Welcome
to the Knoxville Symphony League
Show House XXII
As President of the Knoxville Symphony League, I welcome you,
along with the league members to this year’s unique and unusual
home. Jefferson Park is so beautiful as you drive in with the lovely
trees and twelve miles of walking trails. The design of the house
and the back drop Mother Nature gives with the peaceful lake is
breathtaking as you approach the front door.
Loretta Crowder and Sondra Nanney began working on this
house almost before the door was closed on last year’s house. They
have worked closely with the developer, Scott Davis, and all has gone
well. Chip Seigler is the builder, and he is so very easy to work with
and does a great job.
So many people go into making this project successful; the
designers with their creativity and imagination, the companies who
have corporate or private parties in the house and those restaurants
Willene Chalmers, President
who donate for these parties and room sponsors and all who work
to help the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra stay alive and well. It
goes without saying our own League members take a leading role in this endeavor. They volunteer their time as
hostesses in the house and you will find at least 35 to 40 league members dedicating their time in the house on any
given day. We must not forget our Symphony Gift Shop and the Lakeside Café, catered by Rex Bradford Jones,
with his famous iced tea and delectable food.
The Knoxville Symphony League is made up of around 300 women who organize three primary fund raisers
each year. First is our Winter Ball held at Cherokee Country Club the first Saturday in December, second is
Elegant Dining, usually thirty to forty events and the Show House in April. These events make the League the
Knoxville Symphony Orchestra’s largest contributor. We also provide support for the Youth Orchestra including
funding scholarships, providing docents to the schools and ushers for the Young People Concerts.
If you would like to know more about the Knoxville Symphony League you may call 523-1178 or visit our
website www.knoxvillesymphonyleague.org.
Thank you for your support.
Willene Chalmers, President
Knoxville Symphony League
The Show House Committee
The Knoxville Symphony League
Welcomes you to Show House XXII
Loretta Crowder
Jefferson Park developer Scott Davis made a prime location
available to the League for their annual fund raiser to support
the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. Builder Chip Seigler took the
plans of home Designer Stephen Davis and created a beautiful show
place for this year’s Show House! Home owner Mrs. Robbie Nutt
has graciously given the League the use of the house for this very
worthy event.
The generous contributions of the area’s most talented designers,
artisans, and craftsmen are on display for your enjoyment as you tour
the house and grounds. As always, the Knoxville Symphony League
aspires to make your visit very special and our volunteers are readily
available to assist you. Collect a wealth of new design ideas, enjoy a
delicious lunch in The Lakeside Café and be sure to treat yourself to
the treasures available in The Symphony Gift Shop.
Thank you for your support!

About the Home:
As the developer of Jefferson Park, Scott Davis was motivated to make sure the
first home built on the water in Jefferson Park set a high standard for the entire
developement. The attention to detail and Jeffersonian architectural features are
evident throughout the home and transcend into the visual theme of the entire area.
Scott and his family previously lived in Richmond, Virginia and Savannah,
Georgia. Summers were spent vacationing along the outer banks of North and
South Carolina. These experiences inspired the combination of open air, a laid back
beach feel along with traditional southern grace and charm as the design of the
Show House was formulated.
With its’ open floor plan, sprawling porches and pations overlooking Ft. Loudon
Lake, the 8000 square foot home was built and designed for entertaining. Taking
advantage of the peninsula lot, virtually every room in the home has a magnificent
view of the lake, each with unique features. The southern charm and grace of
Richmond, Savannah and Charleston can now be found on the laid back shores of
Ft. Loudon Lake.
About the Home Designer
In the nearly two decades that Stephen Davis Home Designs has been in eastern Tennessee, the firm has left
its mark, particularly in Knoxville, through an array of attractive homes in varying sizes and styles. Stephen
loves diversity and homes range from classical to contemporary, with the one constant being that each home is a
reflection of its owners. For the many clients in the region who desire an Old World look, Stephen has traveled
to Europe twice or more annually for the past dozen-plus years, visiting more than 20 nations and building
an extensive photography collection of residential architecture that informs his approach to European-styled
homes. Of course, no matter the particular vernacular, the end result is a harmonious blend of functionality
and aesthetic charm; it is this outcome --- exceeding expectations --- that Stephen truly delights in and makes
work a joyous endeavor.
A small firm that produces grand results, Stephen Davis Home Designs is the result of Stephen’s many varied
and valuable skills and endeavors, the results of which can be seen in the enduring elegance of each home built.

