Several roads lead down from Begur to discover the beaches and coves in the area. Here one finds the Monumental site of Sant Sebastià, the remains of an Iberian settlement, the lighthouse and a magnificent view over the bays. Drive down to Llafranc and Calella de Palafrugell the porticoed houses on the seafront are a classic example of traditional architecture. Take the GIV-6548 from Calella beach to Palafrugell with its cork-manufacturing tradition. Leave Palafrugell by the C-31 towards La Fosca beach which provides a well worth break. Drive out of La Fosca along the coast until Palamós a town which holds a long maritime tradition. Leaving Palamós follow the road for the attractive seaside town of Sant Antoni de Calonge, and its long and beautiful sandy beach. " Total distance : 65 km Test drive 2 TEST DRIVE ROUTE TWO This route starts in La Bisbal d'Empordà, a major pottery centre. Turn off the main Girona road to the left onto the GI-664 to Cruïlles, and its Benedictine monastery. Continue the route along the GI-664 until Sant Sadurní de l'Heura and its 18th-century church. The Gavarres Mountains are one of the best examples of cork oak woods and maritime pine groves in Catalonia with a rich archaeological and architectural heritage. Take a stop at in the medieval town of Calonge and its bell tower of the 18th century church of Sant Martí. Take the GI-661 out of Calonge towards Sant Antoni de Calonge, going under the ring road. Turn right immediately onto the GIV-6612 and drive through Molins Valley, following the signs to Romanyà de la Selva, the pre-Romanesque church of Sant Martí is well worth a visit and on the way, the spectacular Cove d'en Daina dolmen. Total distance : 105 km Test drive 3 TEST DRIVE ROUTE THREE Tossa de Mar is the most appealing town on this stretch of the Costa Brava. The drive between Sant Feliu and Tossa is one of the most scenic on the Costa Brava and one of the most challenging. As the road climbs through groves of pine and cork, the views are absolutely breathtaking, but you’ll need to pay attention as the road twists and turns atop the clifftops! Marc Chagall, visiting in 1934, called Tossa, ""The Blue Paradise. With its narrow cobbled streets, brilliant flower boxes, and medieval houses, the Old Quarter is a lovely place for a stroll. The massive walls encircling the quarter and their turrets date from the 12th century. It’s worth climbing up Tossa’s largest hill to the lighthouse for the splendid views. And there are three small beaches here for those who want to hit the water."
