Biblically, the practice of Jubilee every 50th year (Leviticus 25) is rooted in the creation ordinance of Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11). In summary, three essential features characterized this year: • Liberty was proclaimed to all Israelites who were in bondage to any of their countrymen (freedom). • There was a return of ancestral possessions to those who had been compelled to sell them because of poverty (restoration). • It was a year of rest for the land even though it had been so in the previous sabbatical year (rest). It is a testimony to God the Creator of heaven and earth, who rested after shaping the universe. Our declaration We confess God is the Lord over all. We rest in God, trust and depend on Him in our daily lives. We proclaim freedom from sin, deliverance from bondage through Jesus Christ. We receive a double portion of His blessings and providence. We pray all people will come to believe in Jesus Christ. We plant new churches (six in 2012) to reach new communities. Another good year ahead! Advisor : Pr. Park (3 September 2012) “Thanks to the cell groups from New Life who are visiting the churches of Orang Asli every week, their faith is growing rapidly.” Pr Park. New Life Bidor Currently, there are about 200 members attend this church. We have 3 services weekly - Wednesday afternoon, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. We also sense that these Orang Asli are maturing in their Christian faith. Thanks to the weekly visit and teachings from New Life Cell Groups. On the 28 July 2012, Pastor Lawrence brought a group of medical team who served in medical treatment to the Orang Asli. The current church’s roof is covered with zinc sheets that causes strong heat within the church in daytime and irritates the members of staying together for services. Prayer Request: Sponsors for the construction works on ceiling, washrooms and place for children service. New Life Tapah Currently, there are about 100 members attend this church. The worship service is disturbed by other villagers, and whenever this incident occurs, the church members gather and pray. Because of this, the church members rise up in prayer and grow stronger in their faith and walk with the Lord. Recently, we also have villagers from Batu Satu (a nearby village) joined our service. Prayer Requests: Supply of amplifiers and electricity Sponsors for the construction works on ceiling and washrooms New Life Tanjung Malim Recently, we started worship service in Tanjung Malim. There are about 70 people accepted the Lord. We just bought a piece of land for building the church. Prayer Request: Sponsors for materials supply in building the church. We truly hope that God will bless every pastor and member in New Life and thank you for loving and supporting the Orang Asli Ministry. Report MEDICAL MISSIONS TO ORANG ASLI, NEW LIFE BIDOR, PERAK 28 July 2012 Report By Peter Hong & Cell Group This is the first medical missions to Bidor with a team of 23 people comprised of 2 doctors (Dr Frank Tan & Dr Liu), 1 pharmacist, 13 adults & 7 children with the aim to evaluate the medical needs of Orang Asli and plan for future mobilization. The doctors conducted basic screening and prescribed medication with vitamins to the Orang Asli. The next medical missions will be heading to Orang Asli, New Life Tapah. W e woke up early and got dressed. My dad, siblings and I got ready to drive to the Orang Asli kampong located deep in the jungle. We planned to provide medical treatment to the people in the kampong. It was a 40 minutes drive and we stopped by a restaurant to meet up with our cell group members and journeyed together. It was a bouncing journey on the uneven road. We drove slowly and passed by fields of plantation and rows of palm trees. A few minutes later, we turned in a small path which finally led us to the kampong. We saw unfinished houses and houses made of logs and sticks. Tanned and barefooted children stared at us as we drove by. We arrived at the church where the medical treatment was held. We had a time of worship before the medical treatment. I noticed everyone was staring at us as if they never saw strange beings like us. They followed us with their eyes everywhere we went. When worship was over, the adults set up tables for putting medicine and medical equipment. Dr. Frank and Dr. Liu were assessed people with health problems. I helped as a “nurse” to call up each person according to their given numbers, as to ensure the people were on first came first treated basis. It was a tiring job because everyone wanted to be the first to get treated. But I enjoyed it, despite the stuffiness I felt like a nurse. I was not just helped with the numberings but also with other things such as taking the temperatures of the patients (Uncle Liu helped me with that). Some of the patients had serious health problems and they needed to go to hospital for further check-up. We finished at late noon, got back into the car and journeyed back home on the bumpy and uneven road again. It was truly an amazing trip and I am happy that I had the experience of being a nurse. Amanda Hong, 14 years old. Report Report MISSIONS TO COLOMBO, SRI LANKA 11 – 15 Apr 2012 By New Life Puchong report by Sarah Devaraj A team led by Pr Kenneth Toon and Sis Loo Ann