At Club Solitude, you can also challenge your
kids to a round of Xbox or an old fashioned board game in our familyfriendly game room. And don’t miss the daily organized activities like
snowshoeing, stargazing, or mountain biking and hiking in summer.
Own a piece of Solitude. Give yourself an excuse to
come back again and again. Real estate opportunities at
Solitude are available, but limited. For information, visit our
real estate office in the village, or call 801-517-7708.

DINE AT SOLITUDE
AND EAT YOUR HEART OUT
RESTAURANTS AS TEMPTING
AS OUR TERRAIN
While dining options are abundant,
perhaps the most memorable is our
five-course gourmet meal served in
The Yurt. Don your cross country skis
or snowshoes and head through the
trees for an unforgettable evening of
fun and fine dining.
We have plenty of restaurants right in the
village. Enjoy Creekside Restaurant’s
new Tuscan-style menu, or St. Bernard’s*
elegant Country French fine dining.
The Thirsty Squirrel* is the perfect place
for some après ski, and the Stone Haus
Pizzeria and Creamery is great for
coffee, breakfast, a quick sandwich, pizza,
or locally-made gourmet ice cream.
At the base of the Moonbeam lift, stop
for lunch or breakfast in the Moonbeam
Lodge, serving on-the-go breakfasts and
an expanded menu of healthy sandwiches
and other distinctive skier fare. At the end
of the day, drop into the Argenta Pub for
some après ski. And up on the mountain,
grab a burger and some sun at the midmountain Sunshine Grill; or stop at the
Last Chance Mining Camp for our fresh
Mexican and classic grill menus.

THE TRACKS MAY FADE, BUT THE
MEMORIES WILL LAST FOREVER
This season, you’ll get to share in fifty years worth
of memories. What began in 1957 with a dream
and two chair lifts, has evolved into a nationally
ranked, full-service resort. Be sure to join in the
fun this year as we host special events and celebrations to
commemorate our 50th Anniversary.
Make tracks on the groomed or in the steep and deep.
Some call it corduroy, but we prefer velvet. Our meticulously
groomed runs delight young and old alike, thanks to our fleet
of modern grooming equipment. But powder hounds, don’t
fret. We’ve saved all of Honeycomb Canyon for you. With 400
acres of the most accessible free-riding in the country, it’s
the perfect place to find freshies, even days after the last big
storm. We even have Back-Tracks
guided backcountry tours, for
reservations, call 801-536-5705.
Snowsports Adademy. You’re
never too old, or to young to learn,
right? The Solitude Snowsports
Academy has instructors for all levels, with group or private
lessons. Our Moonbeam kids’ program is the state’s premier ski
and snowboard school for kids under 12, and focuses on lifetime
skills, fun and games. For skiers ages 4 to 12 and snowboarders
7 and older. Call 801-536-5730.
Nordic Center. Step into some skinny skis
and head out on our 20 km of prepared trails,
or meander on snowshoes through 10 km of
specially-marked trails. The Solitude Nordic
Center offers ski rentals, snowshoe rentals and
lessons. For information, call 801-536-5774.

HOW ABOUT A SUMMER FLING?
UP HERE THERE’S NO SUCH THING
AS “OFF-SEASON”
Even if winter’s your first love, we invite you to come back and
discover the lure of summer. When the snow melts away, the
mountain becomes a lush carpet of green meadows and gorgeous wildflowers—the perfect backdrop for hiking, biking or just
getting away from it all. At the base of the mountain, kids are
always drawn to our magnificent pond where they can wile away
the hours throwing rocks or fishing for rainbow trout.
Lift served hiking, biking and disc golf
Nothing lifts your spirits like a quick ride up the
mountain, followed by a thrilling descent on a bike
or mountain scooter. We have a variety of wellgroomed trails (yes even in summer!) that
range from gentle to downright gnarly. Or, pack
a lunch and your bag of discs and spend the
afternoon on our 18-hole disc course that winds
through towering aspens and pines. But be
prepared to share the course with our resident
deer and moose.
Weddings, events and conferences
With towering mountains and stunning scenery,
Solitude is a natural haven for weddings, retreats
and special events. Our charming European vil-
lage has all the facilities and accommodations you need for your next meeting,
conference or celebration. For details and
pricing, call 801-536-5713.