About the Builder
“Building Dreams...One Home at a Time”
Simply put, Chip Seigler enjoys working on custom homes. His passion is a serious sense of professionalism
that can be very soothing for the client who is about to make the investment of his or her lifetime. It is
the combination of two things that have made Seigler Building & Development one of the go-to names in
the Knoxville area for custom homes. Chip says, “The relationship between builder and client has to be a
partnership. Two things we hang our hat on are customer service and flexibility. Another main objective in
working with our clients is discovering what their needs are and then meeting those needs.”
Chip Seigler is a 1996 graduate of the University of Tennessee. Chip was also the builder of the 2006
Knoxville Symphony League Show House. Chip focuses mainly on high-end residential projects in areas
such as The Woods of Montgomery Cove, Victoriaís Inlet, Mallard Bay, The River Club, Berkeley Park,
LasheBrooke, Tellico, Bridgemore and Jefferson Park. Experienced Professionals, Proven Performance, Quality
Workmanship and Uncompromising Commitment to Excellence serve as the cornerstones for Seigler Building
& Devleopment. SBD’s vision is simple - they are committed to building custom luxury homes with superior
quality, while exceeding client’s expectations and providing top levels of customer.
About the Homeowner
Robbie B. Nutt, a long-time resident of Knoxville, is the very proud owner of the 2009 Knoxville Symphony
League Show House. Born and raised in Ooltewah, TN., Robbie moved to Knoxville in the early sixties to work
and raise her family in the small, but growing college town. Seeing her children graduate from the University
of Tennessee and start families of their own, Robbie has spent the last few years as a passionate supporter
and contributor to many local organizations such as STAR (Shangri-La Theraputic Academy of Riding), the
University of TN Engineering Department, and the UT Woman’s Athletic Department. When Robbie was
presented with the opportunity to participate in KSL’s annual fundraiser, she saw it as a wonderful way to
support another great Knoxville institution, and an opportunity to work with Knoxville’s best interior designers
to put the finishing touches on her new home.
Having lived on Fort Loudon Lake for many years, Robbie is now looking forward to once again spending time
on the water with her family; son, Robert E. Nutt and his wife Danielle; daughter, Rhonda N. Goble; and her 7
grandchildren, who all live nearby. Therefore, entertaining was a key consideration in the design of Robbie’s new
home. The pool, lake access, theater, and the lake view from every bedroom reflect the spirit of a lady who’s home
is always open to her friends and family, - and now the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and its supporters.

#3 ~ Foyer
The grand foyer creates the first impression as guests arrive at the home; therefore,
it is one of the most important areas in the home.
This home’s charm and elegance is accented by an 18th century marble topped
table with a mirror
above on the right
side wall where
guests arriving
can check their
appearance as
they enter the
home. On the left
wall, there is an
elegant table with
a beautiful flower

and painting on
the wall above a
table. A European

center of the foyer
welcomes you!

#4 ~ Gentleman’s Study
The rich paneling and deep-toned
wood floors give the room a clubby
warmth and a masculine feel.
We have chosen simple fabrics
and unfussy furniture in order not
to detract from the architectural
detailing which give the room its
character.
Natural linen, matelasse, and
simple silks offer a pleasing textural
contrast to the
rich wood tones,
and the thick wool
Greek flokati rug
makes the seating
group cozy and
comfortable.
A game table
and chairs are
adjacent to the
built-in “kibitzer’s
bench” which is
covered in an aged
faux leather that
can be wiped clean
with a damp cloth.
The bar stools are
covered in the same material, making them both stylish and functional.
Accessories and artwork have been chosen to complement the room and the
furnishings, both in the study and in the balcony area overlooking it.
#6 ~ Powder Room (main level)
As you approach this beautiful and unique architectural space, you will be
intriqued by its design. The owner loves
contemporary style, but must compliment
her traditional and antique pieces. The
result is a transitional style that is both
elegant and unique. The concave
focal wall and arched niche above the
commode invite original and dramatic
painting techniques. With these elements
in mind, I knew that a dramatic and
eye catching mural would mesmerize
all of those viewing it. I commissioned
Chriss Hardy of “The Painted Room” to
assist me in this challenging and exciting
task. So look up, down and around and
experience luxury at its best.

