Welcome to Newby Bridge Caravan Park – Accessibility Statement This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors. Newby Bridge Country Caravan Park, Newby Bridge, Cumbria, LA12 8NF – 01539 531 030 – newbybridge@lakedistrictestates.com 1 Welcome Newby Bridge Country Caravan Park is ideal for those who want a truly memorable selfcatering holiday located to the South of Windermere, just off the A590 ( signposted from junction 36, M6) and within easy distance to the villages of Cartmel and Grange over Sands. The Park covers some 25 acres, parts of which are completely undeveloped and form a natural habitat for many forms of wildlife. Accommodation on the Park consists of six self-catering caravans and one lodge and one cottage. The majority of the Holiday Homes on the Park are privately owned. The Park has a barrier entrance with main reception to the right at the end of the driveway. The barrier is operated by key fob available from reception. There is a hearing loop on the reception counter. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Park (small charge). There is an information centre and accessible toilet bathroom block in the centre of the Park. There is a small children’s play area to the rear of the Park. 2 1. General Information The roadways are tarmacked with speed bumps at various intervals and a speed limit of 10mph throughout. The first 250 meters of the Park is level ground, the remainder set on uneven ground. All roadways are lit at night. Each self-catering property has different levels of accessibility. Assistance dogs are permitted on lead throughout the Park. Please note some properties are pet free, these have limited accessibility. A full list of property accessibility is outlined in section 4. By Train The nearest railway station is Grange-over-Sands, LA11 6SX (six miles). Grange over Sands is operated by First Transpennine and Northern Rail on the West Cumbria Coast Line linking Carlisle to Lancaster. The Park entrance is about 200 yards on the right hand side. On arrival, there is a tarmac level car park with spaces for 10 cars adjacent to reception. There is one parking space at the front of each self-catering property. 5 3. Reception The main entrance is well lit and signposted. There is tarmac drive with speed bumps leading to the main parking and reception area (on the right ) before the barrier. There is a tarmac level car park with spaces for 10 cars adjacent to reception. Access to reception is by five steps or flagged gentle slope. Both paths have hand rails. The key for the properties can be collected from main reception. There is double door entry (79 cm wide), short pile carpet, seating, hearing loop and florescent tube lights. Inside there is a counter and seating area. Counter height is 1.3 m. A Park map and general local information is issued on arrival. Entry to the main Park is through a key fob operated barrier. An emergency telephone is located to the right of the doors on the wall outside reception. There is folder with local access information for Lake District attractions located here. 6 4. Capacity: 4 Bedrooms: 2 Bathrooms: 2 An exclusive double lodge with private garden, sheltered sun room and patio area. The interior porch leads through the separate dining room complete with dining table and chairs, into the spacious lounge with large windows to the rear overlooking the gardens. Sleeps up to four persons with two double bedrooms, both with en-suite shower rooms. Fully equipped kitchen with washing machine/dryer. To the exterior, a private patio area with picnic table and bench so you can sit back and relax and enjoy overlooking the gardens and the wildlife. Parking for one vehicle. Property is fully equipped including bedding and towels. Property is available for seven nights stays from Saturday to Saturday. Sorry no pets. The Lodge is on one level with three step access to the front (54cm) and one step (30cm) through the sliding patio door to the rear. Capacity: 4 Bedrooms: 2 Bathrooms: 2 Set within its own private garden, Woodland Cottage provides an idyllic holiday setting. Sleeps up to 4 persons with one double and one twin bedroom both with en-suite shower rooms. The open plan kitchen and lounge area with TV/DVD, dining table and chairs with patio doors that 7 lead to the private garden and patio area. Outside there is one car parking space and a lockable shed for bike storage. Property is fully equipped and includes bedding and towels, available for seven nights stays from Saturday to Saturday. The caravans have three steps to enter at the side of each property into the open plan living area/kitchen. 9 Derwent – accessible caravan with ramped access to the front The Derwent is an accessible self catering unit available for seven night stays from Saturday to Saturday. The property sleeps up to four persons, comprising two bedrooms. Each bedroom has two full size single beds. There is a portable helper frame in bedroom one, please contact us if you need hoist and sling hire information. The separate accessible wetroom with toilet and shower is located off the central corridor with wide frame doors throughout the interior. Fully equipped kitchen with low level appliances leading into open plan diner and living room, complete with TV/DVD. Ramped access and veranda to located to the front of the property, with level tarmac parking for one vehicle. The Derwent is fully equipped including bedding and towels. Property is available for seven nights stays from Saturday to Saturday. Laundry Room & Information area The laundry room is accessed by three steps or level wooden ramp. The door width (95.5 cm) leads into a large open space with non-slip flooring and front loading washers and dryers. The area is lit by fluorescent tube lighting with adjustable height ironing boards. There is a comprehensive display of things to do, local information, a DVD and Games library. There is no on site shop. The local garage is a licensed small supermarket selling essential groceries. This can be reached by an uneven sloping tarmac footpath between the Park and the rear of the car park at the garage (approx2/3 mins). The second part of the path near to the garage is gravel. 11 6. Accessible Toilet/Shower Room Accessible toilet and shower room located via ramp access at the information and laundry room. A manual door (79 cm) to enter the facilities. There is only forward or angled transfer to the toilet. Toilet distance from the wall side is 29cm. There are horizontal grab rails either side of the WC. The toilet is well lit with lino flooring. There are lever taps on the basin. There is a seat and rail in the shower. 12 7. Emergency Procedures There is an emergency telephone by reception. There is good mobile phone and Wi-Fi access on the Park. All properties have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and fire extinguishers. There are emergency pull cords in the accessible bathroom. 9. Additional Information Park management team have undergone Visit England Disability awareness training. There is a Dog welcome bag and welcome pack issued on arrival. There is good internet (small charge) and mobile reception throughout the Park. Future Plans A new accessible caravan “Derwent “will be available from June 2016. An accessibility action plan is being implemented for all new developments and renewal of hire fleet.
