O
from the
supervisor
ne of the questions I have been asked the most regarding my position is,
“How do you like it?” I have to answer honestly - it has it’s moments - but I
certainly enjoy being a central part of the Town government.
I look back at the last year and know there is more to still accomplish. I will continue to
research these areas as each presents itself. I’ve also come to realize that no matter how
much I believe or do not believe in something there will always be someone who isn’t
happy with my or the Town Board’s decision. I accept that. In the end I have to keep perspective regarding what the benefit to the Town is as a whole with each decision we make.

I have met with the store manager for Tops Friendly Markets and they recently conducted
job interviews in the Town meeting room this April. A mid-May grand opening has been
scheduled for their brand new Walworth location.
Mark’s Pizzeria has reopened in their renovated location in the Walworth Hamlet. I am
hearing wonderful comments and wish them continued success in Walworth. Mark’s has
been a great supporter of the activities in the Town and we appreciate that immensely.
Our ice rink was a “hit” and I have heard that many residents are extremely happy to have
this opportunity in our community. A couple of area Towns visited the rink this winter
for ideas. I know many of our hockey players would like to utilize the rink and the Recreation Department will be looking for ways to accommodate a variety of uses at the rink.
TOWN SUPERVISOR
With Spring approaching the Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for the 2015
Farmers’ Market. We have a new entrance sign for the market thanks to Dan Courteau
who constructed the sign as part of his Eagle project. Thank you and congratulations on
your achievement!
WALWORTH TOWN BOARD
COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
Park fields will soon be prepared for another wonderful season of activities. Our Lodge
has many events secheduled for the wedding and graduation season. I look forward to
seeing and hearing how our residents and visitors enjoyed what we have to offer.
The Town has been looking at alternative energy and improved energy efficiency to control
costs. The Town installed a small solar array to power the shelter in Sherburne Park and
has participated with Wayne Finger-Lakes BOCES in their energy bid for both natural gas
and electricity. We have participated in scheduled demand outages, utilized our generators
during specified periods of time when we are paid not to use energy, and investigated the
construction of a solar array which would give us credits on our RG&E utility bills. The
solar array plans are currently being prepared at this time. To keep up to date with this
process or with what’s going on at any board meetings (Town Board, Planning Board, or
Zoning Board), please reference each board’s meeting minutes on the town website.

from the
town clerk
his January town residents received a mailing with notification the Town is conducting a Dog Enumeration (census). As required by Article 7 of the NYS Agriculture and Walworth Local Law Chapter 56: Any dog(s) 4 months or older
must be licensed in the municipality (town) in which they are sheltered in.
If you currently own a licensed dog(s) there is no need to do anything. If you have a
dog(s) that is not licensed or the license has expired please contact the Town Clerk’s Office. Licensing can be done in person, by phone, or by mail with payment in the form
of cash, check, or credit card. Failure to respond to the Dog Enumeration could result
in a court appearance ticket and possibly a fine.

TOWN TOPICS SUMMER 2015
Mid-June marks the return of the Ginegaw Park Farmers’
Market. As we enter our third season we continue to grow in
both the number of vendors and rotating vendors we will offer
week-to-week and in the scope of what we aim to accomplish at
the market this year and years to come. At the mid-way point
of the Town Topics you’ll find a special market pull-out. Keep
this handy reference of the special events we have scheduled for
this season. Along with some past favorites the market is featuring a Strawberry Social, Sweet Corn Festival, Pumpkin Festival,
Trunk Sale, the return of wood-fired pizza from Big Papa’s,
and a bevy of chicken barbeques. We’ve also added some new
rotating vendors as Smoothies Plus, Gregorio’s Fresh Cheeses,
and KP’s Kettle Corn join the fold. The market has become the
heartbeat of the community on Tuesday afternoon’s. We look
forward to continuing to grow the ties between the market and
the community this Third Season and in the seasons to follow.
This June Walworth Recreation will be participating in the Relay For Life event at Richard
Mann Elementary School in Gananda. The
event takes place on Friday, June 5th. Walworth Recreation will be putting a team of
walkers together to support the event and honor those who’ve
been touched by cancer. We hope you’ll join us! Look for
more information about our team and the event in the weeks to
come. We will have a special section on our page on the town
website with details.
The summer soccer season is approaching! We cannot stress
enough the importance of registering early for soccer leagues.
In order to provide shirts for players we must have firm team
numbers a month ahead of our season start dates. If you’re
thinking of playing don’t delay - sign up today! If you might be
interested in coaching or refereeing this summer please contact
the Recreation Department as well. We have so many wonderful and dedicated volunteers who coach but can always use extra
help with teams. For more information about our Summer
Soccer Leagues please see pages 20 & 21 of the Town Topics.

from the
rec department
At the end of this school year we will be losing one of our most important colleagues
in Pat Raidmae. When we took the leap of faith into providing half day activities for
Gananda Elementary Students we did so leaning heavily on Pat. The details and intricacies of running a program that consistently draws 100 plus participants are immense
and without Pat’s help these past three year’s we would never have attained the success
we have had with the program - let alone been able to get it off the ground. We wish Pat
nothing but the best in her retirement and cannot thank her enough for all she’s done
over the years for us!
Our annual outdoor movie in conjunction with the Walworth Lions Club will show on
Saturday, July 25th beginning at 8:45pm in Ginegaw Park during the Lions Club Festival
in the Park. This year we invite families to come out and enjoy Disney’s smash hit comedic adventure Big Hero 6! Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets! The Walworth
Friends of the Park will be selling refreshments at the event to support future programs
and events. Festival fireworks immediately follow the movie.
We look forward to all this summer programming season has to offer. As always please
don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or comments regarding programming and
other events. We continually strive to provide the highest quality programming possible!

a special presentation from walworth recreation & the walworth lions club
saturday, july 25th in ginegaw park
free outdoor family movie (begins at 8:45pm)
From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes
“Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops
between Baymax, a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada.
When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst
of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends: adrenaline junkie GoGo Tomago,
neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the
mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”
