October 2015 BOARD of DIRECTORS President's Message Hello, all; Nineteen of our members met for breakfast at the Shed in Edom on the 15th. Good food and good fellowship. CHUCK SPORTSMAN 903-833-5572 BILL CAPPS 903-451-9651 WALLACE KEMP 903-489-0026 Harris was pleased to have cat head biscuits, I don't know if the rest of the club had heard of cat head biscuits but it brought some very good memories for me. As a kid I heard my Dad refer to big biscuits as cat head biscuits. Walt's entertainment for us this month was for each of us to guess how many people would sign in at IMAD. Each one of us wrote our guess down and Walt revealed the winner at the end of the IMAD gathering, I was the lucky winner. Speaking of IMAD there was 22 of our club members and 11 cars there. Tex Willis and his family represented the Autumn Trails club. I think there were 7 members from the Tyler club. Several members of the Forth Worth club participated. The Dallas club also had several members there. Summer, the owner of Moore's store, was very appreciative of us having IMAD at her place, and invited us back next year. -----------------------NEWSLETTER EDITOR and WEBMASTER BILL LEE Bill@WRLee.com CLUB OFFICERS President JODY LETCHWORTH 903-498-3670 Vice President There was a small group at cruise night. The morning started early for me, but the weather was perfect for a tour to Ben Wheeler for the International Model A Day. We had eight Model A's drive over from the lake area and others drove in from their routes. We were met by Chuck and Wallace who took care of the parking. With the help of everyone, it did not take long to set everything up. Jody and Gerald registered everyone, while Teena and John Shore worked the raffle table. I think everyone brought one or more door prizes, keeping Emma Pharris busy....and everyone took home a door prize. It was fun! The skies were a bit dark at times and the wind got up, but we stayed dry and pretty cool. The tents on the back porch of Moore's Store were great. Everyone thought the fish was excellent. We registered 42 folks, CCMFC had 27 attending, Winnsboro Autumn Trails club had 5, the Dallas club had 4, Fort Worth had 1 lone gentleman who drove his Model A pickup all the way from Fort Worth and the Tyler club had 5 folks attend. I think the last count of Model A's was 17. It was a great day...Bob Beck donated a luggage rack for a Model A trunk, which was raffled off...and the winner was our very own President Jody! Bill Capps won the 50-50 drawing. We could not have done this without the help of you all....thank you all who worked to make this a great day. I think we all went home pleased that we had done a great job! Page 6 IMAD Thank you to everyone who donated door prizes, those who registered everyone, sold raffle and 50-50 tickets, maned the raffle and door prize tables. Thank you Bob Beck for donating the luggage rack for the raffle, Chuck for working with Summer at Moore's Store to get things planned and also for getting the water and ice. Thanks Jody for shopping for the supplies and the delicious cookies we all enjoyed. Thank you Walt for donating our plates and cups. Thanks Chuck and Wallace for directing the parking. And everyone with the set up and clean up. We could not have done this without all helping. Missing, but not Forgotten Bill Lee As most of you know, I have another hobby besides the Model A: it's model airplanes. I am a nut for aviation, have been all my life and have been a model airplane person since before I can remember. I wasn't at IMAD because I had a very important competition for my model airplane hobby. As you may recall, Sandra and I travel a lot for the hobby, all over the world. Every two years there is a World Championship event somewhere for the type of models I fly, and every country picks a team to represent their country in it. Over the years, I have been on the team as a competitor, or a team manager, or an assistant team manager, or ... almost everything. In 2016, the World Championships will be held in Perth, Western Australia, in mid-May. Sandra and I will be going. The weekend of IMAD, we had the Team Selection for my event. We hosted it in Dallas, I was the primary organizer. My flying partner and I competed and we made the team for Australia. Quite an accomplishment and one we have been working on very hard for the past 2-3 years. Needless to say, it took precedence over IMAD! :-) Page 7 Cars for sale This information comes from Max Westbruck, please direct any questions to him. Car is available from a company called DMC in Forney, TX, Chip Starr, phone number 972 979 3685. Asking $11k From Gary Vick 469-404-4314 or 214-288-1124 With some reservation, I have decided to sell the Model A I purchased from Brooks Gremmels last year. I haven’t had the time to enjoy it. It’s been sitting in my shop for the past six months covered up and attached to a battery charger. I know it’s not good for the car, and the car should be owned by someone who knows how to take care of it. Brooks told me it was worth $16,000, so that’s what I am going to ask for it. I thought I’d make it available to anyone in the club before I made it known it is for sale, in case there was anyone who wanted it for sentimental reasons. I haven’t started it in six months, but the last time I did play with it, it started and ran fine. It’s a driver, not a show car. Unfortunately, I don’t know enough about the cars to give anyone my opinion on it. Thoughts One nice thing about egotists: they don't talk about other people. Why is it called tourist season if we can't shoot at them? Can an atheist get insurance against acts of God? Don't judge folks by their relatives. Always drink upstream from the herd. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in. If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around. Even duct tape can't fix stupid ... but it can muffle the sound! Patronize our Club Sponsors
