Azimuth Benefit Raffle
Silent Auction Fundraiser a Success
Raffle tickets can be purchased in person at
Azimuth Counseling or by calling Cathy at 2881001. When purchasing a ticket you will need to
specify which item you desire. All raffle tickets
are $10.00. The drawing will be on December
17th at 4:30 P.M. All Winners will be notified by
phone and/or e-mail. Raffle items with web
pages for you to view are listed below:

Azimuth’s Night of Dreams Silent
Auction and Dessert, held on November 10th
was fun and over $5,000.00 was raised for our
Client Assistance Fund! Over 60 local
businesses donated items to our auction and
about 80 people attended to bid on these great
items. All who attended enjoyed the wonderful
acoustic guitar music throughout the evening by
Mike Richards-Bradt and delicious desserts by
Christy Fay. 58 of our 64 auction items were
sold leaving us with another option for you to
support Azimuth if you could not attend our
auction.

self- help books that often stress victimization.
This book is for those who may be adults but still
find themselves feeling like children trapped in a
destructive pattern with their families.
Speaking of Sex…

Being a therapist, I often have friends that
talk to me about things that they wouldn’t talk to
others about. Early in my marriage I had two
friends that told me about sexual issues they were
having in their marriage. These were two young,
healthy women. I was blown away by the lack of
resources available to them and it was the start of an
interest for me in the area of sex therapy.
Sex therapy address issues like: low sexual
desire, painful sex, inability to have an orgasm,
erectile dysfunction, overall sexual dissatisfaction as
well as other sexual issues. Most people view their
sexuality and therefore their sexual relationship as
being central to who they are. Because of the
importance of this area of life for many people,
when things aren’t working the way we’d like it can
lead to other difficulties like relationship conflict,
depression or anxiety.
I wanted to highlight this area this quarter so
that our readers would know one of the many areas
that we are specializing in here at Azimuth. I work
hard at providing a comfortable, safe and
supportive environment to work on these sensitive
issues.

At Azimuth all therapists work to

letters we plan to highlight some of these.
People who walk into my office often wonder
about the tray of sand sitting on a table along with
the shelves of toys in a corner. These are used to
help individuals give expression to nonverbal
emotional issues. The sand tray can provide a
safe medium for expression of confusing
affective responses in an environment free of
judgment. The toys selected or designs created
provide opportunity for the therapist and client
to reflect on their symbolic representations.
In sacred scriptures we read that Jesus
used sand. In the book of John Jesus drew in the
sand to illustrate some thoughts about not
judging others.

Touching and drawing in sand is a
kinesthetic and sensory experience which can be
calming and often meets a creative urge that
individuals may not be able to express in words.
This method is intensely personal and must be
undertaken in an environment of respect and
trust.
