Mayor’s Letter
Dear Friends,
Welcome to summer! I hope your summer is off to a good start. The beginning of
June allows the opportunity to slow down
just a bit and enjoy a break in our busy lives.
The Pelham High School Varsity Baseball Team had a great season with a record
of 36-5, were the Area 10 Champions and
went all the way to the State Play-Offs.
Congratulations to the team, the coaches
and parents. I attended many of the games
Mayor Don Murphy
throughout the year and can see the time
and dedication these young men have put into a sport they love. I look forward to supporting our Panthers in the next season!
The Exceptional Anglers hosted the “Gone Fishin' Not Just Wishin'” Fishing
Rodeo at Oak Mountain State Park. This year’s rodeo included lots of fish and
lots of smiles across the faces of the children. Thank you to our Police and
Fire Departments for their work and support of this fun event.
I would like to extend my thanks to our local businesses and our residents for
their donations and participation in the Philip Mahan Davis Memorial Golf Tournament in May. The tournament hosted 147 players and raised almost $18,000 for
the Foundation. Thank you again for honoring the memory of Ofc. Philip Davis.
These funds will be used to help other fallen first responders in Shelby County.
Oak Mountain State Park and the City of Pelham were home to the 2012
ITU World Championship XTERRA Challenge. Our city hosted visitors from
not only our state but from across the world for the two-day event which
included a Cross Triathlon, Mud Runs and Half/Full Trail Marathons.
I would like to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of the Pelham High School Class of 2012. This is a great time for them as they wrap up

this part of their lives and head off towards their future. I have had the opportunity to meet several of our graduates and I am proud to say they represent
our schools, our city and their families well. I wish each of them the best of
luck as they continue on their life’s journey.
The Linda Nolen Learning Center Class of 2012 Awards Ceremony and Graduation is a pleasure to attend each year. The happiness on each child’s face as
they are recognized for their growth and accomplishments is immeasurable. I
wish each graduate continued success as they continue to learn and grow.
The Library is starting their Summer Reading Program for the children. This
year’s theme is “Dream Big”. It starts with a concert and ends with a carnival.
This program is part of the library’s Smart investing@your library program
sponsored by FINRA and ALA. Head over to the library and get signed up. Our
library offers many programs and classes throughout the summer and along
with books, games and movies our library has something for every person
in the family. Our Library Guild’s pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s
Restaurant was a big success and monies raised goes towards a scholarship
for a Pelham High School student.
This month our city and The Cahaba Valley Elks will celebrate Flag Day on
June 10th, at 3:00 pm at the Pelham Civic Complex. This is a great ceremony
to honor our flag, country and service men. Please come join us for this celebration, it is free to the public. I look forward to seeing you there.
Please remember there will be more children outside enjoying their break.
I encourage you be on the lookout as you are in neighborhoods and by parks.
Please keep our service people in your thoughts and prayers and have a safe
and happy summer!
Kindest regards,

