dining experience
The Spice Lounge offers a stimulating range of Bangladeshi and Southern Asian
dishes with a creative twist to appeal to the western palate. Our Menu has
been influenced by thousands of years of Asian culture and has been carefully
prepared to present an interesting and exciting representation of one of the
world’s most popular cuisines.
Our mission is to provide high quality food and impeccable service in a
friendly relaxed atmosphere.
Particular attention has been given to the interior décor of our restaurant
which has been designed to create an ambient setting, and one which
complements the subtleties of the cuisine.
The Spice Lounge management team has over a decade of experience in
running successful restaurants in Derbyshire and the West Midlands. Our chefs
learnt their skills in their native Bangladesh and have since worked in some of
the UK’s leading Bangladeshi restaurants.
All our fresh ingredients are sourced locally which we combine with authentic
and exotic spices from around the world
Our Wine List at the back of this Menu presents an extensive range of top
quality wines. We will be happy to recommend several wines that have been
specifically tasted and professionally selected to complement the cuisine.

Starters
KING PRAWN PURI £7.95 (NEW)
We start by pan frying finest jumbo prawns with chopped onions before adding them to a blend
of garlic, turmeric, mustard seeds and tomato puree. We then serve this with a chapatti bread.
KORAI KEBAB £6.50 (NEW)
Our special twist on the ever popular sheek kebab.Tender lamb stir fried with diced peppers,
onions, coriander and a few fresh green chilies. A hot and spicy starter.
PRAWN COCKTAIL £4.95 (NEW)
A Southern Asian version of this traditional favourite. Succulent peeled prawns served on a bed
of crisp green salad and topped with our special rose marie seafood sauce. Refreshingly different.
NAVRANG TIKKA £5.75 (NEW)
Flavoursome chicken tikka and fresh mushrooms combined with the chef’s special mix of spices.
These include curry leaves, fresh mint and our chef’s special ingredient
which give this starter its unique aromatic flavour.
STUFFED PEPPER £6.95 (NEW)
A whole green pepper, deseeded and barbecued, then stuffed with lightly spiced minced lamb
and topped with Cheddar cheese.
TANDOORI LAMB CHOPS £6.95
Succulent lamb cutlets marinated in tandoori spices and then cooked to perfection in the tandoor oven.
Served on a traditional Bangladeshi red pepper and onion sauce.
ONION BHAJI £4.95 (V)
A traditional starter of sliced onions, potatoes and poppy seeds, spiced and then deep fried
to produce a light crispy coating. A firm favourite!
TANDOORI PLATTER £6.50
Tender chicken, lean lamb pieces and sheek kebab, marinated and then cooked to order over
the coals in our tandoori oven.
VEGETABLE PLATTER £5.75 (V)
A tasty selection of vegetable appetisers including crispy samosa, stuffed mushroom,
onion bhaji and aloo tiki.The classic starter.
PANEER RELISH £5.25 (V)
Strips of paneer [Indian cheese] stir fried with fresh green chillies, spring onions
and peppers then served in a hot relish sauce. A traditional Eastern favourite.
MACHLI BIRAN £6.95
A selection of fresh salmon and chunky cod fillets marinated in delicate tandoori spices to
complement the fish and slowly cooked in our tandoori oven. A must for fish lovers!
CHICKEN TIKKA CHAAT £5.75
Marinated chicken tikka tossed into the pan with onions, tomatoes and cucumber
and stir fried with exotic chaat spices. Served on crispy, fried chapati bread.
SPICE LOUNGE SPECIAL £6.50
A tempting combination of marinated chicken tikka, lamb tikka and tandoori chicken pieces cooked
with onions and fresh red peppers. Stir-fried with hot spices. A personal favourite of our chef.

