2015 Annual Help the Hooch and Watershed Festival October 2
2015 Annual Help the Hooch and Watershed Festival October 2-3, 2015 The Columbus Water Works is a proud member of this community and supports several programs that enhance our way of life. One such program is the Annual Help-the-Hooch and Watershed Festival. This program started over 20 years ago as an idea for a clean-up project. The first year, we had over 500 volunteers working to clean up the Chattahoochee River and Riverwalk. This past year we had over 10,000 volunteers and were recognized as the single largest clean-up project encompassing Muscogee County, Harris County, Ft. Benning and Russell County in Alabama. Volunteers in the Chattahoochee Valley area have been working hard to help protect our water, which is the most precious resource we have. In recognition of these efforts, a Watershed Festival has been added to the river clean-up event. At this festival, groups and companies come and display what they are doing to help our community and the environment. This year’s event will be on Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October 3rd, 2015. Friday’s event will focus on the area’s schools and Ft. Benning. Saturday’s event will focus on the volunteers and the Watershed Festival. The river and waterway clean-up will be on Saturday, October 3 and start at 8:00 am and finish at 11:00 am. The Watershed Festival will be after the clean-up beginning at 11:00 am and ending at 1:00pm at Golden Park.
