Thanks to All of The Sponsors of the Pigg River Ramble Weekend ___________________________________________________________ 9th Annual Pigg River Ramble Weekend May 14-16th The Weekend Presented by: Blackwater Blackout– May 14, 2010 Pigg River Ramble– May 15, 2010 Breakfast on The Blackwater– May 16, 2010 STEVE WRIGHT BRAD BROWN LEON INGRAM KENNY BETTERTON SCOTT LYNCH Visit us on the web at: www.historicrockymount.com or www.franklincountyva.org Organized by The Community Partnership for Revitalization and Franklin County Description of Events Friday, May 14 RULES The 5th Annual Blackwater Blackout RACERS will be timed launched at staggered start times. 5 PM - 7:00PM 7 PM - 9:00PM 11 PM Registration - Music & Food Blackwater Blackout Last shuttle Boats will be rigged with all sorts of light fixtures, flash lights and glow sticks as they navigate down the Blackwater River (no electrical systems allowed). Proceeds from this float help build Antioch Community Park. (3 Mile Float) The first 300 registered will receive a t-shirt. Saturday, May 15 The 9th Annual Pigg River Ramble FLOATERS will mass start and will NOT be timed. NO INFLATABLES, PLEASE! Winners will be based on overall finish time. Observe all water safety rules and have appropriate flotation devices (pfds) at all times. Participants under the age 14 must be accompanied by an adult. (Adults can accompany kids in different water-craft.) Littering on the river is prohibited. 7 AM - 9:15 AM 10:00 AM 10:30 AM 11:20 AM 2-6:00 PM Registration Mandatory Safety Briefing Ramble Racers begin Floaters start after Racers Barbeque, Awards and Post Race Festivities at Waid Park *Last shuttle service will be at 5 pm. Welcome all returning racers/floaters and newcomers! Come join us for the main event and enjoy a great day of paddling and barbeque! (8 Mile Float) Water, breakfast items and snack packs will be available for purchase. Sunday, May 16 Breakfast on the Blackwater 9 AM 10:00 AM Noon Check-In (No Sunday Registration) Float Begins Final Shuttle Run Finishing the weekend with a great riverside breakfast and a leisurely float down the Blackwater River completes the package. Breakfast will be served ~45 min. into the float! (3 Mile Float) Entry fees are non-refundable. Rakes Road Bridge will be an official optional and/or emergency pull-out location for the Pigg River Ramble. There will be an official sweeper in all events. If you are injured or need medical attention please alert other participants or call 911. If lightning occurs, please exit the river immediately, crouch and wait out the storm. The organizers of the Blackwater Blackout, Pigg River Ramble, and the Breakfast on the Blackwater reserve the right to cancel any/or all events based on unsafe conditions due to extreme weather conditions. Thank Medical Assistance Swift Water Rescue will provide medical assistance on the rivers for each event during the Pigg River Ramble Weekend. Please dial “911” on your cell phone for assistance in case of an emergency. Canoe Rentals We cannot guarantee availability of rental canoes or kayaks ; please bring your own boat.
