LIFE RAFTS
FAA-TSO C70a TYPE II APPROVED
SINGLE TUBE
Non-Transport Series single tube life rafts are intended for crewmember and passenger use aboard aircraft during
over water emergencies. These rafts are comprised of a circular flotation tube compartmentalized into two chambers by vertical bulkheads and a fabric deck which is attached to the tube structure. Neoprene coated nylon fabric
is used throughout each raft design. A combination life line/grasp line assists in boarding.
These life rafts have a lanyard-activated, manually-operated carbon dioxide (CO2) inflation system. A manuallyoperated hand pump, secured to the boarding station handle affords full inflation, or topping off of the flotation
chambers, if required. Each of the two compartmentalized chambers is maintained to equal pressure by individual
pressure relief valves - one in each chamber.
Miscellaneous accessories are contained about the raft perimeter. Appropriate instructions for the use of these
accessories are printed on the tube and deck. A raft instruction manual is tied to the boarding handle on the deck.
Each raft has a canopy which is stowed with survival kit items that are contained in a red or yellow accessory case
attached by a line to a raft life line loop. The canopy contains a door opening with a roll up door cover and a
rainwater collector in the top or roof panel. Canopy rods and a center mast are provided to support the canopy
when it is erected. The canopy, its center mast and supporting rods are encased in a protective bag. Canopy sides
can be raised or lowered as required. In the Non-Transport Series rafts which have Federal Aviation Regulation
(FAR) Part 135 survival equipment, the raft has a radar reflector which is an integral part of the canopy. Life rafts
with survival equipment under FAR part 121 rules do not require, and thus do not have, a radar reflector unless
ordered as special option.

ENVIRONMENTALLY PACKAGED
LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT
Life Support International has developed the technology to environmentally package a wide variety of Life Support
equipment. This unique type of packaging has applications with survival kits, medical kits, life rafts, life preservers, rescue
kits, and parachutes. Materials are packaged in a reduced volume environment free from any form of outside
contamination including moisture and UV damage. If for any reason the internal environment has been tampered with
or compromised, the user is immediately aware of the situation and can replace the damaged unit. Advantages:
• REDUCED BULK
• IMPROVED STORAGE
Environmentally packaged equipment is typically reduced in
bulk by up to 40% of original size.
The environmentally packaged items can be customized to
conform to the contours of the storage compartment.
• REDUCED MAINTENANCE FREQUENCY
• LONG TERM STORAGE
Cost savings are also realized because of reduced maintenance cycles. Typically the maintenance frequency of life
support equipment is semi-annual or more frequent. When
the material is environmentaaly packaged, the recommended
maintenance frequency is lengthened to 5 years or more.
Entire systems or components can be packaged for long
term storage requirements, such as emeregency preparedness items.
• REPLACEMENT COST SAVINGS
Environmentally packaged equipment will last longer as
they are protected from every day wear and tear that life
support equipment is normally subject to.