#7-12 ~ Master
Bedroom Suite
Upon entering the
master bedroom, one’s
eyes are immediately
drawn to the focal
point of the room - the
bed and the beautiful
custom-made bedding.
Working closely with
the homeowner, and
her personal style
for interior spaces,
determined the color
scheme for the fabrics,
which are tones of slate
blue, chocolate brown
and cream.
The headboard is upholstered with a cream color fabric which ties in perfectly
with the bedding and creates a soft contrast to the wooden frame of the bed. The rug
has a very soft texture and was hand knotted in Turkey.
In order to create more interest in the room without making the walls too busy, I
decided to paint the wall behind the bed in an accent color, which also further helps
to tie the room together.
The round table next to the bed is hand-carved and features a leather top with
brass accents and coasters. The wooden tray on the bed has etched brass inlays and
brass handles. The two Maitland-Smith urn wall panels have an antique and verdigris
patina with an aged regency finished frame.
Original oil paintings and various accent pieces add color and interest and
complete this beautiful master bedroom.

#9 ~ Master Bathroom
The master bath in this home is a
spa like retreat where anyone would
welcome morning. The spacious vanity area with its brushed nickel under
mount sinks is the perfect compliment
to the slick granite counter tops with
heavy veins of grays, browns, and
varying shades of gold. The three
transom windows provide overhead
natural light to the vanities. The intricate valance frames the lone window
with its trailing bells that arch up in
the middle; the coral inspired glass
bead trim compliments the inverted
drapery pleats and iron rods. The
hand knotted wool rugs are scattered
along the floor for added warmth to
the slick profiles.
Magical mirrors of silver, shimmering gold and bronze that are faux finished to
match the décor bring depth to the wall mounted mirrors above the sink tops. Custom
toweling adorned with more coral trim is draped from the free standing towel bars.
Sumptuous soaps are arranged on the mercury glass pedestal soap dishes, and tucked
away in the antique glass canisters are cotton balls and swabs. Calming paintings and
decorative accents complete the tranquil feeling for this lake front master bath.
#10 ~ Artist Gallery
In this cozy and quaint space any artist
will not only find all the tools needed to
be creative but also all the inspiration is
provided. The most outstanding feature
to this studio, the view to the lake, gave
the starting point for the color palette of
aqua blue and earthen brown and for good
measure sprinkle in some silver and bronze
highlights to achieve the right mixture.
The channel cuts in
coordinating fabrics were
designed to perfectly alternate
with the inverted pleats and give a smooth surface for the tassel trim that is
applied to the pleat line of the drapes. The iron rods are carefully placed
to enhance the custom mill work above the windows and the finials stop
just short of hindering the coveted lake view.
The original oil painting of the sailboat anchored on the glass-like
waters of a cove, gives a calm serenity to the space that allows the artist
to relax and give in to their inner creative yearnings. Every need has been
anticipated, all the way down to the tea time snack.
Come in, retreat, and create.

