Decorate them with hats, bags, shoes .... whatever you like to make it a fun looking image. Also a bonus tutorial for creating Puff Balls! REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN Eye Candy 7 works in PaintShop Pro X6 & 7- 64 and 32bit KPT Collection is part of PaintShop Pro Ultimate versions. Download EyeCandy 3.1 / 4000 from the PIRC link above and add to your plugins folder. Add the fluffy puff.kpt preset to Plugins / KPT / Presets / FiberOptix. We will not be using Eye Candy 3.1 in this tutorial. It no longer functions correctly. PaintShop Pro X7 Tutorials Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls Page 2 PAINTSHOP PRO PLUGIN – KPT COLLECTION – FIBEROPTIX 1. Open a New Transparent Background Image size 800x800 resolution at default setting. 2. From the Toolbar pick the Selection tool • From the Tools Options Palette apply the following: • Selection type drop-list: Ellipse • Mode: Replace • Feather: 5 • Anti-alias: Unticked 3. Starting in the centre of the canvas, hold the shift key whilst drawing out an oval shape of 200x200 pixels. It doesn't matter if the shape is slightly oval. >>> Keep this selection active whilst you move on to the next stage. 4. Select the Flood Fill Tool. Go to the Materials Palette and select the Foreground colour to #a0824a. Flood fill with #a0824a . You will see there is a Floating Selection above Raster 1. Do not deselect. 6. Open Effects, Plug-ins, KPT Collection. FiberOptix. When the dialogue window opens it will completely cover the screen area. To reduce the size, hold the Ctrl key and click 5 on the keyboard. If you want it smaller again, click 4 or 3 whilst holding the Ctrl key. 7. Open the Preview window and apply the settings shown in the image shown below. Once you have done this one fuzzle you can go wild and create your very own colourful fuzzles. 9. Apply the following settings to each panel: a) Mask: Mask Bevel Width at 63%. Blend Noise to Mask at 13% b) Fibre Controls: Fibre Density: 95% Fibre Length: 13% (if you increase the length too much it will be cut off on the image) Fibre Tapering: 75% Fibre Flatness: 14% Whorls: Direction Angle: 28% Direction Intensity: 0% Copyright© Maureen Eves-Lavis of Creative-Designs 2004 -2014 Australia This document may not be translated, duplicated, redistributed or otherwise appropriated without permission. PaintShop Pro X7 Tutorials Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls Page 5 c) Fibre Colour: Metal: Apply a colour by clicking on the colour palette Mix Gradient Colour: 75% Mix Flat Colour: 100% Luma Variance: 22% Fibre Transparency: 0% d) 3-D Lighting: 65% e) Noise: -100% 10. You should have an image similar to the one shown on the right. Don't worry if the colours vary slightly. Just remember to never increase the fibre too much or the furry bristles will get chopped. The image should resemble the one below in PSP. Go to Selections and Defloat. Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls Page 6 To apply eyes, nose, mouth and or legs and arms you can either use Tubes, create eyes with the Preset Shapes, or the Ellipse Tool and add features whatever your imagination can dream up. The rest is now up to you to decorate your Fuzzle created with KPT FibreOptix. 12. When complete, crop the canvas to the image for a better size and finish. Experiment with the settings, colours and presets to create your very own little family of Fuzzles. EYE CANDY 4000 Creating Fuzzles with various versions of Alien Skin, Eye Candy produces different and better results. Eye Candy 4000 is limited due to it being a Demo version. 1. Open a new Raster, Transparent image 800x800 pixels. 2. Selection Tool, Ellipse from the Tools Options Palette. • Increase Feather to 5. • Anti-Alias ticked. 4. Begin in the centre of the canvas, hold the Shift key whilst drawing out the shape. Draw a long oval. PaintShop Pro X7 Tutorials Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls Page 7 5. Flood fill with a Gradient of your choice. 6. Go to Selections, Float. 7. Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 4000. When the dialogue window opens you will see a large preview window that will contain your shape and will have applied any settings that are currently applied. 8. Change the settings to what is shown below. (Leave Random seed as is) • Direction: 74 • Density: 44 • Curl: 43.28 • Curliness: 89 • Length: 28.49 • No other settings required - click OK. • a) If you apply Colour Hair Uniformly, you need to apply a colour. However, as a gradient has been applied, it's best to leave this unticked. • b) The hair can be rotated so the fur can be in different directions. To do this, use the Direction wheel to try out different directions of the hair. • c) Increasing Length (pixels) will increase the length of the fur. • d) Density determines how thick you want the fur. • e) Adjust lighting and Direction to add a little brightness. You can use shapes, preset shapes and or even paint features, it's up to your imagination. The image here was duplicated then flipped vertically. To the lower portion Colourise was applied to give a slight variation in colour. EYE CANDY 5/6 – TEXTURES – ANIMAL FUR 1. Open a Transparent image 800x800 pixels. 