Chainmaille Weave Catalogue 2015
Chainmaille Weave Catalogue
2015
Barrel Weave
Shown made in jewellers brass.
This weave is thin and relatively feminine, and is a good choice when
wanting something simple but with interesting details.
Bee Stings
Shown made in aluminium with an infinity charm.
This is a thin, flexible weave which works very well as a children's
bracelet or with a charm, as seen in the picture.
Box Weave
Shown made in stainless steel.
This weave is sturdy, dense but still flexible. Fairly masculine, it works
well for steel jewellery or other chunky pieces.
Byzantine
Shown made in aluminium with colour rubber rings.
One of the more famous jewellery weaves, Byzantine is an intricate
chain suitable for all kinds of different pieces. From necklaces to
bracelets to keyrings and other accessories, few weaves are more
versatile than this.
Byzee Beez to Butterflies
Shown made in aluminium.
This weave has a strange name, but the structure of it has a simple
beauty. A variation on Byzantine, the weave works well as a thin,
feminine bracelet.
Candy Cane Cord
Shown made in aluminium.
Candy Cane Cord comes in three variations, two of which are shown in
the picture. Out of the two, I generally recommend the standard version,
as it is more flexible and comfortable to wear. This weave can be made
to be dainty and feminine or chunky and masculine, depending on the
size of the rings used.
Celtic Flower
Shown made in anodised aluminium.
This weave is a unit in the shape of a flower. It's perfect for pendants, or
earrings if made smaller. With so many colours available, anyone can
find a flower they like.
Celtic Labyrinth
Shown made in aluminium.
Celtic Labyrinth is one of the most intricate chainmaille weaves you will
find amongst those widely known. Each unit is made up of a couple
dozen rings and then connected together to make a chain. This weave is
perfect for dressy bracelets or earrings.
Celtic Spiral Knot
Shown made in aluminium.
This weave looks deceptively simple, but is in fact made up of rings
curling around each other in a knot-like pattern. Feminine, delicate and
elegant, the structure lends itself well to both bracelets and necklaces.
Celtic Strap
Shown made in aluminium.
This weave makes a wide band suitable for bracelets and even watch
straps. Intricate and unique, this is a worthy member of the Celtic family.
Dragonscale
Shown made in aluminium.
Another one of the famous weaves, Dragonscale is dense yet flexible and
so smooth you can't quite believe it's made of metal. This is the weave
that makes many people fall in love with chainmaille. Dragonscale is
very versatile, but due to the time involved in making large pieces it is
most frequently seen as bracelets.
Elfsheet
Shown made in stainless steel.
This weave is sturdy, dense and, depending on how it's made, not very
flexible. It still makes a beautiful bracelet suitable for all genders and
will look at home both as an evening accessory and for everyday wear.
Elfweave
Shown made in stainless steel.
This is the single chain version of Elfsheet. This weave is beautiful,
flexible and unique, but it does have a tendency to fall into itself to
create a more blocky look than that in the picture. A bracelet made in
Elfweave would be well suited for people who like to fidget with
something, as it will easily go between its two states with a bit of
manipulation.
European 4-in-1
Shown made in rubber rings with aluminium connectors.
This is probably the most used armour weave – when you see chainmail
shirts, coifs or more modern clothing it's most often made with this
technique. The ring connections are also frequently seen in jewellery,
especially for cuff style bracelets, as shown in the picture. Flexible,
comfortable and stylish, this is a good choice for simple pieces.
Full Persian 6-in-1
Shown made in aluminium.
This weave makes a sturdy chain, suitable for bracelets, necklace
chains and even lanyards. It has a simple, relatively masculine structure
and works best in aluminium or steel.
Half Persian 3-in-1
Shown made in stainless steel.
Take Full Persian 6-in-1 and cut it in half. That's literally what Half
Persian 3-in-1 is. This weave makes a thin, open chain which works well
for bracelets and necklace chains.
Half Persian 4-in-1
Shown made in aluminium.
This weave is the big brother of Half Persian 3-in-1. Made with very
similar techniques, the two weaves still look quite different. Half Persian
4-in-1 is denser and takes on a rectangular shape. It's also one of the
slinkiest weaves you'll encounter – it runs through your hands like sand.
Helm Weave
Shown made in aluminium.
This is an old weave, used in jewellery for hundreds of years. Simple yet
beautiful, Helm Weave makes a great bracelet, choker or necklace. It is
also possible to connect several chains together to make a wider band.
Inverted Round
Shown made in stainless steel.
As the name might suggest, this is a round chain, made as a variation
upon European 4-in-1. Smooth but stiff, this weave makes a great
masculine necklace or bracelet. It also works well for keyrings and other
accessories.
Japanese 12-in-2
Shown made in aluminium.
This weave looks very simple, but most people would be able to
appreciate the work involved in using such tiny rings to connect together
their larger counterparts. The structure of this weave makes it very
flexible and it's very comfortable as a bracelet.
Jens Pind Linkage (JPL)
Shown made in aluminium.
This is a fine, thin chain perfect for use as a necklace chain with a
pendant. It is smooth and flexible, and will look feminine made with
smaller rings and more masculine with larger components. A very
versatile weave, this chain will complement pretty much any other piece
of chainmaille.
Kudzu
Shown made in aluminium with a charm attached.
Kudzu is a hybrid weave – a cross between Barrel Weave and Byzantine.
The combination works very well and this weave would look great both
as a bracelet and necklace.
Persian Dragonscale
Shown made in anodised aluminium.
This weave has very little to do with the “standard” Dragonscale. Where
Dragonscale is a flat, slinky band, Persian Dragonscale is a rounded,
narrower band mostly suitable for bracelets and keyrings. The weave is
gender neutral in style and would look best as a casual accessory.
Turkish Round
Shown made in jewellers brass.
This weave is the round version of Byzantine. The connections are very
similar, but Turkish Round is chunkier and, as the name suggests, a
round chain. The weave makes a beautiful bracelet and could also make
an interesting choker.
Mission statement
I believe in making my jewellery
accessible to everyone. I am happy to
make custom orders and I can create
jewellery in any size you want. I will also
work with you, if necessary, to find a
design and clasp which will be easy for
you to use.
Although some of my pieces are marketed towards men or women
primarily, I believe that anyone should be able to wear anything they like.
Please do not be put off by some of my items being directed at only one
gender when there are so many out there.
