(usability) • Usually more things to worry about, and more mastery needed, for/from the “architects” • By these measures, rendering technology is … ? Are We Progressing? • Usability is still bad (but some software do save the day to an extent) • Technology wise, difficult to assess. Huge Operational Bias. Why ? • Some might say we are regressing ! Like Teenagers • Rendering software is in it’s teenage years • Teenage years: doing a random quantity of “cool” things that in retrospect are ridiculous • Lack of maturity and lack of *craftsmanship* Technical Controls • Q: How many technical controls does a renderer needs ? (A: One) • Number of technical controls = surprisingly good measure of cluelessness • What happened to “Any technology sufficiently advanced is …” (Isaac Asimov) ?
