Musher Camp Dog Sled Trek Stay in a heated cabin on base, and take the dogs out for half-day and day-long runs. Take ownership of a team of dogs and learn to feed, house, harness and otherwise care for them. Head out into the wilderness with the dog teams and camp with the dogs out on the ice. Session 1: January 3-6, 2016 Session 1: January 22-25, 2016 Session 2: January 29-February 1, 2016 Cost: $475 per participant (an airport shuttle is available for an additional $120) OKPIK Sampler Learn the basics of winter camping. Crews will pack their gear onto sleds (or "pulks") and head out into the wilderness, spending their nights camping on the snow and ice. Scouts will learn how to set up a winter campsite, how to build snow shelters and how to cook meals at low temperatures. In addition, they will get to try out a full array of winter activities. Session 1: December 29, 2015 -January 3, 2016 (5 nights) Cost: $440 per participant (an airport shuttle is available for an additional $120) Session 2: January 22-25, 2016 (3 nights) Cost: $270 per participant (an airport shuttle is available for an additional $120) Cost: $475 per participant (an airport shuttle is available for an additional $120) Okpik Individual Programs Registration Form The Individual program allows Boy Scouts and Venturers to attend Northern Tier as part of a provisional crew. Offered out of the Charles L. Sommers Wilderness Canoe Base near Ely MN, there are 4 programs to choose from. All participants must be at least age 14 or age 13 and currently in 8th grade at the time of their trip. Be cautious of making reservations or paying fees for those who have not made a financial commitment. Northern Tier High Adventure Programs must commit financial resources to employ staff, purchase food and supplies, and prepare for base operations. Participants are, therefore, also required to make a financial commitment to attend. Be conservative in making reservations to avoid losing fees due to cancellations.
