Hadrian`s Wall - Global Adventure Challenges
UK
Hadrian’s Wall
The English Heritage fundraising challenge returns with the Hadrian’s Wall Hike! Sign up today to
walk 30 miles of ‘the best of the wall’ from Lanercost Priory to Chester’s Roman Fort, stopping at
famed English Heritage sites – such as Birdoswald Roman Fort – en route. The hike, sponsored
by Craghoppers, will give participants special access to the expert English Heritage team. See
first hand the importance of the wall as the final frontier of the Roman Empire, whilst raising
money to support the future conservation of the English Heritage sites along it.
Hadrian’s Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and as such we take our responsibility to help
ensure its future for the enjoyment of generations to come seriously. Unlike other events of this
nature, we are proud to offer a sustainable challenge that actively avoids those parts of the wall
where its delicate ecosystem is most susceptible to damage. Sign up today and help secure the
future of Hadrian’s Wall.

Our trail is a demanding one, as our route gradually ascends
as the day progresses. It’s well worth the effort for the
spectacular views across Northumberland National Park, and
some of the most beautiful and visible sections of the wall.
After a long day’s hiking, we walk into our campsite to be
greeted by a hot dinner and a well earned rest. We continue
striding along some of the most beautiful and visible sections
of the wall and we finally trek straight into our campsite for a
well sough after dinner and overnight.
Trekking distance – approx. 15 miles
Day 3
Camp to Chester Roman Fort and
Museum
After breakfast, we walk straight from our tents back to the
Wall where we continue trekking eastwards. Before long, we
trek across the Northumberland
highlands which overlook spectacular cliff tops and stunning
countryside.
Negotiating several lakes and crags en route adds even more
adventure to our challenge. Housesteads Roman Fort is the
first site we encounter. There will be a chance to re-fuel for
the hungry hikers amongst you.
After 15 miles of undulating terrain, we reach the finish line at
Chester’s Roman Fort and Museum, where the group will be
met with celebratory drinks and exclusive access to the
museum itself.
A transfer will return the group to the campsite, where a
celebratory Roman feast, (complete with an expert talk about
Hadrian’s Wall from the English Heritage Curatorial team) will
be prepared to celebrate the end of the challenge!
Trekking distance – approx. 15 miles
Day 4
After breakfast at camp, the group departs the site after an unforgettable experience hiking Hadrian’s
Wall.