AXELCUT™
Emergency Hoist Cable Cutter
The AxelCut™ is a light-weight, one-handed, emergency hoist cable cutter. The cutting
blades are made from the highest quality Swedish steel. It is unaffected by EMI, lightning,
or any other possible hoist system failures and is designed for low cost and a long life.
There are no explosive charges or shelf life issues and it can cut the cable repeatedly.
Qualified to +160° F, -40° F, Salt Fog, and Endurance.
Airborne hoist rescues rarely happen on calm seas or nice days. If the hoist cable gets caught in a ship’s rigging,
trees, rocks, railings or worse yet around the rescuer’s neck, the cable needs to be cut quickly. Existing two
handed cable cutters are too slow, ineffective, and not designed for this purpose. The hoist installed cable cutter
will cut the cable inside the hoist, thus ending any chance of continuing the life saving mission. However, with
the AxelCut™ and a QuickSplice™ you can finish the mission. It is unquestionably "the right tool for the job."
The AxelCut™, with its fast, clean, one handed cut allows the use of a quick splice plate; permitting the ballistic
hoist-installed cable cutter to be used as the backup for helicopter emergencies. The AxelCut™ can also save
significant down time if the cable must be cut; because if the ballistic hoist-mounted cable cutter is used, the
hoist system will have to be rebuilt, and the cartridge will have to be replaced.
AxelCut™ Emergency Hoist Cable Cutter
Purpose:
The AxelCut is a manually operated one handed cable
cutter, designed to cut helicopter hoist cable .188
inches or 4.7 mm in diameter maximum. It is designed
to cut the hoist cable and release the load in the event
of entanglement in less than two seconds.
Technical:
The AxelCut is designed to meet the environmental
conditions inherent in a rescue or utility helicopter. It is
made from the corrosion resistant materials, stainless
steel and anodized aluminum. The cutting blades are
made of tool steel and coated with electro-less nickel
plating. The Axelcut will produce a minimum of 200
cuts. The cut is extremely clean and allows the use of
the various types of quick splice plates. The AxelCut is
supplied with two PTFE coated stainless steel mounting
brackets, and a quick release pin.
Size:
74 cm (29 in) long and 21 cm (8.2 in) wide at the hook.
51 cm (2 in) in depth. The opening for the cable is 6 mm
minimum.
Operation:
The AxelCut is controllable via the handle. The operator
reaches out and captures the cable while holding on to the
cable or aircraft with the other hand. Once the cable has
been captured by the AxelCut hook, the operator braces
the butt of the AxelCut against their body and draws the
handle towards them in a quick motion. The handle
actuates the cutting blades with a large mechanical
advantage and cleanly cuts the cable.
Operation recommendation:
The cable should be cut far enough below the hoist to
enable a quick splice to be used. In this way the cartridge
actuated cable cutter on the hoist is used as the emergency
backup.
Life:
The AxelCut has no life limitation.
Maintenance:
One or two drops of clean light oil should be applied to the
cutting blade interface once every 6 months. WD-40 can
be applied to the pulleys and handle shaft after a clean
water rinse as required.
Weight:
2.5 lbs

"The AxelCut is highly recommended to replace the existing 'bolt-cutters'
presently employed as the back-up emergency hoist cutting system"

The AxelCut can be installed in various ways to best fit your aircraft. It is currently in use in Canada, England,
Kuwait, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United States.

HELICOPTER HOIST HOOKS
D-LOK Helicopter Hoist Hook
P/N: RES-0410-G
P/N: RES-0411-G (with Utility Eye)
The D-LOK Hoist Hook has been developed to replace the
double rescue hook, and other current helicopter hoist hooks.
This one incorporates a double lock latch gate design. The latch
gate lock provides the ultimate in security to prevent accidental
opening of the gate. This design allows the gate to be operated
quickly and easily with one hand. It is made of stainless steel for
strength and corrosion resistance. The D-LOK Hoist Hook will
eliminate all of the problems associated with the current double
rescue hook, such as inadvertent engagement, self-release (ring
roll-out), or finger snagging on the small hook. The hook also
exceeds the load test requirement for the double rescue hook.

Quick Splice
Emergency Hook Replacement Kit
P/N: RES-0194-00
The new wedge style Quick Splice with D-LOK Hoist Hook is
designed for in-flight emergency replacement of the helicopter’s
hoist hook. Should the hoist cable become damaged, broken, or
entangled during rescue missions, the rescue crewman can
quickly cut the cable and replace the hook. This allows the
helicopter to complete the mission in lieu of aborting. A thumb
screw is used to secure the wedge against the cable until a
significant load is applied. The unique wedge design ensures
that as the load on the Quick Splice increases so does its grip on
the hoist cable. The Quick Splice is constructed of anodized
aluminum with stainless steel fasteners for strength and corrosion resistance. Each unit is proof load tested to 2,800 lbs. Once
installed, the wedge design provides for full rated breaking
strength of Hoist Hook.
NOTE: The Quick Splice is designed for 3/16", 19 x 7 hoist
cable only.

Distress Marker Light
When it comes to saving lives, anything
less than the best is not an option. Since
