Welcome to Lausanne’s 2010 Auction! It is sure to please you with
great food, entertainment, friendship and, of course, lots of silent and live
auction items.
This event, sponsored by Parent Connections, supports furnishings for
the new library and athletic facilities. But, in addition to enjoying the
fundraiser, I hope you will use it also as a friend-raiser, with all of
Lausanne’s family – parents, grandparents, alumni, past parents – coming
together at our annual “family reunion”.
Great auctions are the result of a team effort. I’ve seen this team all
over the school as they have met, cajoled, weaved in and out of carpool
lines and worked long days planning this event. Your enjoyment of this
evening and the funds raised through it are their rewards, for they have
received no other “payment”. As you browse the auction items,
enjoy the food and drink and listen to the music, take a minute to hand
a compliment to those who have made it possible. Thank you to our
Auction Chair, Kathy Gavin, and to all the volunteers who have
worked for many months to make this night a success. See a full listing

AUCTION RULES
Silent Auction Bidding: The Silent Auction Bidding starts at 6:00 p.m. Bidding will close by section starting at
7:15 p.m. Closing times will be clearly marked on each Silent Auction table. Any person wishing to bid on a silent
auction item must place his order number on the appropriate bid sheet. Bids must not be lower than the minimum
stated bid. You may bid as many times as you’d like.
When raising the bid on an item, the bid must be raised by the minimum amount that is listed on the bid sheet. Bids
and raises of less than the specified minimum amounts will not be accepted.
1. All Silent Auction tables will close promptly at the times listed on the table.
An announcement will be made 5 minutes prior to closing down the tables.
2. Once the table has closed, Table Ushers will pull the bid sheets from the tables and give them to
the Check-Out Workers, at which time the winning bidders will be entered into the computer. 3. The highest bidder listed at the time the bid sheet is closed will become the owner of the item.
4. Group bids are a great way to join with others to purchase large or more expensive items. A group
bid requires that a number of people decide to pool their resources to bid on an item and one person
is designated to place the bid. The individual making the bid can collect funds from the others
participating in the group bid but is solely responsible for payment to Lausanne Collegiate School
of the final bid.
5. Payment by the successful bidder may be made at the end of the evening with cash, check, Visa,
MasterCard or Discover. No debit cards are accepted. BIDDERS ARE ENCOURAGED
TO SWIPE THEIR CREDIT CARDS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE AUCTION FOR FASTER CHECK-OUT.
Upon payment at checkout you will receive a copy of the invoice marked “PAID” at which time you will be given
your merchandise.
All purchased items must be paid for and removed from the site on the evening of the sale.
Live Auction Bidding: The Live Auction will begin at approximately 8:15 p.m. Upon arriving, each person will
receive a bid card with a bid number printed on it. During the Live Auction, this bid card will be used to identify
your bid. Do not raise or waive your card in the air unless you are bidding. The auctioneer could easily mistake
such a movement as a valid bid. The bidding can get fast and furious - so only raise your bid card if you are actually making a bid on an item. The Live Auction moves along rather quickly - so pay close attention or you may
miss an item you were interested in bidding on. When bidding be sure to draw the attention of the Auctioneer or
one of the Spotters assisting the Auctioneer. A good rule of thumb - bid early and bid high!
Your bid number and card identifies who you are. Please do not lose your number and card. Lausanne Collegiate
School is not responsible for lost bid cards or fraudulent bids. You are responsible for all bids corresponding to
your card number. Decisions of the auctioneer are final.
Payment by the successful bidder may be made throughout the evening with cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, or
Discover. No debit cards are accepted.

D All certificates and services must be used in accordance with any specified restrictions and by the expiration date
on the certificate.
D All sales are final.
Check out Procedures:
Those utilizing Express Pay will simply go to the Receipt Table located outside the ballroom and pick up your
“paid” receipt. You will then be given your purchases by a volunteer.
Those paying with cash, check, or credit card will pay for their purchases at the Check Out Table. You will receive
a receipt marked paid and will use that to pick up your purchases.

5. Trade Places With Mr. Blackmon for a Day
Donor: Fred Blackmon
Fred Blackmon will go to the lucky student’s classes, take notes and
participate in all the activities of that student for a day. In exchange, the student will act in Mr. Blackmon’s place, come to school and go to his office for the day. Mr. Blackmon will pick up lunch for the student and his/her buddy.

autographed by Lausanne’s own Marc Gasol ‘04 as well as access to one
16 person club suite for a Memphis Grizzlies home game. This suite will
include 16 tickets, 4 guest passes and four reserved parking passes for the
event. Game date to be determined upon the release of the 2010-11
Grizzlies schedule in August 2010.

and Media Services Department will take your game challenge on the big

Guitar Hero, etc.... Feel free to bring your own system and games as well.
Pizza, snacks and drinks will be provided. Winning family should contact
Stewart Crais to arrange a mutually convenient Friday night (6:00 - 8:30 p.m.).
