In 2006 following the
high educational system
reforming
several
research
and
educational institution
joined
RSU.
The
institutions carried out
applied type of research
and trained personnel in
engineering,
technologies, agrarian
sector etc.

Geographic location had a major impact on the development of the
University mission and strategic development plan.
It is located in Batumi.
Batumi is a seaside town along the Black Sea coast and capital of Adjara,
an autonomous republic in southwest Georgia. Sometimes considered to
be Georgia's second capital, with population of about 125 000. Batumi
serves as an important port and a commercial center.
It is situated in a
subtropical zone, rich in
agricultural
produce
such as citrus fruit and
tea.
Most
of
its
economy
revolves
around tourism.

 integration in the international educational
networks, sharing the experience of leading foreign
universities, improving the curricula, taking into
consideration the needs of the employers and the
labour market while preparing the specialists;
 relevance and integration of academic and
scientific-research activities.

In 2011 the university successfully passed
authorization and accreditation. RSU offers wide range of
options to students at all the three stages of education:
there are about 42 vocational, 43 Bachelor’s, 23
Master’s, 8 doctoral and 2 single-level programs.
At present, 5000 students study at the University. The
staff consists of 245 professors, 67 researchers, over
300 part time staff.
The academic and scientific personnel of the
University are successfully engaged into the directions of
Natural Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Law,
Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Engineering,
Technologies, Business and Public health and agricultural
fields.
