Pasqua First Nation Entered into Treaty #4 along
with 12 other First Nations and The Crown on
September 15, 1874
Pasqua First Nation was the first First Nation that
took up lands pursuant to the terms of Treaty #4.
In 1876, Pasqua First Nation was surveyed with
acres totaling some: 38,496 or 60.2 sq. miles.



Treaty #4 promised to each First Nation: 128
acres each or One Square Mile per Family of Five.
The Land set aside as Pasqua Indian Reserve # 79
was for the benefit of all Pasqua First Nation
Members.
Sharing of the land was not only at the time of
Treaty and/or at the time of Surveying Pasqua
First Nation Lands.

Pasqua First Nation Members worked the land
and provided:
 Farming Production
 Livestock Production
 Haying for Livestock

During this time, the people of Pasqua worked
together, sharing and prospering together.

Unfortunately, On June 5, 1906 Pasqua First
Nation surrendered 16,077 acres of their most
productive farmland.
 The surrender caused the People of Pasqua
hardships in the agriculture sector as new
agriculture lands had to be broken for sowing.