setting with trees viewed from
the glass doors provided cues
for both the color palette and
textural contrasts selected. Hues
of blue and blue-gray from the
water, tones of taupe from the
tree trunks, along with shades
of golden caramel combine
throughout the room. The soft
shimmer of flowing silk, dull and
bright accents of silver, the plush
swirling pattern on the upholstered chairs, and the ridged
fabric of the place mats offer
variations in texture and tone.
On the walls a handpainted monochromatic
stylized leaf and vine motif
lends a custom note to the
décor and relates to the
design cues provided by the
setting. Landscape paintings accentuate the limited
color palette, and one wall
highlights hand-made tiles
that have been mounted on
mirrors and showcased in
frames. Hollyhocks bloom
on a pair of mixed media on
wood panel pieces by Nashville artist Charlotte Terrell.
A beautiful patterned wool
rug from the Royal Heriz
collection, hand-knotted in
Jaipur, India, anchors the
space and echoes wall and ceiling colors. To add sumptuousness and softness to the
room, the doors with transoms were treated like windows, with waterfalls of stationary
silk drapery panels. A custom fabric was created by stitching together in wide horizontal stripes shades of blue, taupe and gold silk.
Dinner is served upon the oval fruitwood table with its lattice design and cabriole
legs. An additional leaf may be added to accommodate eight diners. The curved
backs of the upholstered chairs provide contrast to the many straight lines in the room.
The table settings and tablescape utilize mercury glass birds and mushrooms, and
small glass domed cake stands. The buffet, with its bifold doors with woven cane accents and interior shelves, is multi-functional piece that could also serve as a platform
for a plasma television unit. On a side wall is a
Wellington Hall mini-server, with a custom finish
by artist Lea Motlow. Providing light for evening
dining are a pair of brown jade buffet lamps, and
a chandelier and wall sconces, which were selected
by the homeowner.
Bon appétit!

#18, 19 ~ Loft & Upper Level Terrace
The loft is
the heart of the
second floor. It
is an airy and
open space
overlooking
the great room
as well as the
foyer, being
separated only
by railings, and
connects to
the bedrooms
via hallways.
The loft serves
as a gathering place for those using the bedrooms on this level and as an alternative
place to watch a movie or a favorite TV show. There is comfortable seating - a sofa
and matching loveseat - covered in a fresh yellow and blue tweed textured fabric. The
accent pillows are a toile design of yellow, gold, gray, and blue, edged with a luxurious
fringe.
The focal point of the loft is the entertainment area. The audio-visual components
are housed in the credenza, which has a heavily distressed aged gray finish. The flat
screen TV is discretely hung in a shallow wall cabinet above the credenza in the same
gray finish. When the TV is not in use, the bi-fold doors of the TV cabinet sport a
hand-painted scene which fulfills the need for art above the credenza.
A yellow, gold and ivory wool rug of a traditional Persian design anchors the main
seating area. There are additional chairs, end tables and accent furniture to complete
the scene. The window treatments are striped side panels with plaid cuffs on rich dark
poles.
We are featuring three new original rural Tennessee scenes by Xavier Ironsides,
Knoxville watercolorist well known in this region for his work in the 1960’s and 70’s.
Also featured is one original piece by Suzy Schultz. She is an Atlanta artist who has
been nationally recognized, earning numerous prizes for her paintings and drawings.
Her works tend to be peaceful, restful and project a spiritual atmosphere. The
accessories are more contemporary in style for fun and contrast.
Flanking the pair of French doors, opening
onto the upper terrace on the front of the
house, are wall planters, lushly exuberant with
ferns and assorted greenery. Generous in size,
the upper terrace has three seating areas - two
beside the French doors and the other nestled in
the curve of the front railing above the home’s
main entrance. The furniture is classic teak
which will weather to a soft gray over time, very
much in keeping with the Jeffersonian theme of
this home.

creams accented in silver. The walls are painted in a light yet bright green-blue.
The attic style ceilings are cream and aged with a brown glaze overlay. The room is
grounded with an bright wool rug which unifies the bright, airy and aged color palette
of this unique room. The focal piece of this room is a vibrant apple green custom
upholstered bed by CMI. It features straight lines, a tall upholstered headboard
adorned with rows of chrome nail heads and garnished with an 8" bullion fringe
around the beds base. It is complemented with an equally brillant side chair dressed
in cream chenille and beautifully embellished in chrome nail
heads. The bed is flanked with original hand painted bombay chest
designed specifically for this room. Adjacent to the bed is a hand
painted chest in warm cream tones and outlined in silver.
The fabrics choosen for this room are soft, feminine and casual
elegant. All of the bedding, window treatments, and shower curtian
were custom designed for this beautiful bedroom and bath. The
bedding combines several sized embroidered polka dots, large
stripes, textured solids and a multitude of trims. The window
treatments are suited to compliment the angles of the ceilings in the
bedroom as well as the bathroom. They consist of panels, topped
with beautiful bells and yards of whimsical trims.
The bathroom also features the same color palette. The walls are
hand painted stripes. The ceilings are aged cream. The bedroom
and bath are accented with original art work by a local artist. This
room invites all regardless of age to relax and enjoy the serenity of

