TATCO®) is a family owned and operated
business established in 1971. Founded in
Lawndale, California, by Donald George
Townend, Co-Founder Sheila F. Townend
(R.I.P. 2006) with the support of there children Tina M. Kinsel, Wendy L. Townend
and Donald E. Townend Jr. (R.I.P. 2000).
TATCO®'s founder, Donald Townend, began the company in the garage of his home
purchasing, repairing and selling surplus
aircraft tooling. We are now a US manufacturer and worldwide distributor of high quality tools and machines for the aviation industry.
TATCO® maintains a professionally staffed
service and repair center capable of handling any and all of your pneumatic and or
electrical portable power tool needs. The
TATCO® Hand Rivet Squeezer is manufactured on site and is distributed around the
world. ITC Aerospace Division products include: “C”-Frame Rivet Machines, Knee
Style Rivet Machines, Nut Plate and Dome
Nut Installation Machines, Part Positioning
Systems, Portable Drill and Rivet Machine
and Fastener Feeding systems.

This tool was designed and built as a portable low cost solution for both small and large aerospace applications. It is made of
aerospace grade stainless steel and heat treated on all wear and deflecting components to 38/42 on the Rockwell Hardness
Scale. A large variety of interchangeable yokes are available with ranges from as small as 1.00” to 6.00” reach. It has proven
itself over the years as a portable rugged solution, for light to medium duty, rivet squeezing applications

Pneumatic Rivet Squeezers
Pneumatic rivet squeezers perform exactly the same task as manual rivet squeezers, but utilize air to perform rivet compression
instead of the manual effort of the laborer. Like manual rivet squeezers, the pneumatic squeezers use yokes to control the dies
and actually compress the rivet. Pneumatic squeezers are available in “C” type, alligator, and offset yokes. Both types of yokes
are available in single cylinder (produces 3000 lbs of pressure), and tandem cylinder (produces 6000 lbs of pressure) for added
power

F.H.L.P.A.S. System For Compression Riveters
The standard 450 Compression Riveter can be equipped with a Finger Hazard Low Pressure Approach System (FHLPAS) to provide
a finger hazard step to the rivet compression process. Purchase options include a TA-450 machine with FHLPAS system installed or
separate purchase of the FHLPAS to upgrade your current inventory of 450 machines. Townend Aerospace will quote to upgrade
your machine at our factory (Lawndale, CA) or onsite at your location. Training location should also be specified in the quotation for
a minimum of 1-2 days instruction for correct FHLPAS operation
TA-450EA-CR-24 FHLPAS or TA-450EA-CR-36 FHLPAS
A two step cycle is necessary for each rivet installation
meaning the foot switch must be depressed twice, for a single rivet install. During the first (activation) step, the upper
ram will start its approach cycle with a maximum force of
approximately 8 lbs. Prior to full extension, the foot switch
can be released causing the upper ram to retract. This extend-retract process via the foot switch is part of the
F.H.L.P.A.S. device built into the system

Hydraulic Shrinking & Stretching Machine
The machine is hydraulic powered and is designed for the heavier
shrinkage or stretching applications. It has the remote control feature
found on our other machines, but instead of being hand-wheel adjusted, the material thickness adjustment is achieved by a much smaller
hand-control knob located on the right side of the machine.
The base is of steel construction and houses the hydraulic power unit
complete with the 20-gallon oil reservoir.

TATCO metal shrinking and stretching machines have been designed and developed in response to the need for equipment
with superior capabilities to work the heavier gauges of the commonly used metals, as well as the high tensile metals used in
the aircraft/aerospace industry
The purpose of the machine is to shrink, or to stretch, metal in a localized area (dependent on jaw configuration). Such metal may be in the form of sheets,
extrusions, angles, flat bars, or plates. One of the important functions is the
forming and fitting of the sections mentioned, after they have passed through
production dies of some type. This machine takes care of what is commonly
known in the sheet metal industry as spring-back

This manual kick shrinking and stretching machine can easily shape
various metals using minimal ram strokes therefore keeping a low

The ITC M Series Machine is a fast and reliable automated drill / rivet installation machine. It is compact, efficient and can be moved from department to
department or from job to job with relative ease.
The M Series portable machine is designed to process a wide range of parts from small clips to medium size subassemblies. Throat depths of 12 or 36
inches are available for the portable machines.
The M Series is offered in both a standard single
spindle model and a dual spindle model. It also can
be purchased with a "C" frame that tilts through 55
degrees. This feature allows large parts that have
flanges that are installed at angles to the main part to
be riveted in the flat position. This can greatly reduce
the cost of tooling and time manipulating the part for
fastener installation.
The M Series is also offered in a floor mounted version. The floor mounted version can be purchased
with either a 24 or 60 inch throat depth. All versions
of the M Series machine operate on 110 volt AC
power and standard shop air (85 psi)

Nutplate Installation Machine
This automatic machine was designed and built by Townend Aerospace Tool Company Division to automatically install nut plates or
dome nuts. The machine will drill and countersink the two nut plate mounting holes, install the nut plate and upset the fasteners. The
machine can also be supplied with a second drill spindle for drilling the nut plate center hole.
A simple change of tooling will permit the machine to operate as a standard drill and rivet machine.
The machine can be ordered in a two-position head or a three-position head if sealant dispensing is needed. Throat depths from 36
inches up to 120 inches are available and upset forces from 12,000 to 20,000 pounds can be provided.