Lovers of hot and spicy food will be sure to relish this flavoursome dish.
The liberal use of fresh Bangladeshi chillies gives this dish an extra bite.
METHI [Chicken or lamb] £11.95 (NEW)
A classic recipe using fenugreek leaves which are the prime ingredient in methi dishes.
Garlic, ginger, garam masala and fresh tomatoes are also combined to create its unique piquant sauce.
Perhaps the most popular of Punjabi dishes.
ACHARI [Chicken or lamb] £11.95 (NEW)
Achari translates as pickling spices which are added to this very popular North Indian dish.The recipe
includes pickled mango, cumin, turmeric, coriander and chilli. A medium dish to delight the palate.
KISSAN [Chicken or lamb] £11.95 (NEW)
Tasty barbequed chicken or lamb tikka is added to a marinade of almond powder, pistachio nuts, cumin,
ginger, coriander, mint and yoghurt. A rich, creamy medium dish full of flavour.
MURUG ANARKALI £11.95 (NEW)
Lean pieces of chicken breast cooked in the clay oven with onions, peppers
and tomatoes and served in a delicious, medium strength bhuna sauce.
CHICKEN TIKKA MOSSOMON £11.95 (NEW)
A chicken tikka dish with a subtle difference.We slowly cook the chicken tikka in a medium strength sauce
and then finished with a masala flavoured topping. A great combination of flavours to tease the taste buds.
CURRIED COD LOIN £15.95
The cod is marinated in our own special blend of aromatic spices and then gently pan roasted to perfection.
We then add citrus juices and cumin oil before serving with tarka dal and sagg.
DELUXE MIX GRILL £16.95
An assortment of delicacies cooked in the tandoor. A flavourful feast of Tandoori chicken, sheek kabab, chicken
tikka, lamb tikka and tandoori king prawns. Served with a choice of bread and vegetable curry sauce.
VEGETABLE STIR FRY £11.95 (V)
A selection of mixed vegetables stir fried with peppers and onions. Our chef then adds his own special sweet
chilli sauce to give this healthy dish a spicy twist.
TARKA CHICKEN £11.95
Tasty chicken tikka thinly sliced and stir fried with fresh peppers, spring onions, baby corn and
baby carrots, then layered with a piquant garlic tarka sauce. An immensely popular dish.
GARLIC CHILLI CHICKEN BAHAR £11.95
A seriously hot dish for the connoisseurs of traditional Bangladeshi curries. It features a
potent fusion of fresh garlic, green chillies and exotic eastern spices.
A wonderful experience but not for the faint hearted!
BUTTER CHICKEN £11.95
Seasoned, barbecued spring chicken cooked with warm spices and ground nuts
in a creamy butter sauce. A firm favourite with the mild mannered.
PALAK BAHAR [Chicken or lamb] £11.95
Spring chicken or tender lamb chunks cooked with a tantalising combination
of fresh spinach, bay leaf and cinnamon. A true connoisseur’s dish.
JALPATI [Chicken or lamb] £11.95
We take fresh spring chicken or lean lamb tikka pieces and cook them in a combination of spicy
jalfrezi and pathia sauces along with a good handful of green chillies and red peppers.
A great choice for fans of the hot and spicy.
CORIANDER CEYLONI [Chicken or lamb] £11.95
Pieces of tender chicken, or lamb if preferred, cooked with a special blend of fresh coriander and
our Chef’s special relish sauce together with a slight infusion of garlic and ginger.
A delicious medium strength dish.
TENGA CHICKEN £11.95
Fresh chicken fillets lightly seasoned with spices and shallow fried on an Indian tava.
Then, slowly simmered with onions and peppers in a special tamarind chutney sauce.
A medium spicy dish packed full of flavour.
LAL MACHER JUL £14.95
A fillet of fresh salmon delicately seasoned then cooked with mustard seeds, fresh curry leaves and
light spices. A subtle preparation to ensure that the exquisite flavour of the fish is retained.

SHASHLIK [Chicken or lamb] £12.95
Lightly seasoned spring chicken or fresh lamb, barbecued on the coals of our tandoori oven, and
served with roasted onions, peppers, mushrooms and paneer Indian cheese.
Then served with a tasty, spicy sauce on the side.The barbecue flavours and piquant sauce
combine to great effect in this delicious, low calorie dish.
KING PRAWN SHASHLIK £14.95
Large, juicy Mediterranean ocean prawns finely seasoned and barbecued to perfection.
A seafood sensation served with roasted onions, peppers mushrooms and paneer Indian cheese.
All our house specialties are individually prepared to order and require some additional preparation time. But the little extra wait
will be well worth while. Please note that some of our dishes contain nuts so please ask your waiter if you need more information.
