innay Bennett is a senior at Lee High School. Her favorite memory of her years here at
Upward Bound has been the Olympics, the dorm experience and hanging in the
cafeteria with her friends. Her favorite class has been Senior Seminar, minus the essays.
Her favorite teacher is Ms. Annie because she will play OMGPOP in their free time!!
Linnay plans to attend Full Sail and major in Recording Arts. She wants to be remembered as a
really cool, laid back individual that was respected with by everyone! Her senior quote is “Call it
a DAE!”

wildaniz Bentley is a senior at Lee High School. Her favorite memory of her years
here at Upward Bound has been meeting new people, and getting close to people
she would have never gotten close to. Her favorite class has been Senior Seminar
because Ms Annie is funny, she is able to be herself in that class and it helps her get
ready for that college journey. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Annie because even those she is an
adult she treats us with respect and doesn’t look down on us. And because she will act like us at
times! Awildaniz’s plans for college are to attend the University of Central Florida and to
become a child care nurse.

urt Brown is a senior at Englewood High School. His favorite memory of his years
here at Upward Bound was his freshman year because he had a lot of fun in the
dorms. His favorite class has been Senior Seminar because he had fun and actually did
the work (and Ms. Annie is a cool white girl). His favorite teacher is Ms Jay because
she is mean and firm and keeps him in line. Kurt’s college plans are to attend University of
North Florida and become a photographer.

iyaka Hemphill is a senior at Lee High School. Her favorite memory here at Upward
Bound was when she placed 1st Runner-Up in the 2009 Coronation. Her favorite classes
have been the encounter groups, great conversations and great laughs. Her favorite
teacher has been Ms. Annie, she feels she is just another student and connects differently with
them. Tiyaka plans to attend the University of Central Florida and major in law.

ichard Jackson is a senior at Lee High School. His favorite memory of the his years
here at Upward Bound are those days when he got a break from the Saturday
Sessions. His favorite clases were the free periods and encounter groups. His favorite
teacher was Mr. Toro because he was a lax teacher. Richard’s college plans are not
final at this point, but he does plan to attend!
A
shlynn James is a senior at Terry Parker High School. Her favorite memory of her
years here at Upward Bound was the Olympics in Tallahassee in the Summer 08
session. Her favorite class is Senior Seminar becaue it helps her prepare for her
senior year and for college, it rocks! Her facorite teacher is Ms. Jay, because Ashlynn
loves math and because Ms. Jay is hard on her, but in a good way, she pushes
Ashlynn to do what she knows she can do. She can tell Ms. Jay any and everything and knows it
stays between them! “I LOVE YOU MS JAY!!” Ashlynn’s college plans are to attend University of
Maryland and major in medicine specializing in pediatrics. She also plans to join the Air-Force
reserves.

aron Johnson is a senior at Raines High School. His favorite memory of his years
here at Upward Bound was the Spring Trip in 2009 to Tampa. His favorite class has
been Senior Seminar because it has helped him prepare for college. His favorite
teacher has been Ms. Annie because she is funny, friendly and very helpful. Aaron’s
college plans are to attend Florida State University to major in Meteorology. He wants to be
remembered as being an intelligent and motivated person who is ready for his success

rika Mitchell is a senior at Lee High School. Her favorite memory of her years here at
Upward Bound has been the talent shows, always something new and creative she
says. Her favorite classes have been the encounter groups and tennis class. Her
favorite teacher is Ms Byrns because she teaches us everyday and does not waste any
time. “We work non-stop and I have really learned a great deal”. Erika plans to attend the
University of Florida and major in business. She wants to be remembered as a bright student
who will go far in life.

hawniece Reeder is a senior at Andrew Jackson High School. Her favorite memory of
her years here at Upward Bound has been the lunch/dinner table, her friends and the
crazy conversations. Her favorite class has been Senior Seminar. Its fun and Ms Annie is
awesome to talk to. Her favorite teacher has been Ms Byrns. She has taught her the
most over the years and she loves math (too much). Shawniece’s college plans are to attend the
University of Central Florida, where she plans to major in Biochemistry, then on to medical
school where she will become a doctor.

onika Shack is a senior at Wolfson High School. Her favorite memory of her years
here at Upward Bound has been her first summer with UB and the Miami Trip. Her
favorite class has been her free period and encounter groups. Her favor teacher has
been Ms. Annie – enough said. Monika’s college plans are to attend Florida A&M and
enroll in the college of Architecture.

ason Thach is a senior at Lee High School. His favorite memory of his years here at
Upward Bound have been beginning and spreading OMGPOP like wildfire. His favorite
class has been Senior Seminar because it has been not as difficult as he had thought,
and Ms Annie is fun. His favorite teacher has been Ms. Annie because she is a fun
teacher “ms annie, ms annie”. He plans on attending college, but does not know yet what he
will major in.

hris Thompson is a senior at Ribault High School. His favorite memory of his years here
at Upward Bound was his first year when everyone went on field trips. His favorite
class has been Senior Seminar, because Ms. Annie helps us get things done. His favorite
teacher is Ms. Davis-Waters because she is like a mom to me. “I needed that bond to
keep me on track and to talk to someone when something was wrong”. Chris plans to attend
college an study to become a Veterinary Assistant and then become a Veterinarian.

aige Williams is a senior at Orange Park High. Her favorite memory of her years here at
Upward Bound was of the first UB Olympics she attended at FCCJ and when she went
to Adventure Landing. Her favorite class is Senior Seminar, because she has learned a
lot about the college process and has found help with her financial aid. Paige’s favorite
teacher is Ms. Annie because she connects with me in ways the other teachers do not
understand “she speaks my language”. Her college plans are to attend the University of North
Florida or Florida A&M and receive her degree in Nursing. Paige wants to be remembered at
Upward Bound as a hard-working student who was helpful, respectful and responsible.

ammie Williams is a senior at Lee High School. His favorite memory of his years here at
Upward Bound is his first year because of the activities, like bowling, and meeting the
new people. His favorite class has been computers and his favorite teacher is Ms.
Cameron, because she treats him like one of her own children. Sammie’s college plans
are to major in engineering and play basketball or football. Sammie wants to leave UB with
people remembering him as a student who kept everyone smiling.

Sarai plans to attend the University of Central Florida and plans to major in Forensic Psychology.
