Memorial service: A memorial
service for John E. Estle will be held
tomorrow at 10 a.m., Center Chapel,
Bldg. 315 Merritt Road. Estle passed
away Sept. 6 and was assigned to the
U.S. Army Garrison here. Estle worked
in the Directorate of Plans, Training,
Mobilization, and Security Range
Branch as the range complex manager
of the Oro Grande Range Complex.

Road closure: Doniphan Road
will be closed between Cassidy and
Pike roads, through Oct. 10 due to removal and repaving of road. For more

Rod and Gun Club closure:
Due to unavoidable pipeline construction, all ranges at the Fort Bliss Rod
and Gun Club will be closed through
Monday. Work may continue through
Sept. 30, if necessary. The closure is
to protect the safety of the club’s patrons and the pipeline workers. The Pro
Shop and Bullseye Bar and Grill will
remain open, with modified hours. The
Pro Shop will be open from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The
Bullseye Grill will operate from 11
a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and
Saturday. The bar will be open from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The club will host a Community
Appreciation weekend Oct. 5 and 6.
On these days, enjoy waived daily
range fees (excluding sporting clays,
trap and skeet) and free refreshments.

ACAP Career Fair: The Association
of the United States Army and the Army
Career and Alumni Program will host the
ACAP Career Fair Oct. 16. The fair is from
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Centennial Banquet
and Conference Center, Bldg 11199 on
East Fort Bliss. The fair is open to activeduty military, family members, retirees,
veterans, and DoD/DA ID card holders. To

Join the Air Force: The Prior Service
Program in the U.S. Air Force is a simple
process open to certain former members of
the military as well as those currently serving in the reserve and guard forces, who
want to join the U.S. Air Force. A select
number of applicants will fall into direct
duty with no time in service requirements or
retraining categories. Applicants not falling
into the first direct duty category should refer to their local recruiter for the most recent
Prior Service Matrix to determine their tentative eligibility. Members who do not qualify
for one of the direct duty positions may be
eligible to retrain (most common for sister
service candidates). Applicants are accepted on a first come, first served basis. However, the total is subject to change based on

Retiree Appreciation Day: Retiree
Appreciation Day will be observed Satruday, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the
U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy auditorium. Retirees (all services), widows,
survivors and family members are invited
to attend. Keynote Speaker is retired Navy
Commander Katherine O”Neill Tracy,
deputy director of the Benefits Information
Department, Military Officers Association
of America. She will provide briefings on
current and pending legislation that impacts
retirees, widows and family members. Briefings will also include other topics of interest
such as survivor benefits. Other briefings
include updates on WBAMC, Fort Bliss and

Best Ranger Competition: Fort Bliss
will host the Best Ranger Competition Oct.
22 through 24. Top four finishers will represent Fort Bliss at the David E. Grange Ranger Competition at Fort Benning, Ga. Any

Funded Legal Education Program: Apply for the 2013 Judge Advocate General”s Funded Legal Education
Program. Every year the Army pays for up
to 25 active duty commissioned officers to
attend law school. This program is open to
commissioned officers in the rank of second
lieutenant through captain. Applicants must
have at least two, but not more than six,
years of total active federal service at the
time the legal training begins. The application deadline is Nov. 1. Applicants must
send their application through command
channels, to include the officer”s branch
manager at AHRC, with a copy furnished
to the Office of the Judge Advocate General, ATTN: DAJA-PT (Yvonne Caron, Room
2B517), 2200 Army Pentagon, Washington, D.C., 20310. Applicants should immediately register for the earliest offering of the
local Law School Admission Test. Interested

Domestic Violence Awareness:
The Army Community Service is holding a
poster-designing contest to help promote
“End Domestic Violence” awareness month.
Design a poster that promotes ending domestic violence and submit no later than
Monday, ACS, Bldg. 2494 Ricker Road.
Posters may be created individually or by
teams. Teams may consist of any combination of military ID cardholders. Posters
will be displayed at the Domestic Violence

MWR Through the Years: Take a

Beginner outdoors workshop:
If you’re new to the outdoors, never fear:
Southwest Adventure will host a beginner