Councilman’s Letter

Letter
Dear Pelham City Residents, Business Owners and School Officials
Pelham High School Teacher Jamie Stephenson has eight students that
qualified to compete at the International level in theater this summer at the
International Thespian Festival. These students have raised $2,000 to pay
their $3,400 to participate in the event. I encourage you to join with me
in mailing a tax deductible donation check payable to the Pelham Library
Guild, PO Box 1627, Pelham Al 35124 and write on the check for Pelham
HS Thespian Festival.
Several Pelham residents and many people from Hoover, Vestavia and
Mountain Brook have contacted me about the Civic Center Ice Operations.
Historically, the Civic Center has operated at a significant yearly loss. Mayor Murphy has been successful in reducing losses, but unless changes are
made, the Civic Center will continue to operate with significant losses to city
revenue. We can “bury our heads in the sand” and ignore the situation; say
that we need more study or that we do not need to do a piecemeal change,
go along with “a maintain the status quo” philosophy and wait until after the
next election, or we can assume a proactive position to improve services at a
more affordable expense.
My vision for the Civic Center was to “start talking to Professionals” and
treat city employees as I would want to be treated. Like other cities, the council should evaluate employee buyouts in all departments; implementing a hiring freeze; consolidation of duplicate administrative and financial functions,
duties. Associated with these evaluations is having a reduction in force plan
that addresses all employees in the city. If we use common sense leadership,
residents and city employees will benefit. A resolution which could address
my vision was presented to the council and failed for the lack of a second by
another council member. Such inaction on the part of the council is puzzling
since the Resolution was nonbinding and would have required future council
votes in order to go into effect. I want to recognize and thank Mayor Murphy
for his cooperation and willingness to support the resolution and explore issues that could improve service at a lower expense.
If the resolution had passed, we would have a platform for addressing
issues such as professional management for ice availability and other activities, collegiate team locker rooms construction, attracting events (sports,
meetings, expos, promoter events), hosting other civic center functions, improved concessions operations, and hosting community (county, city, civic,
education, etc.) functions. In addressing issues, we would need participation from the users (hockey, figure and other skating activities, advisory
ice committee, chamber of commerce, city officials and employees) of the
facility. One thing that successful leaders and organizations have in common
is that they never stop talking about an issue. If you are to the left and I am
to the right of an issue, we can get to the middle if we continue talking. You
should never, never quit talking about an issue. Hopefully, the council, city
employees, residents and ice proponents will realize that we stopped talking
at the last council meeting.
For the past 15 years, I have observed successful cities who continually
evaluate their departmental organization structure and management of municipal operations. We have an obligation to improve community services and
quality of life amenities to attract people and businesses to locate in Pelham
by doing similar evaluations. All efforts should be made to make Pelham a city
that will attract people and families with discretionary income to come here to
relocate, to live, raise a family and retire.
In the area of economic development, the council has an opportunity to
attract two major new businesses which I support. Delay of time is an enemy with any economic development project. Hopefully, the council will make
timely decisions.
Last night, I attended the PHS graduation. As the young women and men
who are to enter the military were recognized, I reflected upon the words of
The Star Spangled Banner lyrics, fourth stanza: And this be our motto: "In God
is our trust”. As a city, we have to make education our number one priority.
Economic development is education. In closing, I want to thank the many
people who have given me advice about city issues. And, I encourage your
continued recommendations.

Philip Davis Golf Tournament
There was no shortage of teams waiting to play in this year’s Philip Mahan
Davis Memorial golf tournament hosted at Ballantrae. Thirty-six four-man
teams comprised of city and county law enforcement and personnel, local
business owners, educators and residents gathered together on a perfect
day for a little charity golf. “We’re just going to go out there and have fun,”
said Shelby County School Board Asst. Superintendent of Operations Tom
Ferguson. It was exactly what they did.
“I remember seeing a golfer dancing at the hole with a huge smile on his
face,” said Paula Davis, widow of Pelham’s fallen hero and head coordinator
of the event. “I still have a huge smile on my face too and can never thank the
sponsors and vendors enough for making this tournament a huge success.”
Just before the shotgun start, Mayor Don Murphy (the tournament’s
second-place finisher) addressed the golfers gathered at the club house:
“Giving of your time and money—we appreciate that. I really do appreciate
everybody that’s out here today.” In addition to the team registration fees
each paid to play, the golfers participated in a silent auction that raised additional funds for the foundation.
Paula was particularly appreciative for the efforts of everyone coming
together in memory of her late husband. “Thank you to everyone from the
Ballantrae Golf staff, volunteers and board members,” she said. She offered a
special thanks to Butch Byrd, Hal Brown, the golfers, and Lynn Roberson for
the catering. The event truly received all the support it could get.
In all, the tournament raised $17,712.40 to benefit the Philip Mahan Davis
Foundation, which Paula said provides support to survivors when a first
responder is killed or severely injured in the line of duty in the Shelby County
community. “This foundation provides emotional, financial and helpful assistance to the family members left behind.” The foundation is currently working
with the University of Alabama to establish an annual college scholarship in
Philip’s name to benefit a survivor’s family, and has big plans for future assistance and education endeavors. “There is not much support out there for
officers and families left behind,” Paula stated. “I feel that with losing Philip,

stand, by dividing we fall.” Standing together as Americans to honor those
who have lived and died to build our great nation is as important today as
ever. On Sunday, June 10th, the City of Pelham and the Cahaba Valley Elks

