I would like to thank and congratulate Dr Gerry Cleary and his Committee on providing an excellent programme and as usual, recruiting a diverse and most respected group of speakers from Ireland, Britain and North America. The meeting theme is “Surgical Aspects of Dental Practice” and will have four areas of clinical focus in the meeting sessions : Facial Pain (TMD and Trigeminal Neuralgia), Surgical and Restorative aspects of Implant Dentistry, Sedation and Anaesthesia in Dental Practice and Dentoalveolar Surgery. The presentations will address topic overviews, management of clinical scenarios, review of long term experience and suggestions for clinical practice. The Faculty are pleased as always to welcome all our speakers and a particularly warm welcome for our overseas presenters. From North America ; Dr Karel DeLeeuw Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at the Mayo Clinic discusses the surgical aspects of Temporomandibular Disorders and also a North American perspective on Dental Anaesthesia and Sedation. Dr Steve Scrivani and Dr Brian McGeeney both from Boston will address the aetiology, treatment and also controversial aspects of Trigeminal Neuralgia. These meetings cannot proceed without the generous support of many companies. The Faculty are most grateful to all our sponsors and could I please encourage everyone attending the meeting to take some time to visit and speak with the various representatives at the stands in the conference hall during the breaks in the Scientific Sessions.