#22 ~ Anna’s Lakeside Bedroom
Every little girl deserves a “Once Upon a Time…” room in which to laugh, play
and grow. The vibrant lime-green-yellow hue on the walls serve as an invigorating
backdrop to varying shades of blue, yellow, green, coral and rose to create such a
place. Fun fabrics in paisley, stripes and polka-dots add to the mix to further liven up
the space.
This sunny space was designed to allow a child to transition from the nursery and
toddler years on into the teens. The timeless quality of classic furnishings provide for
a “grown up” bed in which there is plenty of room to snuggle up with a favorite doll
and later make room for a sleep-over with a friend. The large matching armoire with
an arched crown design will hold dainty little outfits for now and accommodate a TV
in the future. The chenille swivel rocker is just the right size to curl up with a book or
just daydream the day away while watching the sun set over the lake. In addition to
providing visual relief from the stimulating wall color, the colorful window treatments
frame the stunning lake views from the triple windows and the roman shades allow for
privacy.
A unique feature in this bedroom is the Bridal Bassinet, an original design by Sew
Sentimental Designs. The bassinet cover has been created from a vintage bridal gown
and, now that it is no longer being used for an infant, has found yet another use…a
comfy place for that favorite doll. It is a wonderful way to preserve a beautiful gown
from the past, use it in the present and save for the future.
All of the playful accessories, as well as the hand-painted whimsical banner, can
easily be removed to transform this young ladies room into a bright and cheerful space
that anyone of any age can enjoy.

Anna’s Bathroom
A young lady with an impish smile and pixie face was the
inspiration for this bathroom decor. She brought to mind the vision
of a fairy land where fun and laughter abounds. With that thought,
we went about creating a whimsical world of fairies that will provide
an energetic atmosphere in which any little “pixie” can begin each
new day.
The color scheme for this area came from the token blue and
green tiles that border the shower stall. The blue is continued onto
the walls to create a warm backdrop for the adventurous little fairies
that flit about the room.
Accessories that continue our fairy theme include hand-painted
frames hosting a pair of silhouettes, an apothecary jar filled with
“fairy dust” and a poem hand painted on the wall that defends a
fairy’s petite size. In addition, the room is anchored by a lush grassy
green rug that looks and feels like the real thing!
Luxurious tiles, granite and honey glazed vanity complete this
fun space.

#24, 25 ~ Sara’s Lakeside Bedroom Suite
A fresh, open, and airy atmosphere is what designers, Sally McFalls, Lisa Wiegand,
and Stefani Hopson of The Cottage Door Interiors wanted to create in this young
lady’s bedroom overlooking the water. Using a color palette of blues, greens,
purples, and soft neutrals they were able to bring the freshness of spring indoors.
The inspiration for this room can be found in the linen fabric used for the draperies
which incorporates colorful birds and flowers into this theme. Intricately handcrafted
branches adorn the drapery rod as well as dragonflies, ladybugs and other creatures.
Perhaps, if you pay close attention, you will spot some baby birds in their nests.
Painting the walls a perfect purple and the ceilings a soft green allowed the designers
to add the color needed to compliment the neutral pieces throughout the room.
The focal point of the room, a queen size Pierre Deux Couronne Metal bed, is the
piece-de-resistance with its soft and romantic French style. Also from the Pierre
Deux collection is the secret desk, or bureau pente, fashioned with cabriole legs and
decorative carvings. A complementary desk chair is upholstered in a soft green fabric
that quietly boasts nature’s beautiful insects. Not to be outdone, the elegant but comfy
sofa dressed in nubby, white cotton is flanked by two graceful bookcases in a warm
wood finish.
A colorful and
somewhat
playful area
rug positioned
under the
bed helps to
ground the
space and
add a bit
of youthful
whimsy and
contemporary
flair to this
grown-
up space. Nature-themed
accessories, neutral candlestick
lamps, and colorful artwork
add the finishing touches to this
gorgeous room.
The Cottage Door Interiors’
mantra has always been, “Your
home should be your happy
place” - and this room definitely
speaks “HAPPY”.

