ILL Borrowing using the ILLiad Customer Interface Interlibrary Loan Special Services Jacksonville Public Library 2007 What’s Interlibrary Loan? Interlibrary Loan (ILL) offers JPL cardholders the opportunity to request books that are not owned by JPL. Customers can have a total of ten requests outstanding at one time. How does it work? Requests for books can be placed electronically at any JPL unit using WorldCat on FirstSearch or at any computer using the ILLiad Customer Interface. What we can’t borrow through Interlibrary Loan: Items that are currently owned by JPL Newly published items (less than a year old Books copyrighted or dated prior to 1920 Audio-visual and non-book materials (Videos, DVDs, Audio-cassettes, microforms, 16mm films, software, etc) Textbooks Entire issues of periodicals Rare books E-books or e-documents/articles What is ILLiad? ILLiad: InterLibrary Loan Internet Accessible Database With this software, JPL can: Lend materials to other libraries Borrow materials from other libraries Use Copyright management Track status of requests Manage overdues and billing Compile statistics automatically What can ILLiad do? Customers are able to place, track, and renew ILL requests from home. Customers use FirstSearch with their ILLiad Account to place requests without having to type in contact information What can ILLiad do? As with SIRSI’s My Account: z Customers can update their contact information and change pin numbers z Customers use their library card numbers as their user names Customers can be contacted by telephone, US Mail, and e-mail. Where can I find ILL on the JPL Webpage? Registering for Interlibrary Loan Service using ILLiad Choose the library where you Want to pick of the material Choose the library where you want to pick up the material Choose the library where you want to pick up the material Click here to submit Click here to submit The Customer Interface Menu lets customers: Request a Book Request a Photocopy Track requests Renew books Check Request History Cancel or resubmit requests Book Request Maximum Cost Also make sure you add include in the Notes field how much the customer would be willing to pay for the loan if the Lending Library charges a fee. Does this mean we don’t use FirstSearch? We still use FirstSearch WorldCat and FloridaCat to search for books but, clicking on the ILL request button will now access the log-in and registration page for ILLiad.W CLICK HERE Log in here Register here Click here to submit But customers can’t use FirstSearch from home! They can use FirstSearch by logging into the Florida Electronic Library using their library card numbers. Both FloridaCat and WorldCat are available on this site: http://www.flelibrary.org However, there isn’t any link to JPL’s ILLiad Customer Interface from this site.
