Following structure is determined: D:\EDaS D:\EDaS\Datasets D:\EDaS\User manuals D:\EDaS\Forms D:\Project Abt D:\Project Abt\2.02 • In the EDaS folder you will find the current EDC / MED 17 software. • Furthermore, there are the file folders "Datasets", in which you save the serial readout, the file folders "User manuals" and "Forms". Here the corresponding documents are backed-up. • In the file folder "Project Abt\2.02" the drivers for the EDX and the OBD software are stored. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 6 User Manual ESD workstation • Today, in the electronics, devices and integrated circuits with field effect transistors are used to an increasing degree. Those as well as related systems enjoy increasing popularity due to technical advantages. However, these devices do not only have advantages when it comes to manufacturing or repairing because voltage sources are not much attenuated due to the high input resistance. Electrical voltages over approximately 100 volts which can result from electrostatic charging or from interferences from the main power supply can damage or even penetrate the depletion layer and can lead to a total failure of the component. To avoid failures of such or similar components during opening, reading or writing, strictly obey the ESD precautions (Susceptibility to Electrostatic Discharges) and use appropriate devices. (Are already provided by us). For this reason, we offer a complementary ESD workstation. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 7 User Manual ESD workstation It includes: • a floor mat • a table mat • a wristband • a connecting cable • as well as a connection to the net (grounding). 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 8 User Manual Opening of the electronic control unit • Remove the electronic control unit to modify from the vehicle according to the repair guide. • After having done this, the device must be opened as shown in the following steps: 1. Lay the electronic control unit onto a hard underlay and unscrew the six given screws by means of an appropriate screwdriver or a cordless screwdriver. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 9 User Manual Opening of the electronic control unit 3 • 2. SEITE 34 User Manual Connection of the electronic control unit • The electronic control units must be connected in a very specific order; if you do not adhere to this order, damage can occur in the electronic control unit. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to pay attention to the order! 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 35 User Manual Connection of the electronic control unit • Connect the electronic control unit to the intended plug • Insert the electronic control unit into the programming adapter 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 36 User Manual Connection of the electronic control unit • Depending on the electronic control unit type, put the needle onto the intended pin. The respective types with the appropriate pins you will find in "Electronic control unit types" and "Software choice". • Switch on the laboratory power supply. The voltage must be between 12 and 13.5 volts. As the starting current of the electronic control units is very high you have to use a large laboratory power supply (10 A). Please check this before every programming 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 37 User Manual Connection of the electronic control unit • When the needle adapter is on the right programming pad and the correct voltage is adjusted in the power supply unit, please connect the programming adapter to the power supply unit. • The electronic control unit is now supplied with voltage. • Now connect your programming tool to the USB cable and to the intended electrical power supply. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 38 User Manual Connection of the electronic control unit • Now the data line between ECU and programming tool can be connected. • Start your Cflash software on the desktop 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 39 User Manual Reading and writing of datasets • Choose your electronic control unit type in the software under "ECU type". The types you will find under: "Electronic control unit types" and "Software choice" 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 40 User Manual Reading and writing of datasets • Under menu item "Readout - Read Î File" you can readout the serial dataset. • Like in OBD, this serial dataset is to be named with the chassis number, the electronic control unit number and the software version and must be stored in the file folder D:\EDaS\Datasets. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 41 User Manual Reading and writing of datasets • After the dataset has been successfully read out you have to order the tuning dataset in the dealer portal. • www.abt-sportsline.de 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 42 User Manual Reading and writing of datasets • After having received or successfully downloaded the tuning dataset from the internet, please save it in the file folder D:\EDaS\Datasets. • Now you are able to write the tuning dataset into the electronic control unit by using the item "Programming Programming of the engine map range". 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 43 User Manual Closing of the electronic control unit • After the programming, the electronic control unit must be sealed water tight and a seal sticker must be attached. The sealing compound can be ordered at Abt Sportsline. • Part No.: EDA900024 • The serial number of the seal sticker you will find in the order (order number). The seal stickers can be ordered at Abt Sportsline, too • The order form is available for download in the dealer portal. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 44 User Manual Miscellaneous • Notes for how to use the hardware • - Pay attention to the correct connection of each individual system component. • - The device should never be left switched on over night. • - The system should not be exposed to undue electrical, magnetic, thermal and mechanical strain. • - The device should only be used at a temperature of 20°C (room temperature). • - Pay attention to the cleanliness of the parts • - When not in use, always store the whole tool in the intended packing. 2008, Christian Dietz, SEITE 45 User Manual Support Working hours Abt Sportsline GmbH: Monday to Friday 800 – 1730 Please also mind Bavarian holidays!!!
