in West Ender Vancouver’s
‘Best of the City’ Awards
VANCOUVER, BC – WE Vancouver readers recently
voted in 75 catagories for their favourite restaurants,
bars, eateries and specialty shops around Vancouver.
The Westender’s November 8th, issue marked the first
edition of their stand-alone Best of the City Dining 2012
readers choice results.
In the ‘International Cuisine’ category, Hapa Izakaya
took home Silver for Best Japanese.

Tonari Gumi’s 11th
Annual Sake Tasting
VANCOUVER, BC – Hapa was proud to participate in
Tonari Gumi ‘s Annual Sake Tasing, held on Oct. 6th,
at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel.
Over 300 guests enjoyed tasting 40 varieties of sake
and plum wines while sampling thoughtfully paired
appetizers by top rated restaurants, such as Hapa’s
lightly smoked Albacore tuna with ponzu jelly, red
onion, shiso leaf; served on a deep fried wonton.
Heidi Hamono, Chair of Tonari Gumi’s Sake Tasting
Committee and Aaron McArthur of Global TV
introduced a variety of events, including an exclusive
VIP Dinner, which helped to raise funds for Tonari
Gumi’s new building, a stunning performance by
calligraphy artist, Etsu Inoue, and an exciting live
auction for premium sakes, making the 11th Annual
Sake Tasting Night a great success!
