Pepper® Music Composition Contest APU Men’s Chorale High school juniors and seniors are invited to showcase their musical artistry by submitting compositions for the Azusa Pacific University and J.W. Pepper composition contest. Winners receive a $1,000 cash prize and a performance and recording by an Azusa Pacific music ensemble. Submissions will be accepted for the following categories: Orchestra Wind Ensemble Choral (may be accompanied) Jazz Ensemble (big band) Chamber Winners in each category receive: 1. $1,000 cash prize 2. Public performance and recording by an APU ensemble 3. Consideration for publication by Wingert-Jones Publications 4. One-year membership in J.W. Pepper’s My Score program Showcase your musical artistry. submissions are due january 4, 2016 Enter the 2016 Azusa Pacific University and J.W. Pepper® Music Composition Contest How to Enter Adhere to the requirements for difficulty level, length, and instrumentation composition available at apumusiccontest.com. You may enter one piece in each of two different categories. You must submit a separate application for each piece, including your signature and that of your parent or guardian if you are under age 18 on the date of submission. While handwritten scores will be accepted, you are strongly encouraged to use a computer-based notation system in preparing the score and parts, following conventional standards of music notation and part/score preparation. You must submit a recording or demo of your composition (this may be the audio output of your software). Do not include your name directly on the score. Scores showing the name of the composer will be disqualified. Judges for the contest will not know the names of, or any information about, the composers. Do not include parts in your submission, only the score. If you win, you will need to provide a full set of parts at that time. To enter, you must be a high school junior or senior as of January 4, 2016. Applications are available at apumusiccontest.com. Be sure to complete and sign the application. If you are under age 18 on the submission date, your parent’s or guardian’s signature is required. Incomplete applications or those without necessary signatures will not be accepted. Please identify a school administrator who can verify your student status. You may submit entries by email or mail. To submit by email, scan the completed application and email it, along with a PDF of your score and an mp3 of your recording or demo, to musiccontest@apu.edu. Email submissions must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. PST on January 4, 2016. Mailed submissions must be postmarked before 11:59 p.m. PST on January 4, 2016.