Cahaba Valley Elks Lodge No. 1738 will host the 2012 Flag Day Celebration.
“The purpose of the event is to celebrate the American flag and all that it
represents, to promote patriotism in Pelham, and to enjoy a free event with
friends and family,” said Liz Bishop, one of the event’s organizers.
This FREE event will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Pelham Civic Complex and
will feature a variety of informative entertainment, including: a presentation
of America’s historical flags, Pelham Fire Department’s Honor Guard parade
of military flags to recognize and memorialize our active and retired service
men and women, and special patriotic music provided by the 313th U.S.
Army Quintet Band, soloist Jeff Morris of Hunter Street Baptist Church, and
the Crimson Pride Chorus.
This year’s celebration will also feature special guests, including one who
will “present the P.O.W. flag that was held prisoner in a camp in Korea,” said
Liz. She is particularly excited about the flag retirement ceremony that will be
performed by Boy Scout Troop #5, saying it’s “one of the most important and
informative parts of our Flag Day Celebration.” She explained, “It is an experience that will never be forgotten. The entire group (in attendance) participates
with the Scouts and is instructed in the symbolic meaning of the process.” If
you have never seen a flag retirement ceremony performed, it is something
every American should not only see, but understand the reverence and respect
that goes into it. It is the kind of thing that will make you smile when you feel
a deep sense of pride for your country. God Bless America!
Super Drew Fundraiser
On March 26th, tragedy struck the community of Pelham when VIS 3rd grader
Drew Wyatt was hit by a truck while playing in Chandalar. After being airlifted to
Children’s Hospital, the initial prognosis was terrifying: “It went from the doctors
telling us he may not live, to them saying he would never walk again, to he may
have permanent brain damage,” said Drew’s mother, Paige Tortorich. But with an
outpouring of prayer and support from the community, Drew Wyatt walked out
of the hospital just 25 days after the accident.
During the time Drew was recovering, Paige made a post on Facebook calling

Drew “Superman.” The moniker stuck and the kids in his class began calling
him “Super Drew”. Dinah McKinley, whose daughter Jessi was a classmate and
friend of Drew’s, was tremendously concerned about Drew and his family. Having spent many days working in the VIS office, Dinah said, “You’ll remember
certain kids because of their personality—Drew is one of those.”
Dinah began thinking about what she could do to help. Thanks to her oldest son, Brannon, she knew exactly what to do. Brannon had started his own
business last fall, The Knot Shoppe, where he made and sold parachute cord
survival bracelets. She decided it would be perfect to make survival bracelets
in the red, blue and yellow Superman color scheme. “Jessi made them for
[Drew’s] classmates, so they would remember to pray for him,” Dinah said.
Once a few kids had gotten them, other students, parents and teachers began clamoring to get one of their own. The sudden outcry of demand for the

“Super Drew” bracelets had the McKinley’s working double time to fulfill the
orders coming in.
After Jessi made one special for Drew, they decided to charge $8 for each
“Super Drew” bracelet they made, with $5 from each going to the family.
The McKinley’s sold the bracelets everywhere—most of them at the school
and YMCA. Drew, whose complete recovery continues to go well, said, “The
bracelets are really cool.” If you just have to get one for yourself, email TheKnotShoppe@gmail.com. To date, Dinah said they’ve probably made 150 or
more in just a few months. “My personal goal for the fundraiser was to give
Drew’s family $500,” she said, “but we’ve gone way over that.”
“We had never met the McKinley’s before this,” Paige said, “so it was
just amazing.” Paige is still in awe of the support she has received from the
community—“Pelham has been amazing: the schools, the mayor, the first
responders…” And particularly, the new friends her family has made in the
McKinley’s.
Fire Department Explorers
Tyler Payne with wife Madison Williamson Payne
Tyler Payne Receives Awards
Tyler Payne, a 2004 graduate of Pelham High School, graduated Marine Basic Training in Parris Island, SC on April 13, 2012. During his time on Parris Island, he was chosen as a squad leader over his platoon and was part of the 3rd
Battalion India Company. Tyler was awarded a certificate of excellence for his
performance on the physical fitness test and he scored a 298/300 on the combat fitness test. After a ten day leave at home, Tyler left for additional schooling
in North Carolina, Oklahoma, and finally California, before being stationed at a
permanent location. His MOS is Fire Direction and Control with artillery.
Tyler is married to Madison Williamson Payne of Pelham. He is the son of
Dana Payne of Helena and David Payne of Chelsea. His grandparents are Stan
and Barbara Lee and Willard and Lou Payne, all of Pelham.
Battalion Chief Pete Zekoff has been the point-man for the fire explorers
program since day one in September of 1999. “It’s amazing what has grown
since then,” he told the proud parents. Lieutenant Ricky King, one of the
program’s advisors, presented each member with an Excellence Award for
their hard work and dedication following a slide show of their performance
at the competition. After all of the accolades had been given, the explorers
led the crowd to the parking lot where they performed a “bunker drill”—a
demonstration of how quickly they can gear up in the complete fire suit and
be ready for a call.
“I’ve enjoyed this so much,” B.C. Zekoff said with enthusiasm. “We’ve
seen a lot of kids turn into young men through this program.” The fire explorers program is open to young men and women ages 14-20 who are
interested in learning about the fire service through hands-on practical and
classroom evaluations. One of the most exciting parts of the program comes
once training has been completed—explorers who have been in the program
for a while, like current member Chandler Rockett, have the opportunity to
ride along on calls and assist the fire fighters in their duties.
Bowling Tournament
The Alabama State Championship United States Bowling Congress tournament
was held at Vestavia Bowling Center in March 2012. There were over 700 participants between the ages of five and twenty-one over the course of three weeks.
Morgan J. Mullinax of Pelham bowled in the 11- to 12-year-old-girls class. Mullinax won 1st Place out of 64 entrants in the All-Events Handicap with a score of
2071. In January she participated in the Birmingham Youth City tournament at
Holiday Bessemer Bowl and finished 1st Place in doubles with Katie Keener with a
score of 1255. She also placed 2nd in the All-Events Handicap with a score of 1933
with a high game score of 171.

