Mahabaleshwar Mahabaleshwar, a hill station in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Blessed with the goodness of nature, this picturesque and serene destination offers mesmerizing views of the soaring peaks, verdant forests, green valleys and the sparkling rivers. Mahabaleshwar is the perfect destination to relax and rejuvenate in leisure. Some of the famous tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar include Panchgani, Tapola and Pratapgad Fort. Kshetra Mahabaleshwar temple is another famous tourist attraction that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is also the origin of Maharashtra's five important rivers. Day 01 For first day of the trip, here is a plan of activities that you can do. I have recommended a few places within Mahabaleshwar that are a must see. 1.Wilson Point Although Wilson Point is a very popular tourist destination, yet I have suggested this place to you against your requirement. The reason is that if you visit this place early in the morning you will find a very few tourists. You will be saved from all the crowd of tourists so early in the morning. The place has two specialities- one is the sunrise view from this point and another is that it is the highest point of Mahabaleshwar. How can one miss such a lovely place!! Since you are going with your spouse, I highly recommend you to visit this place. Why not begin you trip on such a beautiful note!! 2.Babington House Babington House is one of the most beautiful country houses in Mahabaleshwar. The attraction is near by Arthur Seat which is a very famous tourist spot in Mahabaleshwar. But this house is visited by only a few tourists, you can definitely see what others miss out. I highly recommend you to visit the Library section of this house. Here you will find first editions of various books. 3.Polo Ground Polo Ground is a place near a famous tourist attraction Bombay Point. You can reach the place by passing through a forest along Tiger Path. The place will be your cup of tea if you are open to long walk. This place provides excellent trails for those interested in trail tours. You can also enjoy sunset view at Bombay Point, which it is famous for 4.Cream Corner Garden Restaurant After a full day of enjoyment, now is the time to taste the local cuisine of Mahabaleshwar. Since the place is famous for strawberries, how can one not try anything which includes strawberries? Cream Corner Garden Restaurant is the place where you can enjoy the specialty of Mahabaleshwar- Strawberry with Cream. DAY 02 After a fantastic day, now is the time to move on to Panchgani which is approximately at a distance of 19km from Mahabaleshwar. It will take only 20-25 minutes to reach here from Mahabaleshwar. 1.Panchgani Panchgani is a small hill station near Mahabaleshwar. You can see several attractions on the way to Panchgani. One of them is Parsi Point. From here you can have a spectacular view of Krishna Valley and Dhom Dam Lake. Another attraction include Sydney Point, Table Land-it is the second largest plateau in Asia, Devil's Kitchen near Table Land. The place is undoubtedly very beautiful and has remained as a place famous for movie shoots. May be you also encounter any movie shoot here. 2.Wai From Panchgani you can move on to the next place, Wai. It is approximately a 15 min drive from Panchgani. Wai is a perfect place for you as it will offer you complete isolation from the city crowd. The first place that can be visited here is Dhom Dam and Balkawadi Dam. These are the perfect places to see the bauty of River Krishna and mountains. From here you can also get a view of Kate's Point or Needle Point in Mahabaleshwar. 3.Nagewadi On the way back to Mahabaleshwar from Wai, you can make a stop at Nagewadi which is a small village in Satara District. Here you can spend some quality time at Nagewadi Dam which is the main attraction of this place. Spending some time here will also give you an opportunity to have a look at the rural life in Mahabaleshwar. Apart from these you can also visit Anandvan Farm in Wai. It is a unique experience in itself. The farm cultivates mangoes, lemon, grams and many other things using organic manure only. DAY 03 During the last day of the trip, I have suggested only two places to visit in order to make your trip less hectic. Read on for my suggestions for the day. 1.Pratapgadh Fort The Pratapgadh Fort is located at a distance of 24 km from from Mahabaleshwar. At the toe of the fort lies the Tomb of Afzal Khan. Afzal Khan, general of Bijapur was killed by Shivaji here. I recommend you visiting this place if you want to explore the historic side of Mahabaleshwar. You would love to visit it then. 2.Tapola Tapola is at distance of 28 km from Mahabaleshwar. It will take approximately 35min to reach here. You should make only one choice from Pratapgad Fort or Tapola, because both the places will not be covered the same day. You can choose the one which you find better. If I had to choose, I would definitely pick Tapola because the place is an ideal picnic place and also you can enjoy boating here, else remains up to you. 3.Velocity Entertainments Velocity Entertainments is a theme park. I have suggested you this place keeping in mind that you are travelling with two kids also. So, it should be a fun time for them too. But it doesn't mean that place will have nothing in store for you.You can also enjoy several rides in the park. Along with the amusement activities, this place provides you a few restaurants to eat at. I think its not at all a bad idea to end your trip with this fun place.
