2nd PAL Dinner & Auction a Success
On April 5th, the 2nd Annual
Dinner & Auction was held at the
Tiger Woods Nike Center. This
year’s theme was Cowboy/Cowgirl
Western theme.
With over hundreds of auction items and many participants the
auction raised over $30,000 to go
towards the PAL Center and youth.
Some of our PAL members
performed to the ‘Watermelon Crawl’
and also got some participants to join
in on their ‘Happy’ dance.
Executive Director, Jocelyn
Simpson, said the people were raving
about the kids and their dance abilities. “We raised a lot of money to go
towards the kids and our program! It
was a huge success!”

Lill’s Kitchen Gets A New Makeover
PAL was a recipient of a Bimbo Bakery grant that gave the kitchen an
upgrade of appliances. PAL received a new refrigerator, dishwasher, double oven stove, microwave, popcorn machine and a new
counter top to be done on April 25th.
These new appliances will help provide
more meals and to help PAL be more updated with
the current health codes. A feature that will also be
included to the new makeover, is back splash of
tiles that are individually painted by PAL members,
volunteers, and donators!

Bimbo Bakery has also provided PAL with
numerous snacks and food items from their bakery
and partners. “I was excited to hear that we would
get new appliances for our kitchen, because the
ones we were using were falling apart,” says staff

BOXING TEAM UPDATE
Garden Club
In the month of March, the team has participated in about 20
matches. The team has many more bouts upcoming,
including their Boxing Show on May 17. The team plans to
compete for National Titles in Oxnard, California and
Mesquite, Nevada in June and July 2014.
PAL has partnered with Beaverton’s Garden Club to
revamp the PAL garden in the back. The garden was
tilled over and now has a trellis, and a few raised
garden beds. “We planted radishes, red potatoes,
blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries”, said PAL
member Claire Carter. “I joined the club to help make
the plants grow and then to eat them after”, said PAL
member Divine Crane.
