GTRV becomes the French Society of Nanomedicine
Newsletter n°3 - June 2013 GTRV becomes the French Society of Nanomedicine CONTENTS G Audience TRV association was founded twenty years ago as the “Groupe Thématique de Recherche sur les Vecteurs” by three leading scientists from public sector laboratories in France: Patrick Couvreur, Francis Schuber and Jean Phillipot. It was registered as a non-profitmaking organization with the aim of encouraging scientific collaboration between research groups interested in delivery systems or their targets. The members of the GTRV have a wide range of scientific backgrounds (chemistry, physics, biology, pharmacy, medicine) and are drawn from both the public sector (universities and state research organisations such as CNRS and INSERM) and industry, particularly the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. Since the GTRV has no paid staff, the cost of the Annual Meeting remains low, encouraging student participation. 2012 Event Mission Towards the Nanomedicine Highlights of the annual meeting The activity of the GTRV turns around its Annual Meeting, held during two days in December and attended by 150-200 delegates. The venue alternates between Paris and other French cities; in 1997 the meeting was held in Brussels. The programme includes 4 to 6 invited lectures, in English or French, together with podium and poster free communications. A dinner and, often, a visit to a local place of interest allow for more informal contacts. Since 1995, an award endowed by Sanofi Aventis has been given for the best communication from a young scientist. Debio RP now endows a second award, which has been presented for the first time at the Annual Meeting in Montpellier in December 2005. GTRV & Nanomedicine GTRV Board 2013 Annual Meeting Save the date now ! N anotechnologies for Health have always been the center of interest of the members of the GTRV. The research of our members is now at the frontier between delivery and imaging. To maintain the network of the French community at the top level, we propose to evolve towards the French Society of Nanomedicine. This name is fully consistent with its scientific interests and the desire to see the French groups involved in this field evolving in a recognize environment. The GTRV board is happy to launch the French Society of Nanomedicine. We invite you to join us, participate or propose new actions to be part of the nanomedicine mutation!
