Holland Area Newcomers SEPTEMBER 2015 HOLLAND AREA NEWCOMERS Let’s Take Note: Time to Kick-off Another Great Year! HAN ANNUAL KICK-OFF PICNIC Date: September 20, 2015 Time: 3-6PM Place: Kollen Park 240 Kollen Park Drive Holland Waterfront RSVP: by September 16th to president@hollandnewcomers.com Two fun events are planned for families: The Kick-off Picnic at Kollen Park and Apple Picking at Crane Orchard. We hope you’ll invite friends to learn more about HAN. Bring a guest to the picnic or JP’s! Your 2015-16 dues can be mailed or turned in at the picnic. Please join your friends in HAN on Sunday, September 20th from 36 PM for an evening of good food and great friendship! We will provide subs, bottled water, and drinks for the kids. Please bring your favorite dish to share (don’t forget a serving spoon!), and any additional drinks you may want for your family. This event is open to all current members and alumni, as well as anyone interested in finding out more about who we are, so spread the word! Don’t forget, your annual membership dues and forms are due by September 30th, so the picnic is the perfect place to turn them in to our membership chairperson. For everyone who pays dues at the picnic—you will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win some great prizes, including gift cards and a free membership. You don’t want to miss this great event, so be sure to mark your calendar and join us on September 20th. See you there! As their website boasts, “Why Not the What Not?” The menu highlights Lake Perch and Bourbon Glazed Salmon as favorites, although classic American salads and burgers are also featured. If you’ve never been to a Diners event, why not join this charming group now? Where: When: RSVP: The What Not Inn 2405 68th Street Fenville, MI Wednesday, Sept. 23rd 6:30 p.m. Rick and Linda diners@hollandnewcomers.com Ladies’ Night Out: September 25th, The Canning Diva Fall is starting, and we are going to celebrate the seasonal produce by spending an evening with Grand Rapids Canning Diva, Diane Devereaux.(www.canningdiva.com)Diane will teach us the canning techniques for two recipes at the home kitchen of one of our HAN members. We will do some of the preparations of the canned goods, and the reward is going home with something delicious for your pantry. The cost for this event is $35 per person. Diane brings all the equipment and supplies. She will share her skills and techniques for beginners and those seasoned canners. Of course there will be plenty of time for HAN members to socialize and enjoy some snacks. Family Outing (Moms&Tots): October 3rd , Crane Orchard Apple Picking Season is Here! Come out for a great family event, no matter how old your kids are, at one of Michigan’s best apple orchards! We will meet at Crane’s for a fun-filled day of apple picking. Apples are sold by the pound, so you can pick as many (or as few) as you would like. HAN will provide doughnuts and apple cider. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes.
