CyBro-2 User Manual rev. 5 © 2009 Cybrotech Ltd Cybrotech Ltd 14 Brinell Way, Harfreys Industrial Estate Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, Nr31 OLU - UK tel: +44 (0)1157 149 991 www.cybrotech.co.uk info@cybrotech.co.uk Introduction Preface This manual describes hardware and installation of CyBro-2 programmable logic controllers, together with the extension units and modules. For information about programming, please refer to CyPro Manual, which you can download from the www.cybrotech.co.uk. Safety guidelines This manual contains notices to which you should pay attention to ensure personnel safety, as well as to protect the controller and the connected equipment. These notices are highlighted in the manual by a warning triangle: Warning which indicates that death, severe personal injury or substantial property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken. Caution which indicates that minor to medium personal injury or property damage can result if proper precautions are not taken. Warning This product can only function correctly if it is transported, stored, set up and installed correctly, and operated and maintained as recommended. Failure to comply with applicable codes and standards can result in damage to equipment or serious injury to personnel. To minimize the risk of potential safety problems, you should follow all applicable local and national codes that regulate the installation and operation of your equipment. These codes vary geographically and usually change with time. It is your responsibility to determine which codes should be followed, and to verify that the equipment, installation, and operation comply with the latest revision of these codes. We do not guarantee the products described in this publication are suitable for your particular application, nor do we assume any responsibility for your product design, installation or operation. 1 Contents 1. Connect the PC serial port to CyBro-2 programming port (COM1). Use RS-232C programming cable. CyPro RS-232C CyBro-2 PC 3. Install the CyPro programming software. 4. Open an example from CyPro/Examples, autodetect hardware. 5. Press Start button. CyPro will automatically compile the program, send it to CyBro-2 and start the controller. 3 CyBro-2 CyBro-2 is a high performance programmable logic controller, featuring 230V AC or 24V DC supply voltages, digital/analog inputs/outputs, ethernet, two programmable RS-232C serial ports, high speed counter and real time clock. +24V 0V C3 IX0 IX1 IX2 IX3 IX4 IX5 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 IX6 IX7 C4 IX8A IX9B Z C2 IW2 IW3 28 34 29 30 31 32 33 35 36 IEX-2 19 COM1 1 2 230V~ L N 1 4 5 6 7 8 9 C0 QX0 QX1 QX2 QX3 QX4 4 RS-232 1 - TxD 2 - RxD 4 - GND 4 ETHERNET COM2 3 1 1 - GND 2 - CANL 3 - CANH 4 - +24V 10 11 12 13 C1 QX5 QX6 QX7 STOP 14 15 16 17 18 QW0 IW0 IW1 C2 RUN 1 8 1 - Tx+ 2 - Tx3 - Rx+ 6 - Rx- Ethernet UTP cross/straight autodetection The RUN/STOP switch determines the program state after applying power supply. If the switch is in the RUN position, CyBro-2 will automatically start executing the program. If the switch position is altered, the program state will be changed accordingly. If CyBro-2 is connected to the PC, it is possible to send a new program and change the program state from the PC, regardless of the switch position. 4 Programming cable (CAD-PP-P2) 12 3 CyBro-2 RJ-9 1-TxD 2-RxD 4-GND 4 RJ-9 modular jack 4/4 PC DB-9 F 2-RxD 3-TxD 5-GND 4-DTR and 6-DSR 5 4 3 2 1 9 8 7 6 DB-9 female Pin 3 on CyBro-2 side is not connected. Total power dissipation of CyBro-2 and other devices inside enclosure (cabinet) must not exceed permissible power dissipation of enclosure. CyBro-2 is designed for natural convection cooling. You must provide a clearance of at least 30 mm, both above and below the units, for proper cooling. Caution Use this product in an environment as described in this document. If this product is subject to high temperature, high humidity, excessive dust, corrosive gases, vibration or shock, it may result in an electric shock, fire or malfunction. Install this product according to instructions in this manual. If installation is not performed correctly, it may result in unit failing or malfunction. Do not allow foreign objects as wire chips to enter the unit. This may cause fire, unit failure or malfunction. Open the DIN clip to allow mounting, and snap close to secure the unit on the rail. When connecting the units by using the shortest IEX-2 connection cables, snap the cable to the left unit first, and then snap the right unit onto the cable. 1. push When the units are connected together, the distance between them is very small. Use the small screwdriver to press cable connector clip and pull the unit away to disconnect. 2. pull L For mounting OP-2 at the control panel, use special self-tapping screws for plastic 3xL. Install and operate all equipment according to national and local standards. All wirings should be performed by qualified personnel. Warning Control devices may fail in an unsafe condition, resulting in unexpected operation of controlled equipment. Such unexpected action could result in death or serious personal injury, and/or equipment damage. Install emergency stop switch, electromechanical overrides, or other redundant safeguards that are independent of the programmable controller. Warning Connect a power supply that meets the voltage rating, shown on the front panel. A CyBro-2 may fail in an unsafe manner or present an electrical shock hazard to personnel if high voltage is applied to terminals intended for 24V= circuit connections. Such a failure or shock could result in death or serious personal injury, and/or equipment damage. Always supply 24V= circuits from a source that provides safe electrical separation from 120/230V~ power. Provide a circuit breaker rated 10A/Type B that removes power from CyBro-2 and all the connected expansions. The circuit breaker or separate disconnect switch should be near the controller. Warning Never touch the terminals while the power is on. There is a risk of an electric shock, which could result in death or serious personal injury. Separate AC wiring and high-energy DC wiring from low-energy signal wiring. Equip inductive loads with suppression circuits. Use 0.5-1.5 mm˛ (22-14 AWG) size wires. Use 85°C rated wires if there are no external heat sources nearby. Put ferrules (end sleeves) on wires before connecting them to terminals. 26 VIN QX 0V CyBro-2 series DC transistor outputs contain protective clamping diodes that are adequate for most applications. In case of large or frequently switched inductive loads use external suppression diodes (type 1N4001 or equivalent). You can also use diode suppression for DC loads relay switching. +24V 0V inductive load For AC loads relay switching use resistor/capacitor suppressors across either the load or the AC outputs. R > 0.5 x Vrms [Ů] C = 2 to 4 nF for each 10VA of load You can also use metal oxide varistor (MOV) to limit peak voltage. Working voltage of the MOV should be at least 20% greater than the nominal line voltage. There are no spare parts that you can change yourself. In case of malfunction, you should contact local distributor. A routine maintenance check (about every one or two months) of PLC and control system is good practice, and should include the following items: air temperature - check the ambient air temperature in the control cabinet, so the operating temperature range of any component is not exceeded. air filter - if the control cabinet has an air filter, clean or replace it periodically as required. fuses or breakers - verify that all fuses and breakers are intact. air vents - verify that all air vents are clear, allowing air to circulate for cooling.
