Cheese’s, Noodles & Company, Max & Ermas and Arby’s If you are chosen as an outstanding Match of the Month, you can choose from the following: 1 small pizza, 2 medium soft drinks December 2006 January 2007 Big’s Name: Scott Denny Little’s Name: Raymond Matched since January 2006 Big’s Name: Marci Johnson Little’s Name: Renee Matched since December 2005 What are your favorite activities to do togther? Renee is a talented artist, so we always have fun painting on canvas or going to the pottery studio in DePere. We’ve enjoyed the rides and visiting the animals at Bay Beach, baking biscuits for her dogs, going out to dinner, and finding other fun things to do around town. Tell us about a fun time that you have had together. With free tickets from BBBS, we were able to see a concert at the Resch Center. It was the first time Renee had been to a big concert. (We look forward to seeing another. What I enjoy most about our time together is usually the drive to where we’re going. Renee is very fun to be with, and I enjoy hearing about her interests and school. Tell us about the photo you included. The pictures are from a visit to the W i l d l i f e Sanctuary, including a photo of Renee with one of her favorite animals: a wolf. 2 What are your f a v o r i t e activities to do together? Raymond is very open to do just about anything. I really like that. Sometimes we just hang out, drive around, talk, and chill. Here are some of the fun things we have done and enjoy to do: • Circus - where Raymond rode an Elephant • Green Bay Gamblers games • Green Bay Blizzard games (Raymond's favorite) • Bucks Game • Taking my dog Lobo for walks at the dog park (we used to take my dog Tundra but he was put to sleep this past summer) • Going to Pamperin Park and Brown County Park looking for crayfish • XBOX Video Games • Watching the Star Wars series • Spending time at Barnes & Noble looking for books to read Tell us about a fun time you have had together. Probably the biggest laugh we ever had, and I mean we laughed, and laughed, is when I gave Raymond a picture of my crazy pig face. First he was like...WHAT!...then he busted out laughing. Then I busted out laughing. We laughed so hard and continuously that our sides hurt and I started to wheez. I had to take a puff from my inhaler but I could not stop laughing. We finally got a grip and headed to the car . When we got in the car, Raymond looked at the picture again and we busted out all over again. I had to stop the car, we were laughing so hard. By far this was the biggest laugh we ever had. It was just so stinkin funny. Bowl for Kids’s Sake It’s time to dust off that old bowling ball and mark your calendars, for a fun afternoon of bowling for a good cause. It’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake on January 27, 2007. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ signature fundraising event. It is a great way to help kids right here in your community and to have fun at the same time. The score doesn’t matter, just have fun and help kids! Getting involved is really easy. Register your team of five online or call Big Brothers Big Sisters at 4982227. Families Needed Habitat for Humanity! The local Habitat for Humanity chapter is looking for families in need of affordable housing. Houses are sold to those in need, at no profit with no interest charged. Volunteer labor is used to build houses. Qualifications: Habitat has three main selection criteria: need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner . Taste of the Town On November 3rd, Big Brothers Big Sister hosted its 14th annual Taste of the Town. With over 500 people in attendance, the event raised over $55,000. So what really happens at this tasty event? There are 16 booths of scrumptious foods prepared by caterers in the area.. The booths were decorated in themes by Celebrity Chefs (well known members of the community) who also served our guests. Guests visit each booth as many times as they wish and then vote on the ―People’s Choice Award‖ for their favorite. This year’s winner was served by chefs Murphy in the Morning (WIXX) and his wife Laura. The caterer was Biebel’s Catering and the tasty recipe was Shrimp Stuffed Mushrooms. The Chef Showdown, sponsored by Associated Bank, featured chefs from Big Tomatoes and Marco’s Seafood Club. The mystery ingredient was ostrich. Big Tomatoes was chosen as the Chef Showdown winner by ten Associated Bank guest who served as judges. Our celebrity judges voted on the best entrée, dessert, appetizer, soup/salad/side and the best decorated booth. The winners are as follows: Best Entrée – Autumn Risotto with Confit Duck (Prepared by Big Tomatoes and served by Russ and Mary Kuzel). I started November 16th as the Special Events Coordinator. I help organize and plan Bowl for Kids Sake, Golf for Kids Sake and Taste of the Town, three very fun and exciting fundraisers which allow Big Brothers Big Sisters to grow the number of matches. I grew up in Jackson, WI and attended West Bend West High School. I then attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where I graduated in May 2004 with a double major and double minor. My majors were Sociology and Natural Science and my minors were Social Work and Earth Science. At UWSP I had two internships: First I interned with The Boys & Girls Club of Wisconsin Rapids working for two after school programs and second I worked with a school social worker at Washington Elementary School. Before working for Big Brothers Big Sisters I worked for Family Video as a Store Manager and The Picture People as an Assistant Manager. Things I like to do to have fun are: fishing, softball, watching the Brewers, hanging out with friends and family, and watching movies. My email address is laurieb@bbbsnew.org . I look forward to getting to know everyone in the next coming weeks. _________________________________________ Need a haircut for the holiday season?
