Summer renovation projects—Many projects were completed over the summer by our volunteer maintenance committee, headed by Stan Muir and also by our summer student. Some of the projects included: Building the St. Vincent de Paul storage room; painting of bathrooms; repairs and painting in parish centre and church; new floor in room 3 of the parish centre; new steps to the parish office; and many small repair jobs throughout. Thank you to Stan and his volunteers for continuing to keep our church in great repair. Also completed a few new windows in the rectory and a new door into the parish office. Thank you to the parishioners for providing the funds through our renovation collection. Saint Teresa of Calcutta: On Sunday, October 16, at 5 pm at St. Michael’s Basilica, I cordially invite you to a special Mass of Thanksgiving to thank God for the honour bestowed upon Teresa of Calcutta in declaring her a Saint. Confirmation fee is $30/candidate. Workbooks for K-8 are $20/each. Each year we welcome back our returning Catechists but always need a few replacements. We are in need of a few catechists in order to offer the program to all the youth. High school students are welcome to teach on Sunday morning. Men and women are needed for the higher grades. All training and resources are provided. Please consider helping in this Ministry. It would be so helpful to have all the Catechists in place by the end of September. If interested please call 778-5153. Registration will be held on Saturday, October 1 & Sunday, October 2 following each Mass. It will be held in the Parish Centre. Parents of Confirmation Candidates are asked to attend the session on October 16. Important information will be shared at this time. Youth Choir practices are on Tuesday from 3:154pm. All children welcome from grades 1 to 6. Youth in the Miramichi region in grades 8 to 12 are invited to attend LOCK-IN 2016 !. The activity based event begins on Friday, October 14 at 7:00 pm and ends Saturday, October 15 at 9:00 am. It will be held in the Parish Centre of St. Michael’s Basilica. The event is free but to help with planning pre-registration is needed. Volunteers Needed Big Brothers Big Sisters has 30 children waiting for an In-School Mentor. If you have one hour a week – one day a week – you can make a difference for a child!
