Keep Heidi’s Legacy Alive About the K9 Heidi’s Hero’s Foundation—Heavenly Sent Help K9 Heidi was a beautiful soul. My best friend, my furry child and my working partner searching for lost pets. She saved over 2000 missing pets and received 12 commendations from the governor, county execs, police and fire departments in her career. Without the blessing of God bringing her into our lives, Dogs Finding Dogs would have never come to be. She also taught children in summer camps about responsible pet ownership and about search and rescue. Her very last rescue before she died was to save my life by detecting and alerting me to my cancer. After staying by my side thru surgery, chemo and radiation K9 Heidi died on Christmas Eve morning 2015 of cancer herself. I had just gotten the green light that it looks like I was in remission....able to do more and resume some fun normalcy to K9 Heidi's and my lives. The heart break is unexplainable....... On the day that Heidi died, 12/24/15, I had to quickly call the pet services company and make her final arrangements for a private cremation and purchase the urn before the long holiday. I paid for it over the phone. A hour later the company called me back and said "Ms. Anne, you did not tell us who Heidi was when you called. We have a special discount for her and its all completely free of charge!" I cried like a baby even harder than I already was but this was also so comforting in such a horrible time. The K9 Heidi Hero's Foundation - Heavenly Sent Help will be contributing to those pets who are nominated for financial aide so that their families can have a private cremation and bring their babies home one last time. The K9 Heidi Hero's Foundation will also: Supply Oxygen Masks to Fire Departments Award a Yearly Scholarship to a Candidate Dog to Learn Search & Rescue Offering Education on Dealing with Cancer in Pets Cancer Awareness Quilt-etts - Hand Made Writing a Book on the Life and Adventures of K9 Heidi Offering a K9 Heidi Plush Doll to Cancer Patients at Hospitals Above: K9 Heidi Sample Doll and K9 Heidi Teaching Crime Scene Investigations to Children K9 Heidi was a star guest for the last 3 years with the CSI Summer Camps that were hosted throughout Maryland for children who wanted to learn about crime scene investigations. She adored working with the kids. I would take her off leash and she would visit each child with kisses. We would hide a child and she would go find them. We also taught the kids about responsible pet ownership and how search and rescue dogs work. With this in mind, we have a 6 inch replica of K9 Heidi made special with our foundation logo and patches to give out to children in the cancer wards in the hospital. We will be taking Heidi's childrens book written about her adventure in finding Sally the Sea Otter in the zoo and reading to the kids as well. If you have an idea that you think would be perfect for the foundation, please let us know! If you would like to be part of this foundation we would love to hear from you. Many past clients and friends want to help make this a success and have contributed already to the structure of the foundation.... The name "Heidi" means Noble One and Battle Protector. She was and is a Noble One and she in many ways is a battle protector. She won so many battles for many people and the furry loved ones. God Bless her soul. My hopes are that she is in heaven finding all the pets that have lost their clouds and returning them back to paradise. Mommy Loves You Heidi! I Miss You So Much! But we are still going to help.......
