mps PILOT | Biography
mps PILOT is a DJ/producer based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He is a fanatic traveller,
musically trained and has a background in ethnomusicology. The reason for his DJ repertoire
to vary inbetween the best worldwide future music productions and traditional musics.
In our digitised, globalised culture, musical boundaries are blurring, creating new hybrid
genres. Like no other, mps PILOT has his finger on the pulse of new and upcoming global
electronic styles such as Tropical Bass, Balkan, Nu-Cumbia, Asian, Oriental, Afrolectro, and
Kuduro. mps PILOT's mixed style DJ sets take in all of these genres and more. If you’d like to
hear him focusing on one specific style, check out some sample DJ sets devoted to
AfroLectro, Balkan or Asian-Oriental. mps PILOT is always chasing local released quality
productions, original beats, unreleased remixes and exclusive tracks.
mps PILOT grabs audiences with his inspired selection, Dutch style seamless mixing and deep
knowledge. No pre-planned sets for him: once the beats begin, his well-honed intuitive skills
kick in. Lost in the music and immersed in the flow of the moment, he senses the crowd, draws
them in and becomes one with his work. His rock solid sets are packed with the wickedest of
tunes – he’s having fun and he makes sure the crowd does too. That’s why he’s invited to
appear at a festival he’s often booked to play not just once but several times - as he has done
at celebrated worldwide renowned festivals such as Lowlands, Amsterdam Roots, Sfinks,
Mundial, Festival in the Desert, Amsterdam Dance event, Timitar, and North Sea Jazz. And
still, for him there is also nothing like his guerilla gigs as on the street of Timbuktu, in a squated
factory in Amsterdam or before a streetcrowd in India. Here he gets inspired.
As half of StreamerPilot mps PILOT produced remixes for artists such as Zuco 103, Novalima,
Boban Markovic, Burhan Oçal and The Trakya All Stars, Locos Por Juana, Tigerstyle, Ot Azoj
Klezmer Band, Nidi D'arac and Merlin Shepherd. Travelling widely and often, mps PILOT
collaborated with artists in Bamako, Timbuktu, Jaipur, Cairo, Istanbul and with many
international artists based in Amsterdam. Percussionists, dancers and musicians such as
Super 11 (ML), Mali Mussow (ML), The Akatay Brothers (TR), Mazaher (Egypt) Job Chajes
(Amsterdam Klezmer Band/NL) Sjahin During (Arifa/NL), Alper Kekeç (TR), tribal fusion dancer
Tjarda (NL). Bobby Petrov (BG), Rimbaax (SN), Praful (DE), and Afra Mussasiwade (IR).
Being a total fanatic of desert music mps PILOT travelled many times to the Festival in The
Desert and finally teamed up with a band called Super 11. They exist since 30 years and are
the uncrowned masters of takamba music in West Africa. Together with mps PILOT they
formed the project Future Takamba. Accompagnied by VJ Lotte de Man they performed in The
Netherlands, Belgium and Mali serving a futuristic takamba sensation.

2) 1 Pioneer DJM 800 mixing desk
3) 2 onstage monitors placed left & right of the table with booth monitor send from DJ mixer
4) a table with a minimum space of 140cm x 80cm and between 115cm to 130cm high.
5) one extra electrical outlet located directly under the table.
6) set up and sound check time is 20 minutes.
