OYC Brochure - Orienta Yacht Club
Welcome
to
Orienta
Yacht Club
Founded in 1907, the Orienta Yacht Club
is one of the oldest and most distinctive
Clubs on Long Island Sound. We are
located in the scenic and well-protected
East Basin of Mamaroneck Harbor, easily
accessible through a well-marked, deep
water channel. Mamaroneck is a gateway
to great fishing, sailboat racing, cruising
and just plain “messing about in boats.”
Our members include both power-boaters
and sailors who welcome the opportunity
to work on their own boats, which is
typically not allowed in commercial
boatyards. Our members serve alongside
skilled professionals in our yard when their
yachts are hauled and launched. We can
refer you to a roster of valued craftspeople
who can handle all the work, too. Plus
there are three full-service boatyards,
fuel and pumpout facilities nearby.
Orienta Yacht Club is a friendly place
distinguished by member participation
in every aspect of Club life—from staffing
work parties, planning social events and
cruises, to taking on major upgrades to
our facilities and equipment.
Facilities
Clubhouse
The center of OYC life is our lovely Clubhouse with
its shaded porch overlooking the scenic east basin
of Mamaroneck Harbor. The Clubhouse includes a
newly renovated kitchen and men’s and women’s
restrooms and showers. It is available for members
to rent on a first come, first served basis.
Other Facilities for Members
Social Events
• Wet and dry winter storage
In addition to post race barbecues, the Orienta Yacht
Club hosts a number of major social events each
year with fine food, drink, music and dancing.
• Dinghy, kayak and sailboard storage racks
• Two work docks with water are available
for use while making repairs
• Lockers for sails and other equipment
Guest Services
• Mast crane and storage shed
We welcome visiting yachts at our guest moorings
and our launch service offers registered guests easy
access to great Village restaurants and a full range of
stores for re-provisioning, all within walking distance
to the club. Showers and restrooms are also available
to guests. In recent years we have welcomed many
travelers transiting the Sound from as far away as
Europe and the Caribbean.
• Gated parking area
Dockage and Moorings
• Workboat for member projects
• Dockage with water and power for 24 boats
(although there is a waiting list).
• Club dinghies
• Most of our fleet is moored in the harbor
on fore and aft moorings. Permits must be
obtained from the Village of Mamaroneck Harbor
Master for a nominal annual fee.
• Guest moorings are offered at nominal
prices for visiting Yachts.
Launch Services
• Orienta Yacht Club runs a convenient launch
service for members and guests during
the months when the club is in commission,
roughly from April through mid-October. Launch
hours vary slightly during the summer months
to accommodate peak demand and the launch
generally runs all day until 8:00 PM.
• Launch hours are posted in the dock house.
Racing
OYC is a member of the Yacht Racing Association
of Long Island Sound and has its own club racing
series and participates in the Thursday night