Beauty may lie in the eye of the beholder,

To create an intriguing aeire for this space, I
commissioned Christopher Hardy of “The

in an ever-classic mixed stripe pattern.
A custom faux finish of silver lyrics and
shimmering pewter accents compliment the
taupe hues. This beautiful and unique color

#32, 33, 34 ~ Mudroom, Laundry Room and Home Office
Front doors are for guests, but the mudroom entrance, the laundry room and the
home office are the unsung workhorses of the home, the places where real-world
family living happens, day in and day out. In this case, Yessick’s Design Center has
helped turn what might otherwise be a strictly utilitarian area of the home into a
beautiful space in its own right. After all, why shouldn’t a family be surrounded by
comfort and beauty in rooms where it spends so much of its time? We believe we’ve
designed an area that a homeowner wouldn’t dream of closing off when company
comes to visit. As a matter of fact, once friends and family see how we have helped
these everyday rooms transcend the ordinary, they might stop using the front door
altogether!
Mud Room
Just because this is where bags, coats,
shoes and sports equipment get deposited
(sometimes wet and muddy), doesn’t
mean the mudroom doesn’t deserve a
little respect. We’ve given this room a lot
of R-E-S-P-E-C-T and a little bit of TLC
too thanks to a clean palette of neutral
colors that not only is relaxing and easy
on the eyes, but complements the natural
beauty just outside this wonderful home.
Gorgeous custom cabinetry is in place
to make sure that outdoor gear gets put
away properly, rather than left in piles on
the floor. The bench seats with durable
charcoal-and-cream-stripe fabric provides
a lovely yet comfortable place to sit while
putting things away. Just for fun, we’ve
added a coordinating leopard fabric and accent pillows made with a casual linen with
leafy-vine print. You’ll find the same fabric in the window treatments, along with
charcoal cording. All the fabrics used are both stylish and durable. The coordinating
rugs not only anchor the space with style, but also protect the floor from heavy traffic.
Artwork and accessories complete the look of this entryway.
Laundry Room
We started with a large space with lots of natural light and enhanced its attributes
with a continuation of the clean, understated color palette featured in the mudroom.
On the functional side, there’s a sink to complement the washer and dryer, but because
this room also serves as an entry from the pool area, we’ve
decided to make it a space that guests can also admire when
they’re dropping off those wet towels and bathing suits.
The unique faux finish on the walls done by Regann Hunt
of Art Elegance creates a lovely framework for accents like
the refined window treatment, which softens the room with
subtlety. Artwork has been utilized to not only add a little
flair to the laundry area specifically but to tie it in with the
adjoining rooms as well.
Home Office
By definition, an office is a functional place, and
we’ve seen to it that this fun little nook is just that with
an abundance of custom, glazed-cream cabinets and a
comfortable office chair. Whether someone is checking
e-mail, paying bills or working on that big project, we’ve
made sure that everything needed to run a household has its
own place and is easy to find. We’ve featured a darker shade
of paint on the walls to both accentuate the cabinetry and
helped create a cozy atmosphere within this space.

The main goal in designing this stunning kitchen is to accentuate but not compete
with the charming architecture. Accessories in the kitchen will showcase the carved
furniture style cabinetry and blend beautifully with the great room living space.
Accent pieces provided by the Glass Bazaar will combine function and style.
The kitchen contains two
separately functioning islands.
The first area will welcome
diners for entertaining. The
double apron sink is flanked by
rosemary topiaries declaring this
a garden kitchen. Linen dish
towels will add casual elegance
to the space. The second island
contains a prep sink inserted in
a walnut counter top. A stack
of cook books will provide a
decorative touch with a basket
of herbs ready for the cook.
The gorgeous delirium
granite counter tops
surrounding the softly matching
cabinets deserve a neutral palate
further emphasizing this stylish
Kitchen.
Virginia’s Framery presents
the display of art adding further
interest in this space as well as elegance.
While the range plays host to decorative and functional cookware; new and
antique pieces add great interest when used together such as the pepper mill and