Fire Department Explorers
For a young man (or woman), having the opportunity to grow as a person while learning a vital trade in public service is invaluable. Whether or not
Pelham’s young fire explorers go on to careers in the fire service or related
entities is not what’s important (although many of them do); what matters is
the time spent learning valuable life skills while participating in the program.
Recently, the PFD held an awards night to recognize the efforts and achievements of the twelve-man explorer unit following participation in their first
competition. “These kids are an honor to you as parents,” said Billy Earnest, a
21-year-veteran of the PFD and father to one of the explorers, to the crowd of
parents seated in the room. The guys took on other fire explorer teams from
Birmingham, Mobile and even Texas, returning home to Pelham with a firstplace trophy and two third-place awards. “But they were only seconds away
from bringing more [trophies] home,” Billy continued.

PHS Class of 2012 says
Bittersweet Goodbye
by PHS Sophomore Abby Forrester
“Friday is my last day of high school…and I can’t wait!” Pelham High School
Senior, Shelby Friedman declared in creative writing. As graduation approaches
ever so swiftly for the graduating class of 2012, the opinions of many seniors
vary. Although some are ecstatic, others are sad to leave a school they’ve come
to love in their four years there. The valedictorian Sunny Chang said, “It’s bittersweet, because there are all these people you see every day and then after graduation you’ll never see them again except at maybe some reunion ten years later.”
The class of 2012 has gone through so much together during their years
together; including the death of Carson Sumpter. Sumpter battled cancer for a
year, and passed away in July of last year. He was an inspiration to everyone
who had the privilege of coming in contact with him. Andreia Bond said, “I
would have to say that the best memory of my high school career is when the
Carson Sumpter won the spirit stick at one of the pep rallies. Carson was a
huge impact in the senior class…and I think that is my favorite memory of high
school.” I met Carson my eighth grade year, and simply knowing him changed
me. I remember the first time he spoke
to me at band camp. Usually I was
scared of all these high-schoolers but
he was different, he was a welcoming
person and I know I’ll always remember him for that. The seniors will be missed, that’s for
sure. Even the underclassman are upset
that graduation is now here. Freshman
Kaitlyn Creel said, “I've loved getting
to know the class of 2012. I believe
they're going to do some very exciting
things and they're going to be a bright
contribution to the world. They've really
helped me a lot this year, and I hate to
see them go, but their lives are ahead of
them, and I am anxious for them to live
it! I wish them all the best!” Caps off to
Graduating Senior Sunny Chang
the class of 2012!

Awards Day
Each spring, the PHS auditorium fills with the school’s top scholars, their
family and friends for a ceremony dedicated to recognizing student achievements. Awards Night 2012 was one of the biggest in recent years, as colleges
and organizations awarded over $4.8 million in scholarships to members of
the senior class. Pelham Public Library Director Barbara Roberts was pleased
to contribute to the total by presenting senior Alexandra Cochran with the
Library Guild’s annual scholarship.