comprised of 11 people of which one member was from New Life PJ English. The team facilitated the children, youth and encounter camps. Children Camp The children camp had more than 100 children participating. Most of the kids were from the orphanage run by the church and they were in dire need of love, GOD ministered to these little ones through us and most of the kids broke down in tears even as they were worshipping and crying for HIS love. At a tender age, the children truly know the meaning of praying for their country as most of them would have been exposed to the civil war. They prayed earnestly and called out for God’s anointing and glory to be filled in their nation. Youth Camp The youth were mostly from the urban area of Sri Lanka. There were about 110 youth. The sessions were mostly spending much time in the presence of GOD in worship and the Holy Spirit ministered to them as the message was shared, it was very effective and easily understood. They were ministered to and encountered breakthroughs at the camp. Encounter Camp (Adult) This camp was facilitated by Pr Kenneth Toon and Sis Loo Ann. The first group was a leadership team (pastors, leaders and their spouses) of 19 people, whereas the second group of 9 people, mainly were professional young adults. There were many breakthroughs, encounters and bondages were broken by the power of the Holy Spirit. “It was more of me getting blessed and the quality and wonderful time spent in GOD, in His presence and reading His Word, and listening to other speakers brought revelation to me. I did not contribute much but I received so much from GOD” - Alfred – “I have learned so much, first time I shared on God’s Word. God guided me to prepare the lesson and blessed my sharing. I was challenged by Aunty Mei Ling if I could jump as much as the youth in Sri Lanka does, I must say the Holy Spirit guided and strengthen my worship lead and I enjoyed worshipping with them so much. I kept telling Jesus that He must increase and I must decrease” - Shelton – “Ever since the camp I sense and have greater anointing of the Holy Spirit in my life. It was a time of manifestation of God working through us as His vessel and instrument. None are incapable to be used to do the work for Our Father Kingdom and He will pour our HIS spirit abundantly to those who seek and desire. It is just a matter of us willing or not to be used by the Sovereign Lord” - Sarah – Report Report KOBE MISSION TRIP = BLESSING OTHERS X BEING BLESSED Kobe Mission Trip: 12 – 19 September 2012 report by Hana Chiu Team: Pastor Lawrence Chen, Chang Lip Yee, Hana Chiu and Ng Wen Li of New Life PJ together with Pastor Jeffrey and Jaecie Lam of New Life Cheras. Travel: We flew more than six hours during the night and landed in Kansai Airport first thing in the morning. From there, we continued with another 90 minutes of taxi ride to Kobe. Highlights: Tajima and Kobe Shinbun W e drove 3 hours inland to visit Tajima area where the chairman of the local farmer’s association took us to visit the modernised traditional charcoal making process, pluck blueberries straight from the tree and spoke to passionate local farmers who are practising organic planting methods. During the visit Pastor Lawrence was interviewed by a reporter for Kobe Shinbun (the local daily in Kobe area) and so the mission team made it into the newspaper two days after we landed! Malaysians visitors interested in organic farming method of Japan! Malaysia Night : A Cultural Exchange e cooked for 50pax in a little kitchen with the help of Kobe Bible Fellowship (KBF) members who were obligingly peeling, cutting, washing, chopping away, taking orders from amateurs Malaysian ‘chefs’ who were most protective over their big pots of black colour liquid. Our menu of Bak Kut Teh, stir-fried cabbage and steam pumpkin was a winner indeed. Everything was cleared out. Japanese ingredients coupled with lots of Malaysian love tasted heavenly. Jaecie did a mooncake making demonstration that received overwhelming response from the audience. The night was rounded W Report off with a lantern parade around the church compound and candlelight prayer for Kobe and for Japan. KBF’s Innovative Outreach a former mafia member. Pastor Lawrence officiated its opening ceremony and was the first paying customer! Initiatives: Little House – a quaint little café where residents are able to just drop by and enjoy lunch or tea with a little company and some background Christian music of yesteryears. The main patrons now are the senior citizens living alone looking for affordable and convenient meal. Every third Sunday of the month KBF conducts morning church service in this little space capable of holding a maximum of 20pax. God’s favour was with us throughout the trip and we were most grateful… we had good weather throughout the trip even though the weather forecast was rain.…we went to a restaurant that gave us 50% discount on the food and was entertained by its 77-year old owner who even gave us each a bag of confectionery as door gift.… Wen Li and I were the first occupants of a newly rented apartment right next door to the church. Olive Garden – a new hair salon single-handedly ‘manned’ by an award winning hairstylist who was God bless Japan! Nihon ni Kamisama no shukufuku ga arimasuyou ni!
