PUFFINS: Ages 1-3 with Parent Participation
Wednesdays 9:15 - 10am
The Puffins class is for our youngest gymnasts from

participate during the class as it allows an opportunity
to discover the environment together. Each class has a
motor and stimulation theme that is supplemented with
music, props, and a combination of gross and fine motor
skills. During the class parents will discover new ways to
interact with their young movers while they explore the

as a focus on learning to count to the beat and move to the
rhythms of various types of music.
pointe work, are also welcome to take this class. Because

noise. We’ll work with a variety of music styles tailored to
the interests of the class. All ages and experience levels
are welcome!
BEGINNER JAZZ/TAP: Grades K-3
Tuesday 3-4pm
A fun intro class to these two styles! We'll do a Jazz warm up
followed by learning new steps, working on Jazz technique for

our feet can actually be used as a musical instrument!

In this class we'll learn the progression of a classical Ballet
class: barre warm-ups, center technique, corner combinations,
petite allegro combinations (small, quick jumps), and finally a

positions, proper alignment, and improving our balance,
strength, & flexibility as we have fun learning how Ballet
technique can help you to be a better dancer in all the
various styles of dance!
INTERMEDIATE JAZZ: Grades 4-8
Tuesday 4-5pm
We’ll explore a variety of styles including Broadway Jazz and
Lyrical, as well as some contemporary and Hip Hop! Whenever

dancers can be more challenged.

DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
YOU CAN REDUCE YOUR DIABETES RISK
AND GAIN TOOLS FOR HEALTHY LIVING
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps those at high risk of
developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by
eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest
amount of weight in order to reduce their chances of developing the
disease.
Research by the National Institutes of Health has proven that
programs like the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program can
reduce the number of cases of type 2 diabetes by 58%.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
In a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach will facilitate a small
group of participants in learning about healthier eating, physical
activity and other behavior changes over 25 sessions. The yearlong program consists of 16 weekly sessions and three sessions
every other week during the first six months followed by 6 monthly
sessions in the second six months.
LAUNCHING IN JANUARY 2017!
Classes will begin in January 2017 with options available
for location (within Boothbay and Damariscotta areas) and
time (day or evening) based upon your availability. If you
are interested or would like to learn more about eligibility
for the program, contact Casey Clark Kelley at
cclarkelley@clcyma.org or 207-350-7026.