Hayden Hall accepting the 2012 Carson James Sumpter Scholarship.
The final presentation was emotional for everyone in the room, as the
Sumpter family took the stage to present the Carson James Sumpter Scholarship to a member of what would have been his own graduating class. Jim
stepped up to the podium, with his wife Jennifer and one of his daughters Madi
Schwarz behind him for support. He calmly, though not without difficulty, told
the crowd how Carson had loved both sports and music growing up, how he
had handled his battle with a rare bone cancer so bravely, and how he became
an inspiration to those who knew him well. “Carson is remembered most for
his passion of life, his patience to accomplish goals, and his smile,” his father
told the tearful audience.
The Sumpter’s started the annual $500 scholarship to reward a deserving
PHS student while also carrying on the legacy Carson left behind. The recipient
must meet the qualifications set by the Sumpter family: at least two years in
the marching band as a musician or visual ensemble member; a minimum 3.0
GPA; and be either majoring in music or dance or participating in a college band.

Additionally, the senior must receive a non-band teacher recommendation and
complete an essay to receive the scholarship. “We have a scholarship committee
that helped choose the award,” Jim said. “Each person on the committee knew
Carson in a very different way and we felt they would be very objective.”
Hayden Hall was presented with the 2012 Carson James Sumpter Scholarship
and she accepted it amidst a standing ovation. Hayden plans to attend the University of Alabama this fall to major in dance. “Hayden has been dancing since 2003
and has earned many dance awards,” Jim noted. “She was also a great student…
[but] what separated Hayden from the other applicants was her essay.”

Bass Team
There have always been a million ways for high school students to get involved
in a sport or club that suits their interests; but 2012 was the first year that PHS
students who loved to fish were able to compete with others who shared their
passion through a school-affiliated program. The PHS bass fishing team has had
an incredible first year under its founding coach Marc Howard, with one of the
two-men teams finishing 12th in the State Championships at Millers Ferry on May
5th. Sophomore Drew Wilson and Senior Billy Butler claimed the 12th place finish.
Earlier in the season, Freshman Tyler Howard and Sophomore Jordan Humphries
finished 8th in a big tournament on Pickwick Lake in Florence. Jordan’s mother,
Amanda Humphries, is proud of what the team has been able to accomplish in its
first year and is excited for future seasons. “We’ve all had so much fun with this,”
she said.
The bass fishing team is organized under the Alabama Student Anglers Bass
Fishing Association (ASABFA), which is in its third year as the official organization for such student clubs in the state. According to the ASABFA’s website, it’s
not just about fishing: “The Association’s program and activities are designed
to get our youth involved in character building, enhanced appreciation of the
natural recreational resources, and teach them responsibility and duty to their
team, their school, and their fellow anglers.” Putting this into practice, the
PHS team recently participated in the Exceptional Anglers Gone Fishin’, Not
Just Wishin’ event at Oak Mountain. The boys served as buddies for a special
needs child, showing them what to do and assisting as the children reeled
them in. “I think it was good for the boys to experience this,” said Jordan
Humphries father, Jason. One thing is certain, the smiles plastered on the
faces of both the kids and the PHS bass fishing team said it all. Everyone
seemed to be having a ball.
Congratulations to the members of the State Championship PHS bass fishing team: Freshmen Tyler Howard and Austin Dollar, Sophomores Jordan
Humphries, Drew Wilson, Austin Handley, Dalton Dewberry, Bailey Eason and
Clint Nicholson, Junior Chris White, and Senior Billy Butler.

