Correction
In last month’s issue, we incorrectly
identified the defender guarding
Salem’s David Sweeney in a 1980s
picture as Northside’s Jimmy Allen.
Longtime reader Paul Ragland, Jr.
pointed out that it is not Allen, but
rather his teammate Neil Burke.
Congressional
Candidate
Eddie Joyce, Jr. Dies
The former Andrew Lewis High
School quarterback passed
away Jan. 15 in North Carolina
from complications caused by
pneumonia. Pictured as a freshman basketball player in 1970
(above) and at a 1997 football
reunion (left), Joyce died three
months after his father, Eddie,
Sr., the famous Lewis football
coach.
Former Patrick Henry
basketball and tennis
great Martin Skelly
(left) recently announced he is running for Congress in
Charleston, S.C. Skelly,
class of ’85, was inducted into the
PH Hall of Fame
