Chocolatepaper and Pino Gelato celebrated their respective store openings with a joint ribbon cutting on May 27th at The Shoppes at West Village (3565 Electric Road). In 2006, chocolatepaper opened for business in the Cave Spring area and relocated to a new county site in 2011. The family also has a second store in the Roanoke City Market and in Richmond’s Carytown. Chocolatepaper also held a Grand Opening on June 3rd and 4th at the new location. Pino Gelato opened its doors in October of 2010 but chose to delay the Grand Opening until the patio could be completed in warmer weather. Pino Gelato has 16 employees and operates in 1545 square feet. It is a Licensee and corporate headquarters are located in Hilton Head, SC. Roanoke County Board of Supervisors Chairman, Butch Church and Vice Chairman, Charlotte Moore, were on site to present to both businesses for their investment in the county. Supervisor Moore then presented each business with a Certificate of Appreciation. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, Joyce Waugh, President of the Roanoke Regional Chamber, presented Pino Gelato with the Cool Green Biz Award—Level Two. The business recycles, uses biodegradable products, plant based products and eco friendly cleaning supplies.