Caring for your lawn
A beautiful expanse of green lawn conjures up images of summer picnics,
throwing a football or Frisbee, running barefooted through the sprinkler and
catching lightning bugs. To keep your turf healthy and looking its best during
the growing season, regular maintenance involving fertilization, watering,
mowing and cultivation is necessary.
Knowing when and how much fertilizer to apply is just as important as
knowing what type of warm season turfgrass you have. A soil test is recommended to determine what, if any, soil amendments need to be added to
adjust pH levels. Soil sample testing kits contain boxes for the sample, instructions for taking a proper sample, and information for shipping and paying. Test kits are available from your county extension office or garden center.
Typically, lawn fertilizers can be applied in the spring once the grass begins
to turn green, again in the middle of the summer, and in the fall about six weeks
before the average first frost date. Be sure to follow instructions on the label.
Our warm season turfgrasses need approximately 1 inch of water –
enough to soak the soil to a depth of 6 to 8 inches – once a week after they
are established. Weather conditions such as excessive heat or wind, heavy
rainfall and humidity, cool, cloudy days, as well as frequent fertilization can
impact the amount of water needed, or not. Keep an eye out for wilting or dry
patches and water accordingly.
Depending on how rapidly your grass grows, you may need to mow once a
week or only twice a month. Generally, grass should be mowed often enough so
that no more than one-fourth to one-third of the grass height is cut at one time. If
you need to reduce your grass height by more than that, cut it as high as possible
then gradually work your way to the desired height in subsequent mowings.
Dethatching, core-aerating and top dressing need to be done as necessary
to relieve soil compaction, encourage healthy root growth and discourage
disease. Rental equipment or lawn services can help with these annual or
semi-annual cultivation practices.
For more information on home gardening, check out the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service’s website at www.aces.edu or call the Master
Gardener Hotline at 877-252-GROW (4769).

112 Kilberry Way
Riverchase Campus
As you weave down the serene, winding road through the Ballantrae
community you’ll see plenty of homes with perfectly manicured lawns,
many that would be worthy of receiving the beautification award; yet
there a select few that surpass the standards of an average, well-kept
lawn. 112 Kilberry Way in the Gleneagles subdivision is certainly one
of these. “We had several good nominees this month,” said Beautification Board President Maurice Mercer. “It was hard to choose, [but] this
home was chosen because of its contemporary look and style.” The
landscaping has it all: perfectly pruned trees and shrubs alongside the
house, an array of vividly-colored flora scattered about, and a stunning
green lawn.
The whimsical style is evident in the spiraled cedars that frame the
front windows and the numerous clay pots placed here and there. The
view from the front of the Zouboukos’ home is only accentuated by its
incredible view of the golf course’s famed Scottish-style castle by the
lake. The Zouboukos’ seem to understand that classy doesn’t necessarily mean boring. The landscaping is fun, yet perfectly matched to the
elegant home it surrounds. “From the freshly manicured shrubs to the
fresh blooming flowers, it is obvious how much time is spent in making
this such a worthy home,” Maurice concluded.
If you’ve spent any time driving Highway 261, then you’ve certainly seen June’s commercial beautification winner. Over the last
few years the property has undergone drastic beautification efforts,
adding color and style to the area with its flowers galore. The Riverchase campus of Church of the Highlands (COTH) opened its doors
to the community in 2006 in the old Living Word Church building
that stood on the property. According to COTH Riverchase campus
Pastor Blake Lindsey, the founding pastor of Living Word, Truett
Murphy, had expressed a wish for his church to become part of
COTH when his time was done. “When he went to be with the Lord,
in early 2006, his wife contacted Pastor Chris [Hodges],” said Pastor Blake. The church was immediately taken under the umbrella of
a growing COTH and it became the first of nine satellite campuses
in operation today.
All of the landscaping for the updated Riverchase campus was
developed and is currently maintained by Landscape Services Inc.,
a family-owned and operated landscape firm out of Nashville which
serves commercial and residential properties throughout the Southeast; although COTH employs its own facilities team to keep up with
the day-to-day beautifications.
In January of this year, the expanded Riverchase campus became
fully operational and worship services moved into the brand new
auditorium. Regular services are each Sunday at 8:00, 9:30, 11:30
and 6:00 pm and the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm.
COTH also offers a junior high/ high school service each Wednesday
at 7:00 pm.

One word: Amazing!
I have two children who attend
Shepherd's Promise, 4K and 3K. They
have been there for 3 years now. The
staff and teachers are wonderful and
the facility is very clean. My children
have loved every teacher from room
to room and they are still with the
majority of the kids they started with.
This shows what a wonderful center
it is. The curriculum is awesome and
all the extra's the center provides:

children we care for is our
proprietary “Developmental
Assessment.” This tool was designed
to provide our parents with a regular
report of academic and developmental
progress. While it’s fun to celebrate
milestones, it’s critical to monitor and
encourage progress. Our assessment was
carefully crafted using our state’s,
“Alabama Early Learning Guidelines”, input
from local kindergarten teachers and
principals, and the best information
available across the US. We prepare and
provide assessments every other month so
that you are aware, every step of the way,
where your child is on the way to success
in life! When do we start our assessment
process? With the youngest of our infants!
It makes a difference.
