Printed and bound in the United States of America by LEZA INVESTMENT PROPERTIES LLC CASA GRANADA Spanish Heritage It is said that when a Spanish Granadiño commissioned a house he would instruct his architect to build a grand Patio and, if there was space afterwards, the rest of the lodgings. Over centuries, hispanic households have been characterized by this proverbial Patio, the Corazon de la Casa, which blends indoor and outdoor living spaces. The indoor courtyard opens the home to the sun and creates soothing wind currents perfect for indulging in long meals and endless conversations. Unlike the structure of other courtyards and balconies, the central Spanish Patio is a livable space specifically made for meals and memories. Thus, it is only fitting that Casa Granada a home perched on Californian soil rich with Spanish history and an outdoor lifestyle- follows this age-old tradition with an open floor plan. The Patio was born in the fusion of Spanish and Islamic architecture during the eight centuries of Muslim rule in the Spanish Peninsula. In 1492 AC the iconic Reyes Catolicos, Isabel de Castilla and Fernando de Aragon, ran the last Alhambra Palace, Granada, Spain, 1000 AD Muslims out of Spain as they conquered Granada; yet, Islamic heritage lingered in the gastronomic, linguistic and cultural tradition of many Spaniards. The Palace of Granada, better known as the Alhambra, is a complex fortress originally built in 889 AC and reconstructed by the Moorish emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada in the thirteenth century. The archetypal Palace encloses countless Patios including the 140-foot by 74-foot Patio de los Arrayanes (Court of Myrtles) and the 116-foot by 66-foot Patio de los Leones (Court of the Lions). Much like Casa Granada, the former Patio is set at the entrance of the Palace, welcoming visitors with an open, bright space that boasts a stunning pool. Similarly, all of the rooms in the Casa Real (Moorish Palace) open to a central interior courtyard. The miscegenation of Islamic and Spanish architecture is most evident in the Palacio de la Condesa de Lebrija, a sixteenth century mansion in Seville remodeled by the Countess of Lebrija in the beginning of the twentieth century. This stunning household has an interior central Patio that features traditional Moorish mudejar styled arches combined with Spanish Triana Azulejos (tiles) from old convents. Much of the inspiration for Casa Granada` comes from these breathtaking Spanish Palaces. The Developers, Roberto and Rosario Lebrija, have made it their mission to celebrate Spanish architecture, as they both descend from Spanish migrants. Palacio de la Condesa de Lebrija, Seville, Spain, 1500 AD The Madison Club The Madison Club is the most exclusive private residential community in La Quinta, California, offering the finest golf and club facilities in an intimate and sophisticated setting in the Coachella Valley; a modern interpretation of California’s classic old-line country clubs. Nestled between mountain ranges, which top out around 11,000 feet in elevation, the Coachella Valley is effectively sheltered from nearly all bad weather coming off the Pacific Ocean. As a result, The Madison Club gets approximately 350 days of sunshine per year with an average winter daytime temperature of 80 degrees, making it an ideal winter retreat. The excellent weather combined with its proximity to Los Angeles have long made The Desert a vacation hot spot. Numerous A-Listers, such as Frank Sinatra, Liberace, Cary Grant and Bob Hope, made the desert their home and the new generation of Hollywood continue to be frequent visitors. The Madison Club, La Quinta, California The Project Casa Granada is a single level custom home located at The Madison Club, La Quinta, California. The project’s exterior design springs from traditional Spanish architecture yet retains comfort with an interior transitional style. The house is built around El Patio de Olivos (the Grand Interior Courtyard), where colossal sliding doors connect the Terraza de Olivos (roofed north facing terrace) to the parallel southward facing Terraza de Alberca (Pool Terrace). The translucent glass doors enclose the Great Room, Kitchen, Dining Room and Bar and create a hybrid space perfect for both indoor and outdoor living. A great trellis and four Old Spanish olive trees dominate this inner courtyard. Next, a covered terrace that overlooks the Patio de Olivos invites friends and family to lounge and laugh together with a gaming table, two sofas and a large coffee table. In the center of the courtyard lies an exterior wood marble dinning table for eight, covered by the grand trellis. This space also features a grand fireplace, a fully equipped barbeque and wet bar, and a tall marble fire table. Numerous citrus, orange trumpet trees and vines embellish and cleanse the Patio. Flanking the other side of the house is a roofed terrace that overlooks the massive infinity pool, golf course and south and west views of the entire Santa Rosa and San Bernardino mountains. The garden of Casa Granada integrates with the golf course, as it’s unique location allows it’s residents to walk a few steps into the back practice tee of the Madison Club practice range. The house also features a private putting green. The Home Theatre integrates to the Patio de Olivos with grand pocket doors.
