DAILY SAFETY INSPECTION PROCEDURE
Set up check points before each operation
Before each operation of your Pipe Hunter, the entire machine should be checked thoroughly for 'Weal' areas, loose
parts, or any other items that could cause problems during your sewer cleaning operation. The following steps
should be followed during your check.
WARNING
Do not start engine. Make sure parking brakes are locked, and keys are removed from ignition. Checkpoints should
be made with the power and/or PrO off, with pump control in the neutral position. . Failure to do so could result in
operator becoming entangled in moving parts.
Check oil in pump.
Check the suction valves on hydraulic tank. Make sure they are in the open position.
Check for proper hydraulic oil level Fill as necessary.
If available, check service indicator on pressure filter.
Inspect the water sump strainer and clean as necessary.
Check the water valve betvveen the water tank. and water pump. Make sure it is in the open position.
Water level in tank should be filled to a level above the head of the pump. This will insure proper priming of the
pump.
Inspect the tank for foreign material or scale. Clean as necessary.
Check air purge valve. Make sure that it is in the closed position.
Inspect all hose and piping for damage and leaks. Replace as necessary.
Check all hydraulic hoses for leakage. Always relieve pressure on system before checking by shutting off the
engine and moving control ~~rs back and forth.
Check oil level in engine. (Refer to engine manual)
Check fuel in fuel tanks.
WARNING
Do not fill fuel tanks around open flame. Fuel is highly flammable and could cause serious burn to personnel and
machinery.
Check that all bolts and nuts on guards are in place, and properly tightened
NOI'E: For safety reasons, it is recommended that this unit be operated by factory trained personnel
Operating Your Dired Driven Pipe Hunter for Sewer Cleaning
Before attaching hose from hydrant or water outlet, flush hydrant then attach to refill inlet Open tank lid and fill
tank to capacity with clean water to avoid clogging strainers and nozzles.
CAUTION
When water in tank is low and pump loses pressure. Refill tank.
Position hose guides over the center of the manhole.
Make sure water control valve is in by-pass position.
Position the hose through the hose guides on the reel. Put hose into the sewer line jet upstream to the normal flow of
water through the tiger tail hose protector.
Position tiger tail hose protector against lip of sewer line, and tie off anchor rope.
CAUTION
Always use hose guide to prevent possible damage to hose by rubbing against the sharp edges. Failure to do so
could result in short life of hose. Use of a sldd assembly, and leader hose is recommended.
Engage pump control lever
With engine at idle~ pull water valve handle to pressure position. This lets water fill the hose and pressure will begin
to rise. Note: Changing valve position under high pressure shortens valve life.
Gradually open throttle to until desired pressure is reached. Check for maximum RPM
Use hydraulic control valve handle to unwind the hose from the reel. Both the control valve and the needle valve
can regulate speed of the reel.
For safety reasons, it-is recommended that only factory-trained personnel run this equipment
To Shut unit down:
Adjust throttle to lowest idle.
Allow water pressure to reduce to lowest level.
Move water control to bypass or neutral position.

OPERATION OF A WASH OFF GUN SYSTEM
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTION & CARE
Since the results obtainable from the use of spray equipment will depend in no small measure on the performance of
the spray gun used with that equipment, it is of great importance to the user to see that the gun equipment is
understood and operated properly.
Following is a list of suggestions, which should be followed to help achieve maximum wash gun performance.
1. Keep all spray solution filters and/or strainers clean and in proper position to prevent clogging the gun by coarse
material.
2. Keep all packing and moving parts of the gun well lubricated.
3. Use only high-grade packing materials, properly fitted, lubricated and tightened to prevent leakage. Leaking
packing reduces gun efficiency rapidly.
4. Nozzle the gun properly, adapting it to the job and material requirements, to save time and material.
the nozzle promptly when the abrasive action of the spray material has enlarged the disc hole.
Replace
Alwavs operate the handgun at recommended PSI and GPM.
5. Avoid dropping the gun on hard surfaces, prying, pounding or excessive wrench torque when servicing the gun.
Cracked or distorted gun parts can be a major performance handicap.
6. Always clean and lubricated the gun at the conclusion of any period of usage.
7. Protect the gun from damage by freezing of liquid allowed to remain in the gun.
8. Prepare the gun for storage by (a) a thorough cleaning, (b) draining all liquid form the gun, (c) pour a small
quantity of clean light oil into the gun and work the discharge control to allow the oil to cover all interior surfaces of
the gun, (d) store the gun if possible with the discharge end pointing downward and with the discharge control or
trigger in the open position to allow as much ventilation as possible for evaporation of any condensation.
The handgun hose can only be operated on the low-pressure side of the system. Connect the quick disconnect on the
handgun to the quick disconnect on the control panel when pump drive in neutral position. Check that trigger lock
on the handgun is released before connecting the hose. The handgun should only be operated at idle speed, at
recommended PSI and GPM.
For safety reasons, it is recoJpmended that only factory-trained personnel run this equipment.
