I want a steak with some flavor, not just a hunk of meat, and I want a steak that you can cut with your fork—no steak knife needed. To achieve this, it is very important to get a really good cut of meat. I only buy my steaks at Doug’s Meat in Shelley. They hand cut everything. If you want a real local meat market with great service, Doug’s meat is the place. Here is how I prepare these mouth-watering steaks. ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Line up all the steaks on a cookie tray (or on a plate if just doing two) so you can prep more than one at a time. Trim most of the fat from the sides of the steak. Put a generous couple of shakes of Worcestershire sauce onto each steak—about 2 tablespoons each—and rub the sauce into the meat with your fingers. Sprinkle the following onto the steaks: Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Accent, Meat Tenderizer and Pepper. Then rub the spices into the meat. Flip the steaks over and repeat without the Worcestershire sauce Cover the steaks with clear plastic wrap. Let them sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Get your grill nice and hot, and grill your steaks to your preferred cook level (ie. medium rare, well done, etc.). These can be prepared a day ahead of time by prepping them and leaving them covered with plastic wrap. I always do a few extra and freeze them. He enjoyed taking care of them and helping them create nature’s finest food. In the early 1950’s, he started selling milk to the public. Then, in 1962, Larry built his own bottling plant. Ever since that time, we have been bottling milk in the same manner. We have not changed to ultra-high temperatures for pasteurization like all the other plants. The book Milk by Anne Mendelson talks about the dangers of high pasteurization temperatures to milk. Our nonfat milk is raved about by anyone who tastes it. The reason is because of our low temperatures and how we take care of our cows. When talking about nonfat milk in her book, Anne Mendelson says, “When it comes from well-managed herds of cows producing a lot of protein in the milk, it can be quite satisfying. Remove from oven and top with Cheddar. Return to oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Let stand for at least 5 minutes and then serve warm.