2. Selection Tool, Circle. • Feather 5 • Anti-alias ticked. 3. Holding the Shift key, start in the centre of the canvas, draw out a nice round circle. 4. Select the Flood Fill tool. Go to the Materials Palette and click on a colour box to open the Material Properties. Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls Page 9 Click on the Pattern Tab and find the pattern that is provided - kp104corner2. • Change the settings to: • Angle: 160 • Scale: 100 With the Flood fill tool, fill the selection. 6. Go to Selections, Float. 7. Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 5, Textures, Animal Fur. 8. Under the Settings tab is a list of different styles of Animal Fur. For this tutorial, we will not be applying any of these settings as the colours have already been chosen. 9. Click on the Pattern tab and you can see the Original Image is stated. • Tick Draw Outside the Selection. • No need for Seamless Tile to be ticked. • Next click on the Hairs Tab. The Hairs tab is where you can increase/decrease the length of hair. Change the Wave Strength – the higher the value the stronger the wave in the fur. Edge Cover – the higher the value the more the fur covers the edge of the image. Apply these settings: ◦ Main Hair Direction 189 ◦ Hair length: 114 ◦ Wave Strength 100 ◦ Wave Spacing (pixels) 120.72 ◦ Stiffness 93 ◦ Edge Cover 100 Your finished image may look a little different to the example below. Click OK. Back to the canvas in your workspace. Now it's time to play with your newly created vibrant fuzzle by adding embellishments to bring it alive. EYE CANDY 7 WITH PAINTSHOP PRO X7 64 AND 32 BIT (Eye Candy 4, 5 and 6 can also be used but not with 64bit) For this part of the tutorial I am using PSPX7 64bit only. (PSPX6 64bit can also be used) An Ostrich image is available for you to use in the zip file. 1. Use the same applications as above to create the selection and fill with a colour, gradient or pattern of your choice. I chose a silk type pattern of blues. 2. With the selection floated, go to Effects, Plugins, Eye Candy 7. 3. Select Animal Fur. Click on the Factory under Presets and select Painterly (Needs Source Image). is a list of furs that you can apply: Select Long, Messy. (Fixed: In Fixed Scaling Mode, the size of this effect will not change, even when it is applied to a different image). There is no need to add colours unless you want to change it. In this case you will require to use one of the patterns from the drop list by Pattern Type. We will continue to use the colour selected. PaintShop Pro X7 Tutorials Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls Page 14 Click on the Hairs tab and move the sliders as shown below. • Hair Length: 152.85 • Wave Strength: 58 • Wave Spacing (pixels) 217.31 • Stiffness: 96 • Edge Cover: 44 The fuzzle is now complete using EC7 with PSPX7 64bit. All it requires is a little bit of dressing up. This is what I did with the fuzzle shape I created. I duplicated the image and moved the duplicated layer to the left side tilting it with the Pick tool set to scale. I dragged the image to the right to sit on top of it. The appearance is a seam in the centre as shown in the image on the right. With the Pick tool set at Free (Shift) I adjusted the feathers to cover the Ostrich's feathers. With the Push brush lengthen a few feathers. Give it a try and see what YOU come up with. PaintShop Pro X7 Tutorials Fun Fuzzles and Puff Balls BONUS TUTORIAL - PUFF BALLS BY KIND PERMISSION OF OR Page 16 POMPOMS SHONNA I am including these fluffy balls or puff balls because they are made in a similar way to the fuzzles. The technique and instruction is owned by Shonna who is a frequent member of the PIRC Bulletin Board, so all kudos goes to Shonna and thank you for allowing me to add to this tutorials. 1. Firstly, download and open the shape provided into the workspace. The size of the whole image is 500x500 with a transparent background with the shape in the centre. Do not increase the size of the central image. 2. Go to Selections, Select All, Float. 3. Open Effects, KPT, FiberOptix. 4. Click on this button to open the Presets panel. 5. Click on Add Preset 6. Locate where the fluffy puff.kpt is. The selection of presets will show in the panel. You can click on any one of the presets to either change colour or a slightly different style. There's no need to change any of the settings when using a preset. Click the Tick button to return to PaintShop Pro workspace.
