Old Business:
Chicago Auto Show: Everyone that attended the show had a great time. Let’s see how many
2014 Corvettes we have in the future! We can dream…………….
Sue Giese had an idea for an event for OCC to participate in. The Mackinaw City Corvette
weekend. It's called Corvette Crossroads Auto Show. It starts Friday, August 23 with
registration & free live entertainment. Saturday the 24th is the car show and the Corvette parade
across the Mackinac Bridge. Lots of free time to visit Mackinac Island and the Locks at Sault St.
Marie. You can check out the brochure at www.mackinawchamber.com
Chili Cook-Off: Margaret Greene went over the details for the event and made sure everyone
was on board and knew what they had volunteered to do for the event.
New Business:
Car Show at Meadowbrook Assisted Living: We will need members to volunteer to bring their
cars - 10 to 15 cars total. The date is Sept 21st and the sign-up sheet will be posted closer to the
date.
EVS Car Show: The members discussed our options for the show. More at the next meeting.
Lions Chicken Roast: Gregg Goetz stated that the Lions Club in Grafton asked if we would be
willing to have members show their corvettes at this event – Sunday, June 2, 2013
Wayne led a discussion in which members talked about the first Corvette they’d seen, and when
they decided to have one of their own. The next meeting will feature discussion of the C1 and
trivia.
Motion for adjournment was made by Jon Gilmore and seconded by Ray Schenk 7:35 p.m.
The second half of the meeting was then turned over to Wayne Richter.
The next meeting will be March 17th, 2013 at Flipside – at 5:00pm for dinner – 6:00pm for
meeting.
March 20th is the 1st day of Spring! Get ready……………………..
Respectfully submitted,

Here’s the start of a new feature in the
newsletter - stories and pictures of our early
Corvette experiences. In 1968 I sold my 59
T-Bird and bought this 283 Corvette for
$800. It was a daily driver and, while it was
great in the summer, was definitely a drag in
the winter - hard to start, and snow coming
in the front convertible top seal. But, with
snow tires, the traction wasn’t so bad! In
those days, vettes weren’t that big of a deal
and no one imagined that they would be
highly sought-after collectibles. So, I drove
it and ended up trading it even to a guy for a 65 GTO which, for me, was a huge upgrade in
straight-line performance! I still remember slapping an 8-track into the tape deck I’d screwed
into the vertical glove box between the seats and listening to Jefferson Airplane while taking a
cruise on a sunny summer day!
Let’s see some photos and stories from other members - please try to keep pictures at least ten
years old.
