« Espoirs culinaires de la Région de la Capitale nationale »®
Ottawa, Ontario, November 2, 2015 – Today, Mr. Michael McLellan, Vice-President of
the Vanier Community Service Centre (Vanier CSC) shared the details regarding the
Fourth Edition of the Culinary Competition “Espoirs culinaires de la Région de la Capitale
nationale”®.
His Excellency Riadh Essid, Ambassador of Tunisia in Canada and Honorary President of
the Third Edition, has entrusted the Honorary Presidency of the 2016 Edition to His
Excellency Werner Wnendt, Ambassador of Germany in Canada. The Competition will
take place, on March 1st, 2016 at La Cité, under the direction of the Co-President Wayne
Murphy, Coordonnator/Professor of Art and Culinary Management at La Cité, and Chef
Marianne Weber.
“We are delighted that our country will be the inspiration of this new edition. It is for us
an opportunity to promote our culture and to demonstrate solidarity with the
community”, declared His Excellency Werner Wnendt, Ambassador of Germany in
Canada.
This signature event offers a chance for young and upcoming chefs from the Region,
assisted by students from La Cité, to compete in a friendly environment. Germany will
be the inspiration for their creations.
“The competition is another example of our commitment to partnering with our
community”, mentioned Mr. Michel Gervais, Executive Director of the Vanier CSC. “We
are proud to demonstrate that our organization offers excellent services contributing to
both positive, social and economic outcomes.”
“The teachers and the students of La Cité are proud and happy to participate in the
Fourth Edition of this important competition. It is yet another opportunity for our
students to be exposed to the standards required for a high-level competition, and
following last year’s success, we will also be renewing the artistic pieces contest”, said
Mr. Wayne Murphy, Coordinator/Professor, Culinary Arts and Culinary Management
Programs, École d’administration, d’hôtellerie et de tourisme, La Cité.
A community development organization, the Vanier CSC offers a continuum of social
and community services accessible to all, in response to the evolving needs of its
clienteles. Through its ability to innovate and collaborate with partners, the Vanier CSC
is a leader and an open and caring centre of expertise within the community.
